There's a lot to experience steps from our cabin.Take the shuttle bus at the end of our street to Bear Mountain and leave the car behind. Walk to the end of our street and hike in the National Forest! There's miles of trials to wear out the kids and the dog. Work on your swing at the golf course and range at the end of our street! Take the kids (big or little) to the zoo! Just a mile down the road you will see bears, foxes, wolves, mountain lions, owls, eagles, and more! You won't be left with nothing to do, unless of course you want to.
Here's a few common questions and answers that will help you decide if Big Bear Boarding House is a good fit for your getaway.
Is Big Bear Boarding House a good place for children?
We've had several families stay with us and they've found the Big Bear Boarding House perfect for children. There's a large entertaining space in the living room, and the guest bedroom is equipped with plenty of entertainment if the adults are in need of some "adult" time. The washer and dryer also comes in handy in case of accidents or if the kids just want to rock their favorite outfit every day.
Can we cook at Big Bear Boarding House?
You'll love the flexibility of being able to go out or stay in to cook. Our kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, plates, glassware, utensils. If you're unsure about what we might have, ask us. The gas stove and oven has the ability to help you whip up a meal for 6 or a beautiful brunch. You'll have no problem feeding the hungry bears.
We provide a coffeemaker, toaster, and microwave.
Is the fireplace functional?
Oh yes! It'll keep you warm on the coldest of nights. Grab some firewood from a local gas station or grocery store (you can find it just about anywhere), and enjoy an evening in front of the fire.
Should I bring linens or towels?
Nobody wants to travel with their sheets and pillow cases. Our linens will rival any hotel and our cleaning crew will take care of everything when you leave. We provide linens for the three queen beds, and we ensure EVERY piece of bedding is washed before your visit. We'll also make sure there's plenty of towels for everyone.
What's the television/movie situation?
TV is optional in Big Bear, but you won't miss anything on our 55 inch HD T.V. Want to watch a movie? You've got Netflix, and all the premium channels at your disposal. Hanging on a Sunday? Don't miss any NFL action. We have NFL Redzone. The DVD and Roku is in the guest bedroom. It gives guests or kids a chance to watch their favorite comedy or classic Christmas DVD (We provide a few of our favorites for your enjoyment). There's plenty to watch, if you want to.
What kind of experience can my pet expect?
We love dogs (check out our pics), and we understand how hard it can be to travel when you have to leave your furry friend or friends at home. We have a pet bed, and blanket for your convenience. As far as activities are concerned we'd recommend you check out some of the hiking trails up the street from the cabin. They're sure to tire out even the most athletic pups. We do not allow cats.
