About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathroom, 2 half bath, outside shower, sleeps 8

SummersPort is the perfect combination of old and new and South Thomaston provides a beautiful setting. This 1857 farmhouse was lovingly restored to retain its charm but made modern and expansive. The previous owner, an antiques dealer, carefully selected antique and beautiful new materials to create a unique home that feels both intimate and dramatic. The original side of the house contains the updated kitchen, a quiet room, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a laundry room. The new side of the house looks like a converted barn and contains a giant great room, bath (adjacent to outside shower) and the upstairs master bedroom. The bedroom, like the great room, has high ceilings which accommodate two ladder-entry loft spaces. The master bath is large and a small covered porch extends off the bedroom. Views from most rooms in the house overlook water and the beautifully landscaped acre and a half.

The property has lots of decks, tables, chairs, flowers and umbrellas for enjoying the outdoors.

The property has a dock with upper deck for dining and lower deck for swimming or kayak launching.

The village has a public boat launch.

The yard is a relatively flat, grassed acre for playing games or having picnics.

The house contains a small workout room with treadmill, recumbant bike, free weights, jump rope.

Lovely Maine house

  • 5 of 5

This Maine house was simply wonderful. Six of us stayed there and everyone loved it. The gardens are so beautiful -- in fact, we raided the vegetable garden each morning for fresh ingredients for omelets. The living room easily handled a post-rehearsal dinner crowd of almost 20 very easily. There’s a terrific kitchen and classic East Coast harbor views.

Wonderful Week!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this beautiful home for a week and the experience was magical. The location was perfect with Rockland, Rockport and Camden close by. The house is situated on the water with dock access and the property showcases an expansive back lawn with lovely landscaping. The house offers a well equipped kitchen and wonderfully decorated bedrooms and living spaces. We loved our stay and hope to visit again.

Perfect Maine Experience

  • 5 of 5

The house and grounds were simply beautiful. Our expectations were exceeded. Lori has thought of everything, from arrival wine to paper goods, laundry soaps, library, recreational equipment, games for rainy days, cooler, luxury linens, music cds, and I could go on and on. This did not feel like a 'rental home', it just felt like home... but better! The decorating and upcycling of architectural elements was so well done. Although there is so much to explore in this area, we just loved being in the house too. Next time we will plan for two weeks!

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

WOW! Great house in a perfect location. We loved staying in this house. The first couple of days we went exporing to the local beaches and towns. By the third day, I realized the best place to be was at the house. The outdoor furntiure & patio is a perfect place to spend the day. The house even has a kayak if you want to explore the waters. The king bed in the master was so comfortable, we had no problems sleeping. The master bathroom has two separate sinks and a rain shower. If you want a great location, great beds, and great bathrooms, choose this house! The kitchen has a sub zero fridge and viking stove. Top notch all the way. Lori was great to work with (thanks for the wine and flowers!).

The SummersPort house sits on the mouth of the Weskeag River in the authentic lobstering village of South Thomaston, Maine. Businesses in the village and nearby include galleries, gift-shops, a general store/deli and great places to eat fresh-caught lobster dinner right on the dock. A short drive away are beautiful beaches, a lighthouse, a museum and a winery and a brand-new Equestrian center, Pepper Hill Farm.

As you drive out of the village, there's a lot of Maine to explore in all directions. A drive south will lead you onto the St George Peninsula where you'll find quaint villages, a lighthouse, kayak tours or the mail boat to Monhegan Island where you can spend a day hiking or visiting art studios.

Five miles after you leave the house headed north, you'll discover Rockland, the largest city in the region and a burgeoning center for the arts. It's charming downtown district is filled with art galleries, museums and shops. You'll also find great restaurants, windjammer tours and island ferries. The town also has a couple large supermarkets, movie theaters and two golf courses.

North of South Thomaston are the quintessentially pretty New England villages of Rockport and Camden. In Rockport visit the Maine Contemporary Art Museum or Aldemere Farm. The village of Camden is known for its boutiques, restaurants, inns, small hotels and gift shops. A hike in the Camden Hills State Park, just two miles north of town, or a drive up the Mt. Battie Road for a bird's-eye view of the Camden Harbor, is a great way to spend a day.

Whether you spend your time in South Thomaston at the house (working out, swimming, kayaking, barbequing or just relaxing) or if you decide to get in a car and go exploring you'll enjoy every minute of your time in Maine. It is after all... 'Vacation land'.
