Best location in North Shore
This is an ideal place for a couple that are looking for a no fuss budget friendly location in the heart of the north shore. The tourist area of town is one block away, as is the beach and the harbour.
Great location allowed for easy access to Haleiwa town and the beach.
My husband and I originally booked the property for 2 (it sleeps 4) about 3 months in advance of our trip. We locked in 4 nights (minimum is 3). We have stayed in VRBOs in the area many times before, the price was in line with what we have paid and the location is great for walking to town or the beach. A month before the trip our daughter and son-in-law asked to join us for the last 2 nights on the north shore. Since accommodations state sleeps 4, we notified the owner that for the last 2 nights there would be 4 adults. He responded his policy is a 3 night minimum for all guests so they would be charged an additional $35/person/night for 3 nights (despite the fact they were staying only 2 and we were already fulfilling the 3 night minimum ourselves). He asked that this be paid to him directly in cash on their arrival. We asked for clarification on the ALL guest minimum of 3 nights since this is not clearly stated on the website. I won’t argue policy, but making them pay additional for 3 nights and cash when we already paid for his minimum was unexpected. Accommodations are similar to a mother-in-law apartment: a space added on to a family dwelling to accommodate others. There are basically two rooms (sleeping/living area and kitchen) and a bathroom on the west side of the home. There is a common wall and you can hear things such as people talking or the dog barking. The space got hot when the sun was shining especially in the evenings, but always cooled down after the sun set. There is a ceiling fan and a space fan which help. In the sleeping/living area, there is a daybed which makes into a second queen size bed when extended. When this is up there is about a 3 foot space between the two beds. You need to be creative in placing luggage, clothing, etc. and having a space to walk/move around. Since we spent little time in the place, we managed. The bathroom sink is small, the shower is fantastic, and there are 2 shelves for things. The kitchen has cooking necessities, a coffee maker, dishes, but bring or buy staples you will use- coffee, seasonings, condiments. We were each supplied a bath towel/wash cloth and had a hand towel. Bring your own hand soap, toiletries, beach towels, supplies. (We have stayed before where these are supplied as a convenience to travelers). We asked for a garbage bag (there were none when we arrived) and only the TP on the roll was there. The family is very friendly and offered suggestions. We enjoyed our stay.
Additional guest fees “ARE” on the website and you booked for 2 guests not 4. Additional fees are to cover additional laundry and cleaning which will take place regardless if additional guests stay for one night or more. This was explained to you prior to arrival you said you would check with your family and make sure it was okay and get back to us. AFTER speaking to them getting the okay your STILL complaining? Needless to say it was not unexpected in fact cleared in advance. There “is” also shampoo, conditioner and body was provided. Trash bag was an oversight and was provided within 10min of your arrival. Some people just like to complain. Next time spring for the resort and get your adult kids their own room rather than set higher expectations of your hosts when listings are clear.
I loved being able to walk into Haleiwa for shopping and dining. I was a little worried about no AC, but I had no problems as there was a lot of cross air flow and a ceiling fan. Parking wasn't a problem for one car. I would stay there again.
Great place to base your north shore visit - tidy, comfy, every thing you need.
