Constructed June 2006 with approximately 2,100 square feet of centrally heated and cooled living area. The house features three bedrooms, two and-a-half baths, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, laundry room and a large living area. The Master bedroom is located on the first floor and features a full bath that includes a shower, as well as a whirlpool tub, and a double vanity.
The Master bedroom also features a huge king sleigh bed with a NASA memory foam mattress for the perfect night's rest. The two other bedrooms are located upstairs with a full combination bathtub/shower and double vanity. Each floor has a separate thermostat to control the temperature.
The den/living area is approximately 24' by 16' with glass windows across the back for a breathtaking view of Smith Lake. There is ample seating as well as a 50' flat screen television.
Great place to swim and fish from the boat dock. There is ample boat docking if you decide to bring a boat, as well as two jet ski pads to dock your jet skis. A boat launch is available at Houston Recreation Area approximately seven miles from the lake house. There are several locations on the lake to purchase fuel; however, be aware the prices are considerably higher on the water. Bait and other boating needs are also available at several locations in the area. Smith lake is the third cleanest lake in the United States and offers a tremendous opportunity for fishing. (Bass, Striper, Crappie, Bream, or even Rainbow Trout)
There are three restaurants, two grocery stores, and a coffee shop within eight to ten minutes.
Wonderful, quiet weekend at the lake. The house was clean, uncluttered, comfortable, and had all the aminities needed for a perfect weekend getaway and it is on a great part of the lake for skiing, swimming or just sitting on the deck.
We enjoyed our getaway to this great lake house. It was just my husband and I but we would have plenty of room to bring the kids next time. The house was very clean (which is a big deal to me!) The kitchen seemed very well stocked although we personally didn't use much of the items. The location of this house is ideal. It is a very quiet part of the lake. We had awesome views and very little traffic. We enjoyed swimming off the dock for hours at a time. I highly recommend bringing all supplies needed due to the area being limited on stores, restaurants, etc. We did enjoy a few of the local places and the local grocery store for lunch. The only thing missing that we didn't think to bring was something to float in the water with. We drove around for hours looking for rafts, noodles or anything! We ended up driving to Jasper (40 minutes away) and finding something at Walgreens. So heads up, bring something from home to float on. The water is amazing and relaxing. You will want to just float around. Other issue that might pose a problem for some (not us). There are A LOT of steps to the water. It didn't seem this way in the pictures. For elderly people or families with small children, this could pose an issue. My elderly parents would not have been able to walk these steps which would have meant they couldn't have enjoyed the beautiful water. Other than that, I would recommend this place for families, girls getaways, etc. The quiet was unbelievable.
Wonderful week of relaxation at Houston Hideaway with group of ladies from SC and Louisiana! We really enjoyed the porch and reading/sunning on the dock especially. The lake is beautiful and the house is very spacious. The photos do not do the large living area and seating justice.
Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Houston's Hideaway...
Beautiful setting; very comfortable accommodations...already looking at schedules for a return trip. Wonderful get away, retreat from hustle/bustle of trappings of busy schedules, etc. you will not be disappointed!
From the first inquiry the owners of Houston's Hideaway were outstanding to deal with, very quick response to all questions prior to our visit. Once we arrived they checked in several times with us to make sure the property meet our expectations and needs. The location of the property is outstanding, situated on a very wide section of Lewis Smith Lake the property is easy to find and just a short drive away from dining and shopping.
If you're looking for a great place to stay and excellent owners to do business with then I highly recommend giving Houston's Hideaway a try!!
This vacation was probably one of the best ones I have been on! The house was beautiful and perfect for my family! We loved having access to the water and somewhere to put a boat. We rented a pontoon boat for two days and it made it really convenient to keep it at the house. We really had a wonderful time and look forward to visiting again!
