Please read the full description for information on the resort fees.

Welcome to Princeville on the stunning North Shore of Kauai. Hotel room unit steps from restaurant, pool and a short walk or shuttle to beach. Room is air-conditioned, about 400 sq. ft., king bed, and lanai with gorgeous emerald mountain views, and most of the time the waterfalls are running, creating amazing waterfall views.

There is no kitchen in this unit, as it is a hotel room. However, there is a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster and coffee machine. If you need a kitchen, there is a studio next door available with a full kitchen. (VRBO Listing #965648).

Hanalei Bay Resort is a 22-acre resort, and many units require a long walk or shuttle to the front door from the parking lot and an up to a 3-story stair climb, but this unit is on the ground floor, and the front door is literally steps away from the parking lot (I counted 10 steps), and there are no stairs to climb.

Guests are entitled to amenities of the resort, which include:

Golf cart shuttle to beach

Gorgeous lava rock waterfall pool with swim-up bar and hot tub

Kid’s area at pool with sandy beach and shallow water

Beach towels at the pool desk

Beach chairs, mats, coolers, umbrellas, surfboards, snorkel gear and kayaks for rent at pool desk

Free Mai Tais on Mondays at pool at 3:00

World famous tennis courts

Tennis lessons available for beginners to pros, children and adults, from our tennis pro from the renowned Peter Burwash International organization

Fitness Room with bike, treadmill, elliptical and weights

Outdoor barbecue cooking area with stove

Sunset viewing area with fire pit

Happy Talk Lounge (bar and restaurant) with live music every night from 7-9

Hospitality Room with lounge area, TV and kitchen for guests to use after checking out to wait for flight

Free Parking

Free Internet

Housekeeping service is available

Laundry Room nearby

The reopening of Bali Hai Restaurant is planned soon

There is an $21 daily resort fee that will be collected when you check out, and there is a $25 check-in fee.

Why Steve Thomassin chose Princeville

I have loved the island of Kauai since my first visit over 40 years ago. I had the pleasure of vacationing at Hanalei Bay Resort many times and found myself utterly captivated by the magnificent grounds and breathtaking views. It is a dream come true to now have my own place here. In all my travels throughout my life, nothing can match this ideal location. I look forward to sharing the beauty and wonder of this paradise with you. Its magic will hopefully touch your soul as it has for me--not just during your stay here, but long afterward in countless relived beautiful memories..

What makes this resort unique

My units have breathtaking views of magical mountains that often come to life with streaming waterfalls. The expanse of green grass and tropical foliage leading up to those mountain views is just delightful. From a practical point of view, as great as Hanalei Bay Resort is, most units require climbing one or two flights of stairs since there are no elevators. Also, most units are quite a distance from the parking lot. Both conditions can pose difficulties for older guests or people with injuries. My units are ground floor and right by the parking lot. You have no stairs at all to worry about. This is particularly nice when dealing with luggage or groceries. My units are also conveniently located near the front desk, the amazing tropical pool, and the world-class tennis courts. In spite of these conveniences, your view here makes you feel as you have the tropical plants and emerald mountains all to yourself. And if the outside temperatures and humidity should ever become uncomfortable for you, my units are among the very few with wonderful air conditioning. Speaking of comfort, I just installed 55 inch ultra HD television sets into both units for your viewing pleasure when you are not outside enjoying all the sites. And even though 1106 does not have a kitchen, it does have a refrigerator, a freezer, a microwave oven, a coffee machine, a toaster, and a hot plate for the extra convenience of my guests. So many times when I have stayed in rooms I have wanted to have these conveniences available. I try to treat my guests as I would want to be treated myself.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved staying at Hanalei Bay Resort. Our room had a beautiful view of the garden and was close to the lagoon pool. The room was comfortable with a great television and king size bed. We were glad to have a small refrig and microwave for light meals and snacks, although there is an outdoor cooking area as well.

We had a lovely stay here. The condo was close to all facilities. The resort is beautiful with all amenities available. The condo was very clean. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful view and convenient location

  • 5 of 5

The unit was in a perfect location, next to everything. Everything was clean and lovely. I did not notice a smell, which I was concerned about because I read it in another review. I have no complaints about this unit. I highly recommend it and I will definitely come back.

Ok Stay

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our 1 night stay here. The resort was very pretty, but we didn't get a chance to enjoy the amenities. It was rainy and cold when we were there. The room was doable 3 (2 adults & 1 small child) for 1 night. The room needs some updating. It has potential. I like how it was so close to the lobby, pool, and restaurant, but not so close where you will hear all the noise.

Nice hideaway

  • 3 of 5

General condition was average but the Wi-Fi did not work 90% of the time we were there. I had to go into the hotels front desk area to get connected. Reported problem to front desk 10 minutes after I arrived.

Would have been nice to have been informed that the main restaurant was closed for repair.

Beautiful grounds yet thin walls

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this property for 2 nights. We didn’t hang around too much because we were off site seeing. It was very nice in the time we spent there. The employees are nice, the gift shop is convenient, the beach is easily walkable down a paved path to Hanalei bay. The only real issue we had the entire time was very thin walls. We could hear the people next to us talking perfectly clear as if they were there with us. We could also hear every time they were in the bathroom. Because we weren’t in the room much it really wasn’t too bothersome except very early in the morning. Other than that we were happy with the easy parking, restaurant for happy hour, beautiful grounds, and lanai with a beautiful Mountain View. We are very happy to have stayed here and will definitely hold a special place in our hearts for Kauai!
