Overview

About the property

Close to Duke & I-85, contemporary 4 BR, 2 1/2 BA

Spotlessly clean, new furnishings, paint, carpet, hardwoods, cabinets. Huge first floor king master with en suite bath and plenty of room to spread out. Theres a pull-out twin bed tucked into the loveseat which is perfect for a child or petite adult.

Upstairs, two queen bedrooms (one Tempurpedic), one firm Stearns and Foster) and another king pillow top.

Two-story family room with 60" flat screen (HBO, Netflix and Hulu) and world's most comfy sectional with three power recliners.

The adjacent kitchen is generously outfitted (Keurig, Mr. Coffee, crock pot, waffle iron, coffee grinder, etc.). There are lots of dishes, flatware (service for 12), and glasses including wine glasses and some unusual Margarita glasses.

Whether you’re warming up pizza or preparing Thanksgiving dinner, you’ll find the right bakeware, serving dishes and appliances for a successful gathering.

Back yard isn't huge but there is an 8' privacy fence, and brand new deck and patio with Weber grill. Small swing set for the kiddos, too. Literally two minutes to I-85 at Cole Mill Road; 6 minutes to almost anywhere on Duke West Campus (and only 3 minutes to Krispy Kreme donuts!). Easy access to downtown Durham and plenty of restaurants, gas stations and shopping nearby. Always spit-spot cleaned by my private housekeeper to exacting standards (e.g. we wash EVERYTHING, disinfect all surfaces and use the white glove inspection test). Great for quiet families (very close knit family neighborhood of cluster homes) or for quiet indoor reunions. Convenient launching pad for Triangle activities. No parties (parking is strictly limited - no street parking) and outdoor noise must be at low levels and daytime only. Offered by a Five Star Superhost.

About Linda Roggli

I wasn't born in Durham but I got here as fast as I could! 30-year resident makes me almost a native. Husband is physician at Duke; I'm a life coach for ADHD women 50+. We love to travel and have visited 20 countries over the years (France and Greece my personal favorites).

Empty nesters, but as busy as ever. Eventually, Hay House may be our retirement home but for now we live on 11 acres in north Durham. Check out GardenSpirit Guesthouse which is the northern Durham guesthouse on our property, listed on VRBO (very different vibe - back to nature with lots of gravel paths and labyrinth).

Why Linda Roggli chose Durham

Convenient to Duke and major highways; lots of natural light, 9' ceilings and two-story family room, new carpet and paint, lots of storage in the kitchen. First floor master with en suite bath.

Nice flow to the house - kitchen, family room open to each other, dining room and living room open concept without being too open! Also liked the fact that the stairway didn't hit you in the face when you walked in the door! Just a nice design in a great location and good neighborhood.

What makes this house unique

Love the two-story family room and open kitchen. Plus the extra large master suite is nice on the first floor. You'll enjoy the cozy seating area in the living room - a nice place to sit and relax.

And all the light fixtures are new -- I am particular about lighting - got rid of all those awful 'boob lights" - and these fixtures are gorgeous (even if I do say so). A very comfortable, welcoming home that is super convenient.

Immaculate house and friendly owner!

  • 5 of 5

Linda has done an absolutely amazing job keeping this house clean, welcoming, and organized. Everything we could possibly need was there and easy to find, and the beds were extremely comfortable - it was an amazing place to stay for our family and friends. Linda was also extremely accommodating, ready to work with our schedule at a moment's notice. The Hay House is highly recommended! :-)

We had a wonderful stay at the HayHouse

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house while visiting our son at UNC. Linda went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant experience with a warm welcome, basket of snacks and a spotless, well-appointed home with all of the necessary amenities. Also, she very kindly mailed a personal pillow one of our family members had inadvertently left behind. Thank you very much, Linda.

We loved this house and our visit to Durham!

  • 5 of 5

This house has it all - a great location, amenities, plenty of space and a wonderful owner. We were so impressed with the warm welcome we received on our arrival, especially since it was later than anticipated. The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays and allowed our family to celebrate Christmas together. We enjoyed preparing meals in the beautiful kitchen that was well stocked with many of the staples for cooking, i.e...spices, flour, sugar etc... I highly recommend this property and look forward to our next visit to Durham!

We gave thanks at Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

Linda the owner went above-and-beyond to help us all get ready to celebrate a family Thanksgiving in her home. With a total of eight people staying in the house - some from California, some from Iowa, and some from New York - we were able to feel as though we had all we needed to prepare and offer a real Thanksgiving to our Mom who is in a nearby retirement home.

Linda helped me determine all the kitchen utensils in the house so that no needs were left unmet and she was even bringing last-minute additions that she anticipated might be wanted. The house was perfect for all of us, with extraordinarily comfortable beds, clean and inviting sheets and bedding, and a plethora of extra, fluffy blankets and throws for added warmth.

All the instructions and guidance books were of great assistance to help us plan our local adventures and it was especially nice that there were places within the house that one could retreat to for occasional much-needed alone-time. With over-the-top enthusiasm for HayHouse, we are looking forward to returning for additional family gatherings in the future.

Amazing, welcoming

  • 5 of 5

Linda has an amazing home. So warm and welcoming. Very organized. If you forgot she has it. Beautifully decorated. Great location for our wedding event in Durham. Very beautiful and friendly neighborhood. We will definitely recommend her home to anyone traveling to the Durham, Raleigh area. We will be sure to come back. Kathy her housekeeper was extremely friendly when she met us on our first day. Our 3 grandchildren 4, 2, and 7 months felt right at home.

Thanks for a great stay.

Owner's Response: What a pleasure it was to welcome the entire Rogers family (plus a few Duke friends) to Hay House! Loved seeing Ryan and the 'giraffe room." Thanks for leaving the house in spotless condition, too. Maybe when you return, we'll have the new patio and knot garden finished, too! Many hugs and much affection for you all!
