About the property

4 Bedrooms, 5 Baths, Sleeps 16

You can stop looking for a site for your next family reunion or group vacation: Appalachian Lodge is it! The 4-bedroom, 5-bathroom home sleeps 16 people—and a dog or 2 as well. And though it’s nestled among the mountains, with absolutely spectacular views, it’s only 5 minutes from the restaurants, shops, and attractions of downtown Gatlinburg.

Appalachian Lodge has 2 decks that span the width of the nearly 2,500-square-foot home, one on each of its 2 stories. Both look out onto the Great Smoky Mountains, as do all 4 bedrooms, the downstairs game room, and the upstairs great room. On the decks, you can savor the view from one of the 2 porch swings, from a bistro table (our favorite spot for lingering over breakfast!), or from the 8-person hot tub. There’s nothing quite like soaking among steamy jets of water while gazing up at the stars as crickets chirrup and owls hoot among the old-growth trees.

The great room’s towering walls of windows let you relish the scenery even while you’re indoors warming yourself by the gas fireplace or nestled in a leather armchair surfing the web. If you can tear yourself away from the view, you can all gather together to watch a movie or the big game on the TV, which has cable channels (including HBO) and a DVD player.

The game room is another spacious gathering space. It features a pool table (perfect for a rainy afternoon or a relaxing evening in) as well as another TV with DVD player, another fireplace too, a table perfect for an impromptu poker game, and lots of comfortable seating.

There’s plenty of seating around the dining table as well—up to 10 people can fit comfortably. And the galley kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances, cookware, tableware, and counter space you need to prepare meals to feed your hungry hordes. What’s more, outdoors there’s a charcoal grill complete with a smoker. The barbecue maestros in your group will love it!

Each floor of Appalachian Lodge has 2 bedrooms, one a master suite and one a double. The master bedrooms each have a so comfortable king-size bed, while the doubles each have 2 queen-size beds. All 4 bedrooms have their own bathroom, a TV with DVD player, plenty of storage, and a gorgeous mountain view courtesy of the French doors that open directly onto a deck. A 5th bathroom is just off the game room, which can sleep 2 more people on its sofa bed. Have even more guests? One of the great room’s sofas opens into a bed for 2 as well.

Among Appalachian Lodge’s myriad amenities are a washer and dryer (here’s your chance to return home from vacation with a suitcase full of clean clothes!), 2 CD players, parking for 5 vehicles, a wall-mounted hair dryer in each bathroom, unlimited long-distance calls, and free WiFi. It's the best amenity of all, however, might be its location. Tucked on a mountain ridge, the home offers plenty of privacy, yet you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg in 5 minutes. And a mere 10 minutes away is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which you can explore on foot, by a bike, by car, or even on horseback. Just as close by are Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area and Wild Bear Falls Water Park. Even Dollywood is less than 25 minutes away.

A convenient location, a spectacular setting, and luxuries such as a hot tub and a pool table: Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? That’s why you should book your stay today—before someone else beats you to it!

Gorgeous view, beautiful cabin, perfect location!!

  • 4 of 5

Absolutely loved this cabin stay!! We come yearly to Gatlinburg as a large group and try to find a different cabin each time. We were very happy with our choice this year!! The cabin is awesome, beautifully furnished, and the views are incredible. The only complaint is that some of the beds were very uncomfortable. Otherwise I highly recommend this cabin for anyone’s stay!!

Great week at the Appalachian Lodge!

  • 4 of 5

We found the cabin to be very comfortable. There were 7 ladies enjoying playing cards and several other activities in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area. There were 2 items at the cabin that we were not pleased with. First, the hot tub only has 3 jets working. Quite disappointing. The refrigerator makes ice very slowly, so making our cocktail drinks the first night meant going for ice. We saw a beautiful black bear in the backyard and several others in and around the cabin. The mattresses could be replaced to make sleeping a little more comfortable and rockers on the porch would be nice. The view is absolutely beautiful!

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

We stayed 4 nights with a group of 9 adults and 2 children. There was plenty of room for everyone. The cabin was clean, spacious, had a great view and level parking for four cars. The location of the cabin is great, it was a 10 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg. Although we didn't turn on the televisions they are in need of updating ( tube TV's). Only a few of the jets in the hot tub worked and the mattresses are horrible. The mattress on the pullout couch was unusable because of staining and wear. It was a joke amongst our group about sleeping on the floors to get a better nights rest. If they updated the mattresses I would definitely stay here again. Overall I thought the cabin is well depicted in the photographs. If location and space trumps comfortable beds then I would highly recommend. I'm sure the hot tub is probably an easy fix.

The King size bed downstairs could use a new mattress. It was not very comfortable.
