About Mark Cabrelli
Water's Edge is owned by the Cabrelli family. We enjoyed living in our beautiful home for 5 years before deciding to take our daughter on a traveling adventure. We now live in the Florida, USA. (www.bahamasrentalwatersedge.com) We use HomeAway and others to stay in properties overseas and so we know what to expect and what to deliver.
Mark Cabrelli purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Mark Cabrelli chose Eastern Road
After Mark worked in the Bahamas on a contract we fell in love with Nassau. We chose Water's Edge after an extensive search as we were looking for a traditional Bahamian home with modern amenities directly on the ocean with a private freshwater pool. Nassau teems with Bahamian and British flavor. The capital of The Bahamas boasts miles of spectacular beaches and stretches of vivid coral reefs perfect for snorkeling. Dance to calypso music, savor fried crab or play dominos with locals in the diverse city. Don't leave without also learning about the country's interesting past. Shop, dine and sightsee, particularly along busy Bay Street, or if you're a James Bond fan, visit the many movie sites. The town retains many of its characteristic pastel-colored British colonial buildings, including pink-hued Government House. Visit during the famed Junkanoo Festival (Christmas and New Year, also once in the Summer) to experience a high-energy parade of spectacularly costumed dancers. (www.bahamasrentalwatersedge.com)
What makes this Villa unique
We knew as soon we walked out of the back patio doors and saw that amazing view that Water's Edge was a unique and wonderful place. The private pool is a fabulous thing to be used throughout the year. We fell in love with the sunrises (something to behold), the Abaco pine beams in the cathedral ceilinged, living room, the hummingbirds that visit and the ocean breeze that cools the home throughout the year. We can also offer catering (meals and chef services) and massage services. Plus, Joe, our taxi guy, can provide all group transport. (www.bahamasrentalwatersedge.com)

Nice clean house on the ocean!
Water’s Edge was exactly as described in the listing. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the private pool overlooking the ocean. The house is spacious with a newly renovated bath and kitchen with all modern amenities.
For us it was perfect. But for those who are looking for lots of activities (shopping, restaurants, parks, water rentals...) this is not the place for you. The home is located on the far tip of the island so anything you want to do other than lounge around or swim, will require a taxi or car ride 10-15 minutes away. We were there to swim, lounge and chill out; so this was the perfect property for our group.
We will definitely stay at Water’s Edge again if we ever decide to go back to Nassau!
When we arrived Marsha was there to meet us with a friendly greeting and tour of the house. It was perfect! The house is beautiful, beds are comfortable and everything is CLEAN. Our group was 3 teenage boys, a teenage girl, grandma and myself and my husband.
There are a couple of awesome reefs right around the house. We saw more types of fish than I can count! We had an Eagle Ray that swam by daily and a couple other sting ray. If you are comfortable snorkeling don’t pay a guide it’s all right here.
Grandma and a couple of the kids preferred the strip of sandy beach just to the East. It’s an easy paddle in the dinghy or swim.
The pool is fantastic. The shower is right outside. so quick rinse from the ocean and we’d relax in the pool. The house has plenty of towels, pool floats, umbrellas for shade if needed.
We rented a van, our group is not decisive enough to try and book the driver. Plus I wanted to drive on the left side of the road. The Island is easy to navigate but it would have been nice to just be dropped off or have the insight of a local.
The straw market was fun but overwhelming. Lots of shops and fun restaurants. We enjoyed the brewery. Monday downtown is dead because there are no ships. Lots of shops were closed and prices were higher. We returned Tuesday and had a much better experience.
We didn’t explore much more of the island and we’d love to come back. We are a go go go family. It’s tough to get us to just want to relax and stay in one place. This house did it. We would have been happy to never leave. The sunrise is worth getting up for, you can see a pretty sunset through palm trees from the dinghy, coffee taste better in the morning from the patio and the inside of the house is spectacular with movies, a fully stocked kitchen and lovely bedrooms. We will be back.
Best vacation home EVER
If you are looking for the PERFECT getaway home, this is it. Our experience was fantastic from the minute we got off the plane. We used Joe's taxi to get us to the house and were met by Marsha who is lovely. The house is spectacular. The views even more so. The patio and pool area is absolutely unbelievable. We were in our swimsuits within minutes playing and swimming.
The house has everything you could need, all the little details are covered. Plenty of dishware and space. The house is beautifully appointed, spacious and air conditioned. You walk in and it feels like a home that is loved. Outside there are containers with water shoes, pool floats, snorkel gear and toys. All the staff we met were awesome. Garreth the pool guy and the maintenance guy too. We had a wind vs umbrella incident and Mark, the owner, was so understanding and kind and we had a new umbrella the next day.
We rented our car from Joe, his prices were cheaper than the other rental places. We used it to explore the island. We recommend:
Super Value grocery store-prices are reasonable for the island
Powerboat Adventures: swim with the pigs!
Jaws beach, cabbage beach the beach to the right of the house.
Blue Sail restaurant. Fish Fry-go to Trudy's!
Eat all the conch fritters you can!
