About Colette Diegel and Tim Diegel
We are a family of four from Minnesota. My husband Tim, is still working so we are happy to rent our home to others who would enjoy it. We have two daughters,Clare and Shannon, aged 30 and 31. My father, Terry, is also pictured.
Colette Diegel and Tim Diegel purchased this Villa in 2011
Why Colette Diegel and Tim Diegel chose Grapetree
We choose the site because of the staggering view. We had a condo at the Reef nearby and would drive up and dream of the home we would build. We built our home in 2011 to take advantage of the truly spectacular jaw dropping view and the lovely trade winds.
What makes this Villa unique
The privacy of this executive location is wonderful. The house was built with three distinct guest suites with their own private balconies where couples could retreat to for some quiet time. There is ample deck space for communal activities and the pool is knock out focal point for the whole house.

Fabulous house, surrounding property and location on St. Croix!
This was our first trip to St. Croix, after several trips to St. John, and did not know what to expect of the island. We decided on the East End, in Grapetree, as a location that seemed to mimic a bit what we had previously stayed at, and the location did not disappoint. Once we had decided on location, next step was picking a house, and from the moment we saw the property listed online, with the amazing views of the bay, we knew this was the place for us.
The house sits at the end of a dead end road, which is perfect because the only traffic around it belongs to your house. Most nights the loudest sounds you heard were from crickets. The area is very quiet. We were met by Bill at the Seaplane port, and the idea of following him back to the house, using a two-way radio was brilliant, and something no other property managers had done with us before. This allowed us to explore and learn about the location on the way rather than just following another vehicle in silence.
Once at the property, the house was everything it was described to be. The house and property were super clean, the rooms immaculate. Bill went over all of the property, the house features, what to/not to do with anything, and left us feeling comfortable. The pool was crystal clear, plenty warm, but not too warm to be enjoyed in direct sun during the day.
The location of the property is near several fabulous places to eat/drink, but if you don't spend at least several nights down at Ziggy's having dinner/drinks, you are missing out. We day-tripped to many of the beaches on the island, but always felt relieved to just come back to the house, kick back, and enjoy the view and pool. You could easily just spend your entire vacation here and Ziggy's.
Overall, working with the home owners (who were very responsive), the property managers Bill & Liz (whom we saw out and about in town and local establishments), was fast, easy, and made our trip perfect.
Can't wait to come back soon!
Thank you for your kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed Villa Paradiso and the great customer service we always strive to provide. We have a fabulous team and we are very proud of them. Ziggys is a fun, uniquely St. Croix/Caribbean spot and we are glad you enjoyed it. Hurry back!
By far the best property on the island !!
My wife and I have been staying in different houses on the island for 10 yrs. Villa Paradiso is by far the best house on the island. The views are breathtaking, The House is full featured, and the pool private and delightful.
We stayed at Villa Paradiso for 7 nights. When we arrived, Liz and Bill were there to meet us with a smile. They had everything we needed all set up and gave us a tour. They even had a bottle on the counter to get us started. :-) They were absolutely delightful people. From the moment you meet them, you know that they want to make sure your week at villa paradiso is perfect.
This house is so amazing. We only left the property 2 times. one time to go get groceries and the other to go diving @cane bay. The house is a vacation destination unto itself. The pool was perfectly warm, the slight breeze keeps you cool enough to just sit on the deck and enjoy the spectacular views, the kitchen is large, absolutely perfect to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner. The beds are like sleeping on clouds. So, why leave ? We didn't.
There is no bad bedroom at Villa Paradiso. Every room has a spectacular view from the bed. Just raise your head up and there is the ocean and the horizon. In any room, walk 10 feet and your on your own private deck. Every morning, we would grab a cup of coffee and sit on the bedroom deck and watch the sweet soft light appear over the ocean. Just spectacular. Do not At night, you have never seen so many stars. Do not forget your camera.
Colette, the owner, had only one concern and that was that we are enjoying our stay. Her attention to detail in decorations all the way down to making sure that everything on the property was well maintained and worked made us feel like we were royalty. She was wonderful to work with, quickly communicated with us before, during and after our stay.
Bottom line, we loved this house, and we will be staying at Villa Pardiso every year from now on. No need for us to shop for houses any more.
Thank you Colette, Liz and Bill. We truly enjoyed every min.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and thorough review. You were wonderful guests! Colette
Very far out from everything
The house was very nice, we were comfortable. The pool was refreshing and we spent time in the pool and out of the heat. Bill and Liz are knowledgeable and helpful. It was extremely hot the week we were there with high humidity. There are room air conditioners that you’re instructed to turn off when you leave the house and so turning them on when you return makes for very hot rooms for a while. Overall, a good stay.
Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at beautiful Villa Paradiso. We do suggest that guests turn off the AC's if they are going to be out for the day as the electric company recommends. . We have high efficiency AC's in every room that cool the room within 15 mins. Our guests comfort is our highest priority and if it is unseasonably warm we certainly would always invite guests to leave them on.
Beautiful, private and peaceful retreat.
My wife and I just spent a most relaxing week on St. Croix at Villa Paradiso. The house was as beautiful as the pictures and just as relaxing. That made it difficult to tear ourselves away from the villa to go and explore the island, but we were able to do so. It was so private we sometimes felt like we were the only ones on the island.
Liz was very helpful in acquiring us a few grocery essentials before we arrived. She met us at the airport and led us back to the villa. That was very helpful since it was our first time on island. She gave us a walkie-talkie and pointed out grocery stores, restaurants, historic places and many other things of interest along the way to the villa.
We dined at Duggan’s and Blue Water Terrace which were both great. One very surprising gem was Sunday brunch at Ziggy's Island Market. The menu and food were amazing. Do not miss that on Sunday mornings!
Colette’s 26 page information pdf was a great primer for the entire vacation. She included many recommended restaurants, day trips, and activities. We have already told some of our friends about our trip and showed them the pictures we took and many want us to go again and take them with us. I think we will do just that. We recommend Villa Paradiso very highly and will definitely return again.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and thorough review. Liz is such a treasure and it was so nice of you to acknowledge how hard she works to make out guests feel at home. Hurry back, you were lovely guests!
My family, myself, husband and four adult children, enjoyed a wonderful week at Villa Paradiso. From the moment you walk through the doors and see the beautiful pool and ocean and blue sky you know you have found paradise. The pictures do not do the scenery justice! The home is very clean and well maintained. The gardens were beautiful and lush even though the rest of the island was having a bit of a dry spell. It was wonderful the way the three bedrooms are their own separate areas so if you have an early riser others can sleep in! The pool is great and got the sun by 9:30 AM - so nice it was hard to leave and enjoy the island. A bonus to the outdoor space is that there is a nice amount of the patio that is covered so there was more than adequate room to relax if you needed to be out of the sun for a bit.
We did the hike to the top of Goat Hill - it is a tough hike but worth the views and makes the pool that much more refreshing! The hike to Jack and Issac Bay are easier and well worth the walk - especially Issac where there is some terrific snorkeling and a lovely beach and clear water to swim.
We also did the Buck Island tour with Captain Carl and it was great. The sailing to the island was wonderful and the snorkeling and beach were the best - thanks Colette for this amazing suggestion. We did do the Cruzan Rum tour - very nice and you can’t beat the delicious rum drinks the bartender served up. Rainbow Beach was a great beach to go to after the rum tour. There is a beach bar/restaurant and a nice clean sandy beach with a parking lot. We also had a great time on the bioluminescence kayak tour. We did the see-thru kayaks and had a great experience and lots of fun. Also snorkeling off of the pier in Frederiksted - saw turtles, string rays, fish and plenty of colorful coral.
Duggan’s Reef and Blue Water Terrace are highly recommended for the food and close location to the house and if you are in Christiansted and need a refreshment stop at Rum Runner for their Lime in ‘de Coconut drink. Very delicious and refreshing!
Thanks Colette and Tim for sharing your beautiful home and for all of your helpful suggestions. Our family highly recommends Villa Paradiso!
Thank you for your nice review of Villa Paradiso. We are also still charmed by the view! Thank you for taking the time to talk about the lovely national park beaches and good for you doing the Goat Hill Climb! You are right, Isaacs and Jack's are easy to get to but I should be giving out medals for the hardy souls that continue to Goat Hill. Great tip for rainbow beach and of course we love that you love our recommendation for the sail with Captain Carl. Nothing like it!
Very clean and great view knife edge pool. Owners repsoned quickly and throughly to questions. The island contacts Bill and Liz were more than helpful and went out of there way to help. Vilaa was very private with a short walk to and almost private beach. All 3 bed rooms had full baths, coffee makers, small fridge, and private balcony to each. We have been to Croix several times and this is worth staying at. It is definitely not set up for kids under 21 though. Would stay again.
9 Hole Golf Course The Reef located nearby
TWO 18 hole golf courses on the island
Lots of snorkling opportunities nearby
Many sailing and kayak tours available on the island
Walking/hiking distrance to Jack's and Isaac's Bay - National Park!
Great restaurants within 10 to 15 mins of the villa - one frequented by Martha Stewart (Blue Water Terrace) and one by the Kennedy family and Joe Biden ( Duggan's Reef)
