The Carriage House is new to the Vacation Family and VRBO. Originally a carriage house for a larger estate, it has been lovingly restored to welcome guests with every modern convenience in a beach atmosphere. Every detail is in keeping with its proximity to the sugar-white sands of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Beach. The 2nd Street Historical district has made tremendous strides in its comeback from Katrina with the historic homes restored and better than ever! Sleeping 8, it is fully furnished with the 3 bedrooms on the second floor and the downstairs living area open and bright. An oak tree shaded yard and outdoor sitting area are perfect for the afternoon iced-tea or an evening barbeque. Regionally famous restaurants-Shaggy's , Saluate's and the Chimneys are just 1 block away. You can ride the bikes 5 blocks to the heavily-touted historic downtown Gulfport for its many restaurants, pubs, stone pizza eateries, and night clubs with all types of musical offerings. The Aquarium opening in 2018 will be 3 blocks away. If you just want to lounge on the sand and soak up some healing rays of sun, the beach is a scant 2 blocks south of The Carriage House. Please note the picture on Google IS NOT this renovated home. Please see the pictures included. If you have a larger group we also have another historic home nearby which can be rented in conjunction with this one and it is a VRBO listing, also. There is so much more to do here than other vacation spots!! There is deep sea fishing; one of the top 10 children's museums and activity center-Lynn Meadows Discovery Center- is located 5 minutes away; shopping-both boutique and discount malls- are plentiful and welcoming; museums -including a Presidential Library , the Maritime Museum, and the NASA Space Center's INFINITY Science Center; all sorts of water activities-paddle boards, jet skis, sail boats, wind surfing, shrimping, floundering, pier and wade fishing, and Gulf Islands Water Park and Zip Lining; ecotourism offerings from one end of the Coast to the other; art galleries and artists' colonies, and two world-famous art museums-The Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art and the Walter Anderson Museum of Art; or, just plain old playing in the water and sunning on the sand all are here for your relaxing and pleasure!
