Gorgeous Property, just needs a little TLC
First I have to say, this is an absolutely stunning property right on a cliff over looking the ocean. The house consists of 3 separate buildings. The main house has your kitchen/dining/seating area, and the other buildings house 3 separate bedroom/bathroom/kitchenettes. Its really a perfect situation for a group of couples or 2-3 families traveling together. The decor is tropical/Bali style and we absolutely loved the stained glass window panels that told the story of Pele. Typically, a property such as this should 5 star ratings all around. However, like previous guest, there were a few things that need to be addressed. First was the cleanliness of the property. We are local Hawaii residents and as such, we remove our shoes when entering a house. However, the floors were filthy. There was hard rock-like debris on the floor, not to mention some large pieces of confetti & hair balls scattered throughout all three buildings. It was obvious that no one had vacuumed or swept these floors. Two of the trash baskets in the bedroom units had not been emptied. There was a rotting banana peel in one of them. The owner needs to fire his cleaning people, because in other reviews, this appears to be an ongoing issue. I did reach out to the owner, and it sounds like he will address this issue (at least I hope he will). Next issue was the right bedroom house hot water supply. When taking a shower, it went consistently from hot for 5 seconds, to cold for 5 seconds. We all ended up using the one shower in the left bedroom house. Not a big deal, but if you have a group larger than our 5 people, it may become an issue. Advised the owner, and again, hoping he will address the issue.
There were several things you need to know about the property: 1) the driveway is not paved and is quite rocky/bumpy. Exercise caution when driving down it. A house as nice as this should have a paved driveway. 2) the very large glass bi-fold doors in the main house are very difficult to move. This is a maintenance issue that could be easily addressed by the owner by simply cleaning out the track and adding some lubricant. Be careful when opening these things - they are heavy and stick. 3) there is not an over abundance of towels/linens - you'll need to wash after use. If the owner would take care of these issues, this house would definitely be a 5 star place to stay. I am hopeful he fixes the issues. I personally would like to stay there again.
Amazing place. Lots of space. Very clean. Amazing view.
Little island vcay
To many cons then pros.. i have read the reviews n was hoping they fixed all the problems but they dis not. It is a breathe taking place beautiful veiw. But the floors wasnt recently swept or moped counters was dirty n dusty the cubboards was dirty towels didnt seem cleaned . 5 mins into out stay the bamboo frm yhe roof fell inches away from my niece. The ice box dwn staitlrs still sits on a bucket the iceboxe above that room still makes dat lous noises as previous renters said. The ladder in da pool needs to be changed the pool was not clean floor had lots of debri. There was beautiful art n glass scultputre in main area. Main area is tiny it looks big but it is not. The dwn stairs shower knob broke my husband fixed it. All tho there was many things that wasnt up to par my family n i had a great time. But paying that much they need to up keep it alot better TLC is what it needs .. Before we left i washed all lienes towels we used swept n cleaned alot better then when we got there. Just a note we pay a cleaning fee so the place shud be clean at arrival. And one more thing the loose rock tile near the pool needs to be fixed both my grandson got cuts from it. I wudnt tell ppl to rent this place unless they fix da problems there is. Or unless u rent it for half the price its not worth the daily rent..
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home.
Location and view was breathtaking. House was lovely. Had few problems but was handled efficiently . Would highly recommend this home. Owners were very nice.
Secluded, Quite, a Little Awkward
Overall the house is nice. Modern and open. The outdoor living is very nice and relaxing. The pool is enjoyable, but deceiving. It is not a infinity pool like the pictures make it out to be and Be Careful on the ladder!!!!
We had a few minor inconveniences, but I was letting those slide. The direct tv wouldn't work. Contacted the house manager and he had the neighbor come over with tools and we trimmed back the ginger plant and banana tree, not what I was excepting to do on vacation. Still didn't work. His next suggestion was a conference call with direct tv..... We ended up going the whole time without since I was not going to spend vacation time on the phone trouble shooting the cable. I didn't pay to be a worker.
The two upper level suites are very nice. Comfy beds, spacious areas and bathrooms. A little awkward not having a shower current in the bathrooms. If you would like air flow, you do have to sleep with the doors open. And they do not have screen doors, so little critters will get in. Had to unplug both fridges since they made a ton of noise.
The lower level bedroom is less than desirable. We decided either it was the in-law suite or the couple you are not to fond of that gets put down there. Looking from the pool view, you walk between the kitchen/common area and the left bedroom suite, out a gate, down some stairs.... very dimly lit at night, and you arrive at the 3rd bedroom. Not as fancy and updated, we found quite a few dead geckos in the corners and on the sticky pads. Average bathroom and a mini fridge on a bucket. We only used two bedrooms so we just joked about that one, but I would feel bad for whomever had to actually use it.
Few other things that had been mentioned in other reviews, like the window falling off, older dishwasher, ect.
The finally straw, and what prompted this review.... after messaging the home owner on our last night about an issue. (It is 12 days later and have not received a reply.) I went to the detached laundry room to do a load of laundry before we left. I opened the door and immediately closed it. Went to the others and brought them along and we took pics from the outside of the laundry room windows. The place was covered in flies and I'm not talking 10, 20 flies... I'm talking hundreds if not thousands covering all the windows and laundry area. Something straight out of Amityville horror!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful location, needs TLC.
The very best thing about this house/location is the amazing view. The second wonderful thing about this house is the open air concept; the folding glass doors are quite unique and allows the main living space to feel expansive. We loved that part.
The house is in need of major TLC. The pictures represented here on this site are outdated and are not reflective of the actual condition of how the house is today. Some photos completely misrepresent what you're getting. The pool? It's a simple dough boy. The pump was not working on our arrival, and it was quite dirty and cloudy. Someone did come out to fix that after we alerted the owner. The ladder going in and out of the pool is a safety hazard and needs to be stabilized or replaced. The bottom line, don't be thinking this is an infinity pool because of the representation of the photos, it's not.
On building 3 where the 2nd, upstairs bedroom is located, the window is completely hanging off the house. As in, it needs to be reinstalled, and while not a big deal, it's indicative of what's happened to this place.
All the furniture has been updated, which is very nice. But again, the description and photos show ALL appliances are stainless steel. This, however, is not the case; the dishwasher appears to have been swapped out and replaced with a very old, and dirty one. Photos show it being a brand new, stainless steel model while in actuality, it's not. You need to wash your dishes before using it, FYI.
The 3rd bedroom is below bedroom number 2, accessible via an outdoor stairway, that is dark and slippery at night. Lighting along that route is not adequate. Also, in that particular bedroom, the mini refrigerator is actually propped up by an old paint bucket, to get it even with the counter-not what I expect in a vacation rental. The bathroom in there is in need of a serious update and be advised you'll be bathing in ankle-deep water as drainage is an issue.
Lastly, while the geckos are very charming, it should be noted that their droppings are everywhere and in many places, their waste streaks the walls. We've stayed in other Hawaiian homes with geckos present and have never seen this type of issue. Also, ants. Everywhere in the kitchen.
Our two week stay here allowed memory making, but unfortunately, we won't return to this home. We appreciate the owners for allowing us to experience this house, but hope for future visitors a clearer representation of what they are paying for will be shown.
Peaceful waterfront home in the country.
