5 Bedrooms, 5.5 Baths, Sleeps 26
At Big Bear Lodge you can enjoy a Smoky Mountain getaway with 2 dozen of your nearest and dearest—and a few pets as well. The 3-story, 3,840-square-foot log home can sleep up to 26 people in exceptional comfort and magnificent style.
Set on nearly 2 acres of woodlands with stellar views of the Great Smoky Mountains, Big Bear Lodge is wonderfully secluded; it even has a private gated drive. Whether you’re walking among the old-growth trees during the day, sitting around the fire pit under a canopy of stars at night, or kicking back on a deck rocker to admire the sunrise or the sunset, you’ll relish being surrounded by nature’s grandeur. Perhaps the best way to savor the beauty around you is from the lower deck’s hot tub, which is large enough to accommodate up to 7 lucky soakers at a time.
You can admire the vistas from inside the home as well, via the multitude of large windows. The view from the great room on the main floor is especially breathtaking, thanks to the massive windows on the double-height wall. As you sprawl out on the oversize sectional or nestle in one of the chairs, you’ll feel as if you’re actually outdoors, even as you’re watching a movie on the flat-panel TV or using the free WiFi to surf the web.
The great room is just one of the spaces within Big Bear Lodge where the whole group can congregate. Another is the downstairs game room. Just as spacious as the great room, it offers diversions for just about everyone: a full-size billiards table, foosball, air hockey, and an arcade, as well as a leather sofa, another flat-screen TV with DVD player, and a fireplace to keep things toasty in winter. There’s a kitchenette just off the game room too, outfitted with a refrigerator and a microwave, so that you don’t have to risk breaking a winning streak by running to the kitchen upstairs.
Speaking of the kitchen, its open layout makes it easy for cooking to be a group activity. There’s room for 3 to sit at the breakfast bar and help with the slicing and dicing (or simply keep the cook company). The kitchen itself is equipped with sparkling stainless-steel appliances, cookware, and tableware so that you can prepare a multicourse family meal—while the dishwasher will help make cleanup a breeze.
All 5 of Big Bear Lodge’s bedrooms have their own private bathroom and a TV with a DVD player. Both of the bedrooms on the top floor have a king-size bed and an armchair perfectly positioned alongside a large picture window that lets you wake up to a view of the treetops and the seemingly endless sky. These bedrooms flank a sitting room featuring a sofa bed that can sleep another 2 people.
As luxe as those bedrooms is, they’re outshone by the master bedroom on the main floor. Complementing the king-size bed and the reading nook is a jetted tub in the en-suite bathroom—talk about luxurious! What’s more, the bedroom opens directly onto the main deck, so you can head out for some late-night stargazing without disturbing the others.
The remaining 2 bedrooms, on the lower level, each have 2 sets of queen-sized bunk beds. These rooms are perfect for families with kids, or you can let all the kids' bunk together. Every night will be a slumber party!
There are still more amenities we haven’t gotten to: the huge main-level deck that provides panoramic views, the washer and dryer (no need to overpack), the gas grill (perfect incentive to go fishing at one of the nearby streams), the gorgeous furnishings, the proximity to the restaurants and attractions of downtown Gatlinburg (just a 15-minute drive away)…
Finding a beautiful, comfortable, and conveniently located mountain getaway to accommodate up to 26 people (and a few dogs too!) can be a difficult task. But we just made it easy for you. So stop your search, and book your stay at Big Bear Lodge today!

Beautiful views but cabin needs some TLC
2nd time staying in the Big Bear Lodge and we had a great time with family and friends. The view from the great room is spectacular. There is plenty of parking for guests. There are a few items that caused us to rate this visit less than 5 stars. The furniture is really worn out in the great room, the roof over the dining room leaked when raining and the refrigerator in the kitchen had broken shelves.
Also there are plenty of dishes for a large group but not silverware or pots and pans and no pot holders.
This cabin has so much to offer it just needs a little TLC.
Lisa, we are glad you enjoyed the beautiful views from Big Bear Lodge. Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. This helps us to continue to improve. We have passed your suggestions on to the owner. Again, thank you for taking the time to review our property. We look forward to meeting all expectations on you next stay with us.
Very spacious. Convenient to Gatlinburg, but very private. It helped a lot that my dogs were welcome.
Thank you Kayla for staying with us and for taking the time to share. We are glad that you and your dogs enjoyed the wonderful place.
House in need of maintenance. A number of things broken and appear to have been that way for awhile
Spent most of the the first couple hours reporting damage to office...(which is in a different state) unless you get lucky and the local office picks up. The fridge doesn't work properly. Water was off to ice maker. Food frozen. Arcade game doesn't work (which was very dissapointing to the kids who were counting on it) Tons of doors won't close. Upstairs bathroom leaked through kitchen ceiling. Couch and floors are destroyed. House had been cleaned when we got there but not very well. Says sleeps 26 but there were 10 forks available. Iron broken. Not enough towels for the size of the house. The house is spacious and the view is great. It's at the very top of the mountain. Check your brakes and tires. This COULD be a great house but it's time to sink some money into maintenance and replacements.
Thank you for taking the time to review our property. Your input, and all our guest feed back is vitally important to us as we want all guests expectations to be met upon arrival. You have our apologies for falling short of your expectations. We do want you to know that the issues with the refrigeration and arcade have been resolved. We have passed along your other concerns to the owner. Again, thank you for sharing your comments with us. We look forward to having you stay with us on your next Smoky Mountain visit.
We loved our stay at this cabin. This cabin was very spacious!! The kids rooms downstairs was perfect. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star is because the furniture is a little dated and the pool sticks were very worn-there was no chalk and we had to call the maintenance department for the arcade game. He did come quickly but the next day it went out again. Other than that it was a great time for our family of 13.
wedding weekend disaster
Wedding weekend and family was coming from out of town to join our special day. Upon arrival both fridges not cool and main fridge ice maker was turned off. Turned it on and it flooded fridge and we had to remove and clean food and fridge. SECOND, HVAC broken on main floor of cabin and they called out a repairman that night. He came out and said there was nothing he could do but was going to tell the office about the problem and contact them in the am. The air was 86 at that time. I called the next morning and the lady said she would have to call the cabin owner and see what he wanted to do but the repairman had told her it was a major fix. I was having my wedding there at 4 and the temperature was 87 in there. I never heard back from the girl who said she had to check with the owner of the cabin before she could do anything. Bad communication and my wedding was ruined due to the heat inside the cabin. Everybody had sweat dripping off them.
Debbie, Congratulations on your marriage. Thank you for taking time to review our property. Your input is vitally important to us as we want all guests expectations to be met upon arrival. It is always our goal to repair those unexpected issues promptly and for the most part we succeed. Unfortunately the HVAC required a part that was unavailable to several days. You have our sincere apologies for us not being able to meet your expectation in this area. Again, thank you for sharing your comments with us.
The cabin was amazing and the view is gorgeous!! We had a blast, and there was more than enough room for everyone to be comfortable. Thank you!
Heather, thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We agree that Big Bear Lodge is beautiful and we look forward to having you stay with us again on your next trip to the Smokies!
