Just one mile south is the Chiricahua Desert Museum. The Museum has a world class reptile exhibit which houses hundreds of rare and endangered species. Rattlesnakes, aquatic turtles, and other desert creatures are just some of the amazing animals you will see up close and personal. Private tours are available to view even more animals off-exhibit.

The gift shop itself is a place where you can spend the afternoon perusing through their extensive selection of books. Topics include: local history, birding, hiking, and all sorts of Field guides. There's learning toys for the kids and the jewelry cases are filled with authentic Native American designs of Turquoise, Lapis, spiny oyster, and other natural stones.

If there is a particular bird, reptile, or mammal you favor, they probably have it on one of their hats or t-shirts. Comfortable and durable, these hats and shirts are the perfect gift.

Just off the gift shop is a desert botanical garden oasis. You can take a lazy stroll along the path of the stream, home to brightly colored mud turtles, while learning different species of plants and trees that are identified on plaques throughout the garden. There is also separate enclosures specifically for Gila Monsters and Bolson's Tortoises to view in their natural habitat.

Fun for the whole family, the Chiricahua Desert Museum is one stop you don't want to pass up.