We spent many days not leaving the house. Once the fridge was stocked, there was no need or want to go anywhere. We swam in the ocean and the pool. We bar-b-qued, we read, and we relaxed. Our girls were in total heaven and slept hard from all the playing.
This house is perfect for a million reasons, but it was nice to be away from everything and have our own space-when we wanted to go tourist it up we could. It gave us the perfect balance.
We spent 10 days at Water's Edge and wanted 100 more. Mother Nature gave us perfect sunny days, some good cloudy days and impressive thunderstorms!
I cannot think of a single negative. If you want memories, family time, peace, relaxation and a true island getaway, then this is the place to stay.
Mark, thank you for everything. We will for sure be back.
That View tho!
We had a wonderful stay at Waters Edge! The house was clean, comfortable and had plenty of space. The
Master was great, my only wish was that it had a King bed & better pillows. The other bedrooms were great! The upstairs loft bedroom is a nice bonus room and has it's own ac & a room with sink/toilet. Great for kids!
The kitchen had most of what we needed. I would recommend bringing foil/saran wrap. The house has all the basics, but is not overly stocked up. The living room was super comfy with plenty of couches to lounge on. I recommend bringing a speaker to use w/your phone for music as the cd player/ipod dock are outdated. There are a lot of old movies to watch and the tv/dvd player worked great! The tv was a little small, but no biggie! All the dining spaces were great, mostly we ate at the table outside. We didn't spend any time out front, but the deck is the winner here. The view is breathtaking and the pool was awesome! The ocean water was really warm and you really don't need to go anywhere else to snorkel, as you can walk right into the water & see plenty of sea life! It was by far the best part of the house. The hammock was used for napping and we used the grill as well (need to bring your own charcoal). We did walk to the store a few times, but it was hot and a bit of a walk! We ordered groceries ahead of time to be delivered, but I think they must mark it up a lot because the prices were much higher than we found at the store. We ordered pizza the last night from Marcos. The house is far from everything, nothing is in walking distance. It was nice and quiet & we loved being away from busy tourist areas. (The last night someone was playing really loud music until about 2am tho). We used Joe for our taxi and honestly he was one of the best parts of our trip! Really an amazing guy! I think a car would be a good idea for this location. For excursions we went to Heritage Park, it was ok, but maybe not worth the drive. We did see a sea turtle snorkeling there! We also went to Blue Lagoon Island and we enjoyed that a lot-great for kids. We did a walking food tour downtown and enjoyed learning about Bahama History and trying all the great food. We wanted to take a boat to Exuma, but had trouble booking this while there, so would recommend booking in advance. The check in/out was easy and everyone was pleasant to work with. The house is in a nice, safe neighborhood and I would recommend this rental without reservation.
Perfect Oasis for a long weekend away!
The property and house are absolutely divine. We enjoyed every minute at Water's Edge. Check-in was easy and our questions were quickly addressed before and during our stay. The furnishings are up to date and made for an extremely comfortable stay and the pool, patio and grill made for perfect mornings, afternoons and evenings on the property. We were happy to have a rental car to get to the store and get around the island but also had the option of a driver through the property which was great. We loved it and would definitely book again in the future!
Thanks guys, for the lovely review. We try to make the stay at Water's Edge as pleasurable as possible. We also have several improvements planned including a complete resurfacing of the pool.
I hope you guys make it down to see The Bahamas again soon. Regards, Mark & Lisa
Water's Edge was amazing!!
I stayed at Water's Edge for 8 days with my daughter and grandkids, ages 8 and 2. The home was perfect for us. We loved sitting outside on the large patio overlooking the ocean. We only swam in the pool twice because the water was still a bit chilly. The owner, Mark had plenty of movies and videos for the kids to watch. The wifi worked great and we we had no issues with staying connected. We used Joe, the taxi guy for the entire week. He was wonderful as well and made sure we were on time for the activities we had planned. We highly recommend the dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon Island, we also chartered a boat for 1/2 day to go snorkeling, swim with the turtles and visited Rose Island. We spent an afternoon shopping and I took my grandson to the Pirate Museum. We also spent another afternoon at the Zoo and saw the Pink Flamingo show. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation. The color of the water is just amazing. We had beautiful weather although a bit windy at times.
We appreciate Mark sharing his home. Marsha was great in meeting us at the house and showing us around. We had everything that we needed.
You guys are so welcome and I am so glad that you loved the villa. I have a great team that has worked with me for years at Water's edge and I hope it shows with the way you were taken care of.
Please come back again - we are always here for you. Regards, Mark & Lisa
Water's Edge is situated on the quiet, residential eastern end of the island amongst many other private luxury properties and away from the major (noisy) tourist hubs. You will find many locals out for their morning walk in our area as it is a gorgeous view around the end of the island. It is a short 5 minute drive to downtown Nassau, local restaurants and Paradise Island and Atlantis. The ocean is just a walk down the back steps and you will find many reefs within rowing distance (with our dinghy) and beautiful snorkeling. There are also 2 beaches within swimming and walking distance from the house. The world famous Cabbage Beach (Paradise Island) is a 5-10 minute drive away. There is a local grocery store within walking distance as well.
A well-stocked activity and guidebook is provided in the house as well as maps of the local area. Please check out our customer reviews.
