Don't miss your chance to fish in the Tarpon Capitol of the World! We have plenty of parking for boats and trailers. Drop your boat in at Uncle Henry's Marina and head for Boca Grande Pass!
Best beaches in the world, shelling, swimming and rarely any other people!
In case you are not familiar with Boca:
The beach house is a 3/2, one king and two queen beds, also an inflatable mattress for an extra guest. The kitchen has granite counters and stainless appliances. There is a screened porch overlooking the private pool area, we have access to the beach across the street on Little Gasparilla Pass. We love to go just around the corner to the best beach, there is a Publix just off the island, we always stock up on our way as the island grocery stores are much more expensive...great for a few items, but a lot for a full kitchen! There is a small grocery store at the north end of the island that carries most everything that you forget off the island. There is also a store downtown Boca Grande, they have wonderful meats. We like to buy our fish at the Fishery market, just off the island adjacent to the restaurant by the same name. If you turn right when leaving the island you will pass it, Pulix is to the left.
After thinking of cooking too much I have to tell you that we have fabulous restaurants on the island. Our favorites are: Patrick's Thai, The Temptation (must have the crab dip) , PJ's Sea Grill (beans and rice with any fish dish), South Beach (on the beach at the south end of the island...must go for sunset! Grouper basket), The Loose Caboose: grouper wrap with black beans. Ice cream at the Pink Pony, pizza from Three Sisters...for a fancy dinner...The Gasparilla Inn or The Pink Elephant (make reservations now!) The Bush family visits this time of year and stay at the Gasparilla Inn, it's fun to see all of the hub bub involved on our sleepy little island! Dress is casual everywhere except those two restaurants where gentlemen need a jacket and shirt with collar.
Boca Grande was founded by the DuPont family because their ships would dock there to fill up with fertilizer from the area...then the fishing industry developed. Because they owned most of it, they controlled it. We have very few condo complexes and no chains on island. It looks just like it did in 1950, so charming! It's beautiful old Florida at it's best. There are the best beaches anywhere, because you'll be there during busy season, I would go to the beaches near the house. It's the best shelling and great for nice walks. It won't be busy even during high season. There are fun shops to snoop around and an old light house to visit on the south end, don't miss it, a lovely museum. You can also rent a boat at the little marina if you are interested in exploring by water!
The Gasparilla Inn has a delightful salon and spa if you are in need of pampering. Our end of the island will be an escape from the busy downtown this time of year! It's fun to go down and nice to go back where it's quiet and private.

Some people laugh because we have more churches than bars, I think that there are four churches and three bars, but that might not still be true! The local paper is:

We are also the Tarpon fishing capital of the world! You might catch Tarpon fever, you'll have to come back in June, July, August to catch a tarpon! It's the most exciting fishing that I have ever seen and the fish jump out of the water frequently!
You will have a lovely time, it's such a special and beautiful place!
If there is anything that you will need, please let me know!
This VRBO partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
I'm a therapist in Sarasota with three busy sons! I love to spend time in Boca, but also love to share the space with your family. Our best memories are on the Boca beach, floating in the pool, running around at the park! It's such a magical place. We hope that you love it as much as we do.
Ann Taylor Roman purchased this house in 2004
It's been our family home for a long time, we hope that we've made it comfy for you. A lovely kitchen with lots of space and all of the necessities! You won't want to go home. It's a cozy house so you don't have to fret about sandy toes.
Our neighborhood is so friendly! We love our neighbors and have been friends with them for years. You'll feel right at home when you arrive. If there is anything that you need, just let us know!
Great location. Fun and easy house. On the list to do again. Of note - Thought the prior review too harsh.
I do not suggest renting this place. We arrived, and, within an hour, left to find somewhere else to stay. This house is rundown, unsafe, dirty, and in disrepair. The carpets are stained and worn. The walls have numerous chips and holes in them. There is a broken door handle, broken shower rod, broken and unsafe stair tread, broken and unsafe play set. The lanai has numerous holes in the screens, with a palm tree growing right through it! Many of the lights and ceiling fans do not work. The pool is stained and dirty. The fridge was dirty, and the kitchen utensils were gross. There were two huge cobwebs with dead bugs in them...one in the kitchen, and one over a bed. The a/c vents were coated with dust. When we talked to the owner about things, she said that others loved it, and did nothing to remedy any of the issues. She offered to put it back up for rent, so we could recover our money, but only did so for single days at a time...hardly helpful. After our initial communication, she did not contact us, at all, to work anything out. When I contacted her, ten days later, she stated that I was looking in every nook and cranny for reasons to complain...like I spent a day getting there and forfeited my money, just to complain. This is not true. Everything was plain to see. The last thing we wanted was to leave the place we were looking forward to enjoying. Why would I complain, just for fun. I paid her money to enjoy a nice vacation! She, also, said that it is an old island home, and is priced accordingly, in a high rent area, and suggested that I made a mistake by using the instant book function. I suppose she’s right, as this whole experience was a mistake. I didn’t expect a new home, but I do expect a clean, safe property for my family to enjoy, and I expect that appropriate maintenance has been performed. I figure that’s reasonable, at any price. The owner states that it is a good value...maybe if you don’t care about any of the things I’ve mentioned. If you book it, bring a contractor and a cleaning crew. She stated that this will be the last season before renovations. Clearly, if you read between the lines, she knows the place needs help, but is happy to take your money, in the meantime. She, even, kept the cleaning fee that I paid. We didn’t spend a single night! Unbelievable. Boca Grande/Gasparilla Island is an awesome place. I’m sure the owner is a nice lady, and I wish her well, but if you book this house, don’t expect much.
We found the house to be in poor condition with some aspects downright unsafe, especially for children. There was a play structure in the yard that was falling down, railings missing from part of the deck which posed a threat for a child to fall through, the main beam holding up the lanai is full of wood rot, there are holes in the screen on the back porch with palm trees growing through them, the tub on the main floor doesn't drain well when taking a shower, holes in the walls in the upstairs bedroom, the very large and heavy banister going to the second floor fell off the wall when my daughter went up the stairs posing a threat to injury, the railing going into the pool is not secure, not to mention the pool is cold. We left after two nights, which is how long it took to find other accommodations in Boca Grande. I do not recommend wasting your money here.
My family had a lovely time at the Sunny Family Getaway Beach Home. This home suited us very well. It was comfortable and clean. The kitchen was easy to work in. The pantry was an added bonus. The outdoor deck was our favorite spot as well as the inviting pool area. This home was priced very well. The owner was very accommodating and timely with communications. Would recommend families to stay at this nice Boca Grande rental.
Ann thanks for renting us your house it was beautiful me and my kids loved it we hope to come back soon
This home was perfect all the amenities you need. I can't wait to stay here again on our next trip to Boca Grande. Ann was excellent, very easy to work with. We caught a lot of fish near by, love the beautiful beach (not far from the house), and relaxed in the pool in the backyard. It was an amazing trip, Gasprilla Island, Boca Grande is my favorite place in Florida. We will definitely be booking Ann's wonderful home again.
