About Kim and Bill Bailey
Bill and Kim moved to Apache Junction, Arizona in 2014 in search of a more relaxing, peaceful lifestyle from the faster paced Phoenix suburbs. They wanted to have some land around them and craved for spectacular views. They certainly found it! Their home is located on 1.25 acres and has unsurpassed views of the Superstition Mountains, Goldfield Mountains, the surrounding Sonoran Desert and also City lights at night that cover the Phoenix valley. They are only about a 30 - 35 minute drive to Downtown Phoenix, but it feels like a world apart. If you're looking for a relaxing retreat to get away from the hubbub of everyday life, then Bill and Kim are sure you will love it as much as they do!

Why Kim and Bill Bailey chose Apache Junction
The area around Cactus Wren Casita is steeped in history. The mysterious Lost Dutchman Mine has reportedly never been found and prospectors to this day still search for the Dutchman's lost fortune in gold. The town of Goldfield was created by the rush that followed the discovery of gold in the vicinity in 1892 and was a thriving town with 3 Saloons! It has since been reconstructed and Goldfield Ghost Town offers mine tours, a restaurant/saloon, shopping, gunfight re-enactments, train rides, desert jeep tours and more. And don't miss taking a drive on the Apache Trail which is one of the most scenic drives in Arizona. This well-traveled, unsealed road affords visitors an incredible view of canyons, geologic formations, desert plants and trees, desert and lake views, and wildflowers in season. It originally was a stagecoach trail that ran through the Superstition Mountains and was named the Apache Trail after the Apache Indians, who originally used this trail to move through the Superstition Mountains. And last, but by no means least, if you love hiking there are a plethora of spectacular hiking trails from beginner level up to the most advanced hiker.
What makes this Cottage unique
As soon as we walked the property we immediately new it would be our home. We were swept away by the towering Superstition Mountains right at the back of the property and the breathtaking views of the surrounding Sonoran Desert, and all of the wildlife. It truly is a magical spot.

Incredible view, Comfortable & Private Home
The lovely casita is hidden away right at the base of the mountains; we spent the majority of our stay beating the heat in the pool and lounging around the house. This truly felt like a home away from home. Our favorite part of each day was watching the mountains change colors with the setting sun! This property surpassed expectations!
Incredible Arizona Vacation Location!
From the moment we booked our rental to our very last day in Arizona, Kim and Bill provided quick responses to any questions we had. In fact, when we had a bit of difficulty finding the property in the dark, Kim answered the phone late at night and kindly talked us through locating the driveway. Upon arrival, Bill came over to welcome us and gave us a walk through of the property. Both owners were around if needed but we also had privacy and did not see them unless we reached out.
The rental property was very clean and tastefully decorated. It provided a relaxing and tranquil environment with beautiful sunsets in the front and unbelievable mountain views in the back. We enjoyed watching the wildlife, listening to the various birds in the daytime and relaxing by the pool with the quiet wind chimes at night.
The house had all the comforts of home. The kitchen had all the amenities needed. Walking sticks, backpacks and water bottles were also provided for long hiking days. Since we arrived late at night and did not have time to pick up food before arrival, we very much appreciated that the refrigerator had cold water bottles and was filled with breakfast items for our first morning, along with fresh fruit on the table. The guest handbook on the table was thorough and provided beneficial information for local hiking and restaurants,. Bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of blankets, towels and sheets.
Their attention to every last detail is evident. Their level of hospitality is unmatched. We would highly recommend this rental property to anyone wishing to visit the Superstition Mountains and surrounding area.
Bill and Kim... thank you, thank you , thank you! We enjoyed celebrating our 20th Year Wedding Anniversary in Arizona at Cactus Wren Casita.
We arrived late into Phoenix but we were welcomed to the casita with lights on and an unexpected bottle of wine and chocolate to celebrate our anniversary. The extra amenities such as breakfast items, water etc were so much appreciated. It’s such a nice touch. The casita was immaculate and comfortable. Met Bill our first morning who gave some tips on places to visit in the area. The view of the Superstition Mountains is spectacular from the back of the casita. The view from the front patio is just as spectacular. I would highly recommend this property when visiting the area.
I visited this time (#4) with my parents and they said it was like a 5 star tour experience. The Casita, pool and grounds are beautifully maintained and very well stocked with all our needs. We particularly enjoyed the proximity to trail hiking, fun saloons as well as elegant golf course dining.
A perfect place to experience the desert
We wanted to be IN the desert; to hear it, see it, and be totally immersed; while having a comfortable, clean, adobe style place to stay; with opportunities for hiking. Cactus Wren Casita is all that and more. The pictures are accurate although the Casita is even better. The location is accessible but incredibly private and right IN the desert. The views are spectacular. And Bill and Kim are warm, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable hosts and nearby but not at all intrusive. We loved our week long stay immensely and hope to return.
This casita is amazing!
We really enjoyed our stay at CWC. It was clean, well stocked and close to everything we wanted to explore. The view is something you’ll never forget. Kim and Bill are great hosts. Highly recommend it👍
