3 bedroom, 2.5 bath with stunning mountain views, open pastures for horses
About Samantha Dutton
We have been married for twelve years and have 4 children between us and a two year old granddaughter! Although we were previously married to other people, we attended prom together in high school. We lost track of each other until about 2003. We've been together since. I retired from the Air Force and we decided to move to the mountains of east TN. Once we arrived, we decided that we weren't quite ready to retire. We travel quite a bit and thought how wonderful it would be to share our beautiful home with others.
Samantha Dutton purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Samantha Dutton chose South Pittsburg
We found this property purely by chance. We were looking for property in nearby Chattanooga and decided to drive out to Marion County. We were only looking at raw land to build our home. We were not looking to buy already developed property. As soon as we drove up the driveway, we knew this was it. The rest is history.
What makes this Cabin unique
It was definitely the views! Also, the previous owner's last name started with a D and there is a D in the slate floor and on the front gates. We thought it was a sign, so we dove right in.

We had a wonderful stay! Amazing views and great cabin! It was so relaxing to sit on the decks. The grounds were beautiful too.
We drove from TX and hope to return in future!
Wonderful place to get away!
I loved staying here and so did my family. Everything was great! One of the most beautiful properties I’ve ever seen! Only one thing I would warn people about. On the deck, a lot of the safety posts are missing or loose to the point that a small child would fall through. We were very nervous to let our kids out on the deck at all, so in turn, the adults didn’t enjoy the deck very much. With that being said though, they are making improvements to the deck and that is clearly visible so I’m sure this will be resolved very shortly! The hosts were incredibly kind over our messages and made you feel right at home. The cabin itself is to die for.
Nice get away.
If you are looking for a place with a great view and away from everything, this is the place. The multiple decks, ponds, woods, and more were great for the family and dogs. We loved our stay here and will come back.
We had a wonderful experience. The cabin has spectacular views from the porches. We live outside of town and therefore the drives to activities weren't anything unusual. Our family enjoyed everything about our stay and would stay again.
Our family had a wonderful vacation. The cabin was great. We saw lots of wildlife and fished every day. I wish we could of stayed longer.
Didn't exactly live up to expectations.
The best thing about this property, is the view and the property itself. The cabin on the other hand, while having the basic necessities, lacked basic upkeep. Dirty kitchen drawers with food crumbs etc inside them. The deck was in desperate need of repairs. Dangerously loose post, and lots of nail heads sticking up on the flooring. The little bench in the sitting area was broken. The grill on deck had a mouse living in it and scattered off when we opened the lid. The igniteres on it did not work, and the only box of matches were left outside and were soaked and not usable. The instructions ask you to load the dishwasher with all your dirty dishes, and, run it. Which we did, but, there was no dishwasher detergent anywhere to be found. The blinds in the downstairs master bedroom were raised all the way up, and open, but they were not functional whatsoever. They literally fell off the bracket, and there happens to be neighbors in that direction. So needless to say, that was a little discomforting. All in all, not real pleased with our experience.
Thank you for your feedback. It is always important for us to hear about our guests experiences.
The crumbs in the kitchen drawers was most likely an oversight, as we were trying to accommodate your early check-in. The deck flooring has all been recently replaced in different sections over the last year. If you are referring to not have the edges trimmed, that was taken care of this past weekend. If you are referring to the spindles surrounding the railing, those are being replaced in sections. The open areas are not in a dangerous area. There are no open railing where someone may be hurt. The bench in the sitting area does have a loose spindle in the front but does not pose a safety issue. I don't think a mouse is living in the grill as most of our guests utilize this during their stay. We are in a mountain setting and critters will come onto the deck looking for shelter or food that may have been left behind. There was no nesting or rodent droppings in or near the grill. The matches must have been left by a previous guest and in our rush to make the cabin ready for your early arrival, we did not place them inside. We have a lighter inside the cabin on the chopping block. There is a full box of dishwasher tablets under the kitchen sink. They were in a brown cardboard box. They were labeled, probably hard to recognize as they are not a national brand. The master bedroom blinds have caused some trouble lately because of guests not taking care when opening and shutting them. We believe this has been fixed as of this weekend and shouldn't pose a problem for future guests. The neighbors cannot see into the bedroom window.
It is our hope that future guests will reach out while at the property so we can address issues as the arise. It is our intention that all guests have a pleasant experience! We have had many repeat guests and this is our first and hopefully our last 3 star rating.
