NOVEMBER 17-18 WEEKEND SPECIAL...Book Friday and Saturday night here on VRBO and after you reserve we will add either Thursday or Sunday night FREE...your choice!

You and your family will love this custom built 3 bedroom log home with hot tub, fireplace, wifi, pillowtop mattreses and so much more in Packwood, WA at the base of Mt Rainier National Park(the entrance is only 7 miles away), hiking, waterfalls, rivers and lakes.

In winter come and ski White Pass Ski Resort, a short drive away. This jewel of the Northwest has 2000 vertical feet of skiing, modern lifts, great snow and some of the most stunning views of Mt Rainier you will ever see. Packwood and the cabin is at the 1000 foot level. We do get some snow at the cabin so we highly suggest a 4 wheel drive to access the cabin (and always carry chains with you as well, most skiers do!)

The panoramic views from this Mt View Cabin's greatroom, dining area, deck and hot tub are inspiring! After a day of hiking and exploring enjoy the sunset over the valley below. After dinner cook some smores in our firepit and gaze at the stars above. This cabin has been a popular spot for people all over the world as they come to explore Mt Rainier National Park and the Mt St Helens Volcano! You will love this cabin, the setting and the proximity to everything. We are only a short 1/2 mi walk to town and restaurants. Call us if you have any questions. This beautiful log home is complete luxury! It is a three bedroom, one bath cabin that sits on an acre of beautiful view property. Sit on the covered porch or in the 30 jet hot tub and view the Cowlitz River Valley, the town of Packwood, Cascade peaks on all three sides and witness the incredible sunsets over the western peaks. Packwood is known for its herds of elk that roam the area and it is not uncommon to see a herd pass by the cabin on any given morning or evening.

Many come and do not want to leave the comfort and relaxing atmosphere of the cabin. Others venture out into the Mount Rainier National Forest, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, White Pass Ski Resort, Mount St. Helens, the Cowlitz River, Snowmobiling, four-wheeling, horseback riding, rafting, the snow parks and recreation areas, and the many concerts and cultural events of east Lewis County.

'This cozy cabin with stunning views and a great woodstove is #1 in our book. We just spent 4 lovely relaxing days this Thanksgiving and we can't wait to come back. Stay here and be mesmerized by the views and wonderful amenities!'

About Bob Trombi

We built this first getaway a few years back because we knew that if we were to stay sane in such a busy world that we would need to have a place to go to and bring the kids to just get away from it all. We hope you enjoy this incredible spot!

Bob Trombi purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Bob Trombi chose Packwood

We personally designed and built this cabin in Packwood, one of the most beautiful areas of the country. In summer the beauty of the mountain is indescribable and in winter the skiing at White Pass is great for a family or an expert. We have been coming to the area for 15 years and we love it more and more everytime we visit.

What makes this cabin unique

Just the other day 3 cow elk came by with 4 babies, a bald eagle flew by, a fox trotted up the road, the sunset was amazing and there were more stars in the sky than I have ever seen before...and this is all in one day!

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I came back to the cabin for a second time with a last minute decision for some R&R. We needed a getaway to relax from our busy lives and Grandma watched our one year old son so we could rest. We went sledding at White Pass Ski Area. We found a spot just for the two of us and it was sunny blue skies, absolutely beautiful. Our last run we went down together and totally wiped out. We're leaving with only a few scrapes and bruises, thank God. The highlights of our stay was watching eagles from the front deck, soaking in the hot tub and starring at the stars. We watched movies on the new flat screen TV and they have a good selection of classics and new movies and we lit a fire in the woodstove. It is the perfect setting for a romantic time for any couple, we recommend it. We cooked some great meals in the fully equipped kitchen, slept good on the comfy bed and totally relaxed. We also love just taking a walk on the property. The view of the mountains and town are really inspiring. If you hike up the driveway to the other cabins above the views of Mt Rainier are stunning. We are looking forward to coming back again next year as we would love to make this a tradition in this pristine place. Thanks again, Bob and Sybille, we had a great time. You both have done a fantastic job in building and equipping your cabins. We have and will continue to recommend your properties to all our friends. You guys are so easy to work with and your website is the best and easiest to use. The pictures do not give this place justice. Shane and Kaia

Peaceful, beautiful, stunning .....

  • 5 of 5

Such a peaceful place to stay and be with nature. We had some rainy weather the first couple of days we were at the Cabin but there could not have been a better place to be indoors/sitting on the covered porch. We thoroughly enjoyed the view, the elk who visited the yard, the birds flitting all around the area and the quaint little town of Packwood. Close enough to town to be convenient but far enough to be "away from it all." Very near to the entrance of Mt Rainier national park, which was our ultimate reason for staying in the area. All of the necessary amenities were available and then some. We definitely plan to come back so we can stay longer next time!

Very nice, comfortable and clean home...perfect for our family visit to Packwood!

  • 5 of 5

We had a pleasant stay over a weekend...very close to town but also felt very remote and private. Although we didn't take advantage of all of the amenities, it was nice to have them as options...hot tub, fire pit and wood stove. The house was very comfortable with everything we needed and had a beautiful view of the mountains... was a great jumping off place from which to visit Mt. Rainier! Would definitely return here in the future!

Relaxing two night stay with special guests

  • 5 of 5

Great location, great view, great hot tub. And great guests - the elk visited us multiple times! Just an all-around relaxing cabin visit to release stress and get away from it all. Property is clean, spacious and well located to Mt Rainier and close to any supplies you may need in Packwood. Great view of the hills as leaves were starting to turn and Fall clouds hovered tranquilly in the valley. Hot tub was great - but was not warm when we got there. Instructions gave us hints and we got it going. Owner was responsive via email and local caretaker also called us back on our hot tub query and confirmed how to operate the controls, which are a bit touchy (I blame hot tub manufacturers - they are all weird!). There are lots of instructions and labels on everything, which initially feels overdone, but then you realize its really so you can enjoy your stay and we found them very helpful. A well organized and peaceful rental. Thanks, Bob!

Great location between Mount St. Helens and Rainier

Nice cabin in Packwood situated just above town. We enjoyed quick access to trails up the road and the volcanoes nearby. Fun to see elk Walking past the cabin while sitting in the hot tub after a day of hiking.

Nice cabin but hot in summer

  • 3 of 5

This is probably an ideal cabin for the winter with a sunny westerly exposure and the hot tub. Unfortunately, the western exposure makes the porch and hot tub unusable on a hot summer afternoon.

Owner's Response: The exposure is amazing because of the sunsets not to mention that the cabin also has air conditioning which is only needed a few times in the summer. It rarely gets over 80 degrees but for a few days in July. Once the sun sets it cools down quickly and we turn the ac off and open the windows. Then we love lighting a fire in the firepit and cooking hot dogs and smores with great views of the valley and mountains in the distance!
