About Jeff and Alisa Chessani
After 23 years of service in the Marine Corps, Jeff retired and we traveled across the country in a trailer with our big fun family. Feeling somewhat cramped, we purchased this home in Escondido. Currently Jeff is attending Bible college.
Jeff and Alisa Chessani purchased this House in 2011
Why Jeff and Alisa Chessani chose Midway
We purchased this home to be near our church, Fundamental Baptist Church. It was a lengthy and interesting remodeling project. Our favorite part is the large modern kitchen!
What makes this House unique
Our home is centrally located to all southern California has to offer. Fresh fruit trees on the property are available for guests to enjoy. Minutes from downtown Escondido!

Great Family Home
My sister and I joined families here to visit family and we couldn't have picked a better place. Our 4 kids would play in the front yard with the tree house (which the dirt in the picture is now grass all over), while the adults would just sit on the comfortable outside furniture conversing. It was great because we didn't need to worry about them with fencing all the way around. They even have a grill in the yard so one day we cooked dinner while overlooking them playing.
Inside basketball was also definitely a hit and they also have a trampoline and outside basketball(bring your own basketball-we were lucky and had ours). We stayed here for 4 days and we never turned on a tv.
The kitchen was amazing and has every tool/dish you need. Everything was very stocked (soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent,...) and the house was just comfortable to stay in. We'll stay here next time we visit if it's available.
Perfect House for Children!
We just left this house and we truly enjoyed our stay! The house was comfortable and we felt like we were staying at a family members house. We loved being able to close the gate and let the kids play in that amazing front yard. All the kids had a blast. The basketball hoops inside were a hit too. Wish the queen size beds were king sized, but not a big deal. Just would have been more comfortable when our little kids came crawling into bed with us in the early mornings. The citrus trees smelled heavenly!! We enjoyed some oranges and some lemons off the trees! We will definitely be back when we return to the area! Thanks for sharing your house with us!
Perfect home for families with active children
This was the most kid friendly home we have stayed in. We had four adults and five children and never felt crowded. The kids loved the outdoor play area and the sunroom play area. Our boys and the adults had fun playing the basketball arcade game. Even after a full day at Lego land the kids still wanted to play outside on the play equipment.
The beds are very comfortable. The kids liked having a bunkbed room to themselves. We brought a portable pack and play for the baby.
The only thing not kid friendly was the dishes. All the dishes are heavy porcelain. They do have some plastic glasses. I would also suggest you bring a cheap disposable table cloth to cover the table. It's a beautiful table but had seams that collect crumbs.
The hostess, Melissa, was fabulous! She was so kind and helpful. If we are back in the area, we will definitely stay here again.
Really nice house and kid friendly!
Home was in a good location for activities and lots of things for the kids to do. Great house! The owners should supply some staples such as flour, sugar, spices, oil, napkins, foil, plastic wrap, sandwich bags, etc. that people would have on hand. Any rental we’ve ever stayed at has had the basics so that you don’tbhave To go to the store and buy all of that. And ifvyou’te Flying, you can’t take extra with you either. Also should have more than 2 dish towels in the kitchen. Every new renter should have a NEW sponge-I don’t know if the renter before me used that sponge to wipe the floor! Should also have at least 1 set of extra sheets for each size bed. It truly was a great house but loses a star for the lack of basics.
Thank you for your feedback on our home! We are glad you liked the house and apologize that you were not given a new sponge at check-in. This was an oversight and has been addressed. Every guest should get a new sponge upon arrival. As for extra dishtowels and sheets, they are available in the house. Extra sheets for each bed size are available in the hall closet and extra dishtowels (about a dozen), house towels, and beach towels are available in the laundry room closet. Our property manager shows these to guests at check-in, but I believe you were not the first arrival in your group so unfortunately, you did not get the tour. However, guests are able to reach our property manager by phone anytime during their stay with questions about where items are located in the house. Occasionally, guests leave behind items in the house for future guests, but we do not provide kitchen staples other than coffee, coffee filters, and salt/pepper. We do provide guests with bath soap, hand soap, dish soap, and laundry soap. Thanks again for your feedback!
We had a wonderful time thank you
The property was nice and dpacious
OK, so we did not have any problems that prevented us from accomplishing our objective for this stay but there were so many annoyances that it detracted from the experience. It was not an awesome place but an OK place to sleep. Overall the vibe is funky. It is an awkward lot on a busy road (quite a bit of road noise if outside). Entrance is off a private drive/street that makes finding the place more difficult than it should be. We were not allowed access until 5:30 PM due to some late departures from previous guests and working around the property manager's schedule so this put us off a bit. We also felt some pressure to leave early on the day of our departure.
The description for parking claims 4 spaces but we had a tough time with only three cars. It's possible but not easy and that pretty much describes the rest of the experience. The front walk has uneven concrete that is a real trip hazard. there are loose tiles to navigate if you try to avoid the trip hazard. The small patio area at the front door would have been nice but it was very dirty as a result of being in the middle of the front yard/dirt patch. They should cover this furniture to keep it clean, otherwise it is unusable unless you want to get dirty by sitting on it. We gave the manager a list of at least 10 items that needed repair (a hot water faucet that did not do anything, marginal temp control in one of the showers, broken blinds on the windows, loose toilets, noisy A/C, poor running drains etc). We were only provided TWO washcloths for 6 people. The manager blamed that on previous guests. (they get stolen she said)
The kitchen was functional and clean for the small continental breakfast we prepared (no other meals were prepared here so no feedback on appliance) but overall, the house needed a top to bottom scrubbing and fresh paint in many areas. Perhaps is did not get a proper cleaning due to the late departure of the previous guests.
We did not have small kids but everyone seemed a bit dismayed about the condition of the play area. There is a large tree limb above the trampoline which made it dangerous and some debris etc all over the property (stored tiles etc) that would give any millennial parent caution about turning their kids loose to play.
This property served our purpose (sleeping) as the beds were rated acceptable but none of the people in our party would stay here again.
Mr. Bill, we are sad that you were unhappy during your stay in our home. Your response was somewhat unusual, as we have received such positive feedback in the past.
We take the satisfaction of our guests very seriously. We always want to do our very best to ensure the comfort of every person who stays with us. Thus, we have certainly given attention to the items of maintenance you provided and have replenished the home with a nice supply of washcloths.
Our property manager strives for excellence and graciousness. Thus, the home was thoroughly cleaned before your arrival, as it is for every guest that stays with us. Since the listing check-in time of 3:00 pm was inconvenient for you, the property manager kindly met you for check-in at your requested time of 5:30 pm. Also, accommodations were made for your late check-out of 11:00 am, which is one hour later than we usually allow.
As owners, our goal is to echo the same spirit of excellence and graciousness. That is why we granted your requested discount for the last night since only half of your guests would be staying in the home the last night.
We believe that children are one of God's most precious gifts, and we are committed to their safety. Literally, 100's of children have been in this home, and they have enjoyed its kid-friendly features with laughter, joy, and safety. Thankfully we are confident that our future guests can look to the many reviews from families with children that were very happy with our home's cleanliness and safety.
Again, we regret that you were unhappy with your stay. Thank you for your business. Best wishes to you in your future VRBO stays.
As for us, we will continue to serve our future guests with graciousness and provide a clean, safe "home away from home."
