Wanted a cool place to spend the summer months within a day's drive of our home in Virginia Beach. Looked at condos in Wintergreen, VA and Banner Elk, NC. After two stays at Sugartop decided that was the place for us. The views and amenities are unbeatable, and there are so many fun things to do just a few minutes away!

Great view for the price, central location

We enjoyed staying on the top floor of Sugar Top Condos. The nightly price was very competitive, and unbeatable for the view. The condo has an efficiency kitchen, a nice living room with seating for 7, a hall bath w/shower+tub, a bedroom w/ Queen and nice view through the windows, and a master w/King and same nice windowed view and attached master bath. ~1100 square feet total. Both bathrooms are relatively small, but pleasant for 1 person each at a time. The balcony is roomy enough for the occupancy size, but lacks any furniture, save for a newly built minimalist alcove bench. An outdoor removable cushion here would be great.

Our visit was in June, so the days were warmer and the only method of cooling were open windows. That proved to be relatively ineffective w/o any fans or controlled method of moving the warm air outside. It was OK, but we would have enjoyed it more had the weather been cooler or the property had A/C.

The location of the property is just to the side of Sugar Mountain, on the ridge line. Once you have gotten to the bottom of the 8-10 minute mountain road, you are very close to Banner Elk and Linville and Beech Mtn, with a short drive to Valle Crucis, Boone or Blowing Rock. I found the location to be extremely convenient for having a central residency to visit said areas.

The property staff were pleasant and helpful. It was somewhat annoying to have to use the shuttle for parking. Folks who've rented are given a lower priority to park in the close lots vs the property owners. What didn't make sense to me is that I am taking the place of the property owner during this rental, so I felt that I should have similar parking priority as the not-present owner. This is the policy of the condominium property and/or board, not the property owner Ed.

Ed was extremely courteous and helpful throughout the process. I would stay in other properties from Ed, as well as stay here again. His instructions were clear and precise and helped make the experience a smooth and satisfying one.

Best stay in the mountains

We are used to staying in cabins and decided to go condo this trip, very good decision! Best stay in the mountains we’ve ever had. The master bedroom is king size and very comfortable. The condo was very clean, well stocked with supplies including linens and dishes. Updated and decorated quite nicely. Very friendly staff And security. The view from the 10th floor was wonderful.

Fabulous View. Updated, clean unit.

Excellent unit. Close to the elevator and being on the top floor make for a peaceful stay. Linens and unit were in great condition. We were pleased with the staff and the owner for their customer service. I would recommend this unit to my friends.

Great Stay!

This unit is amazing! It was updated nicely and very clean. It is right off the elevator and has a great view of the slopes below and surrounding mountains. The pool and hot tub downstairs are great when coming in from out of the cold. The beds were very comfortable (extra soft fuzzy blankets available too) and the kitchen equipped nicely to cook for a family of four. I highly recommend this unit for families with electronics addicted kids, lol. The owner has outlet everywhere for charging multiple devices in convenient locations! This was a nice touch! The owner was very quick to respond when I emailed him with a question as well. I would highly recommend this unit for your stay, you won't be disappointed!
