About the property

Cabin Located In Gated Estate For Your Enjoyment; Close To 9 Ski Areas And Lakes

This cozy 2-bedroom cabin is nestled in the San Isabel National Forest within Beaver Lakes Estates just 6 miles south of Leadville, Colorado facing the tallest peak in Colorado, Mount Elbert at 14,443 feet. The back porch is fully screened and faces the lower lake while the front deck provides breath-taking views of Mt. Elbert and the Twin Peaks over Twin Lakes.

This lovely cabin is fully equipped with propane heat and stove, a pellet stove, one king size Sleep Number bed, one queen bed, all appliances, linens, kitchenware, DVD player with large viewing screen, Bose radio system with Bluetooth, and an Excel internet connection. The cabin does not have any satellite or cable television connections; it only has an internet connection: no television, only DVDs or computer connection.

Located in Beaver Lakes Estate, just 3 miles up a well-maintained mountain road from Hwy. 24 south, this special place includes nearby trout fishing, hiking, biking, and access to the San Isabel National Forest. Just a convenient 6 miles from the town of Leadville, visitors can see the historic town's sites or set off for a day to nearby Turquoise Lake or Twin Lakes. All roads are plowed and maintained year-round, so the cabin is perfect for skiers or those seeking a snowy mountain experience.

Built in 1958 this cabin is wonderfully situated facing south for the best views of Mount Elbert and the Twin Peaks. Winter offers cross-country skiing out the cabin's backdoor and access to 9 downhill ski areas within 30 miles of the cabin including Aspen, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, A-Basin, Monarch, and the locally run Ski Cooper just 20 miles west. Summer offers limitless hiking within Colorado's 14,000' mountain peaks. Summer months also bring fabulous music and art festivals along with many competitions to Lake County. Although fishing is not allowed within Beaver Lakes Estates, Hayden and Crystal ponds plus the Arkansas river are just 4 miles away for the novice or avid trout fisherman.

We love this cabin and its location; we hope you will enjoy it also!

Lake county Colorado is located in the heart of the state and contains some of the first and most lucrative mining ventures in the late 1800's. Many people make Leadville their destination because of its rich history and quaint ethos; main street (Harrison) still looks the same today as it did in 1880 and the locals are very proud of their town and heritage. At 10,152 feet, Leadville offers challenges to athletes while its breathtaking views of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks draw people from everywhere around the world. Activities are endless in this part of the mountains as winter means skiing and summer means hiking in these gorgeous mountains. Our cabin is 20 minutes out of town in a very quiet and safe neighborhood.

eaver Lakes Estates is located just 6 miles south of Leadville, Colorado off Hwy. 24 South. It is a secluded neighborhood of 150 mountain homes originally built for trout fishing. The landscape is covered with fragrant sage brush and beautiful aspen groves. It is designed by the local beavers who constantly adjust water flows within the streams; however, two stocked lakes are the center of the estates and are maintained by the residents. Although secluded, guests are only 20 minutes from grocery and main street shopping with restaurants and local night life. Four-wheel drive is not necessary as the roads are well maintained by the estate managers. Guests can fly into either Denver International Airport or Colorado Springs local airport; both airports are a 2-hour drive to the cabin. Personal transportation is recommended since the cabin is 3 miles from any major highway.

About Nancy Fox

We purchased this cabin to enjoy the mountains and all the activities they offer.

Nancy Fox purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Nancy Fox chose Leadville

We bought this cabin because it offers great views of the Colorado Collegiate Peaks, namely Mt. Elbert, the tallest, it is accessible year round, it is close to Leadville, Buena Vista, and Salida which offer wonderful wilderness experiences, it is close to Ski Cooper for downhill skiing, and it is positioned to capture all the beauty of life at 10,000 feet.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin offers outdoor enjoyment directly from our back door. Beaver Lakes Estates offers many roads to walk or bike; plus access to many of Colorado's hiking trails without getting in your car. In addition, during the winter, the miles of well-maintained roads are wonderful for cross-county skiing right out the back door while Ski Cooper is 10 miles, Copper Mountain is 24 miles, and Monarch is 80 miles from the cabin, not to mention Breckenridge, Aspen, Vail, Beaver Creek and A- Basin for your downhill skiing pleasure.

In the summer, two towns south, Buena Vista 24 miles and Salida 30 miles, offer the best water rafting and zip lines in the country.

Beautiful views from a sweet comfortable mountains cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a few days to enjoy the area and go skiing. The cabin is snug, well furnished, and very comfortable-not to mention the views are indeed spectacular. Cabin has many windows from which to look out onto the amazing mountains surrounding this place. It is located within easy driving distance from Leadville and many ski resorts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already making plans to be back !!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your comments. It warms our hearts to know that we are able to share such a lovely place with others, although we have to give most of the credit to mother nature and her beautiful mountains. We look forward to your return!

Beautiful views, clean and cute cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Nancy's cabin for a few days over our kid's Spring Break and skied at Ski Cooper. We had a blast, came back to a well-furnished cabin, nice kitchen and cozy beds. The views were spectacular and we even saw a herd of Mule deer a couple mornings. If we come back to this neck of the woods, I will be sure to see if Nancy's cabin is available.

Great spot for our short stay

  • 5 of 5

We wished we could have stayed longer for sure. The cabin itself was very nice, had everything we needed and excellent views. Also great for our yellow lab Carl. We had a group of about 15 deer come right up to the porch. All in all very happy with our stay, thanks Nancy!

Wonderful secluded get away for our family. Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful get away. Nicely stocked with everything we needed. A little hard to find at dark on our way but worth the beautiful views all the way around at sunrise and sunset. We even had the enjoyment of a herd of elk wandering over the hills to great us at sunset many nights. Just the type of place I would love to own some day. It gave us all the ultimate Colorado experience. Peaceful walks and close to all we needed. Thank you to the gracious owners.
