My husband, Joshua, and I live in the upstairs apartment. One of us will be present and available for the duration of your stay. If we happen to be away together, one of our neighbors will be engaged to help you. We are more than willing to point you in the direction of local attractions or services, or, if you prefer, just leave you to explore a for yourselves. We provide information about shopping and restaurants in the neighborhood on our "guide" page on airbnb.
This apartment is located in a safe, residential neighborhood in Western Queens, close to the East River. We are a short walking distance from Astoria Park with its spectacular views of Manhattan and Randal's Island, an Olympic-size swimming pool, a running track, playground, dog walk, grassy fields and summer concert series. Astoria is noted for its plethora of destination restaurants, cafes, and interesting ethnic markets. Sparrow Tavern, the Bohemian Beer Hall, the Let Love Inn are a stones throw away, and arguably the best place in NYC to get bagels is within 2 blocks of this apartment (people stop on the way to Laguardia to pick up a dozen). The neighborhood people are a wonderful mix of new immigrants from every corner of the world, old Greek people :), artists, writers, performers, regular working folk, and their families. It's a great place to live, or visit.
The N and W trains to Manhattan are located two blocks away on 31st Street and Ditmars Blvd. It is a 20 min. ride to Manhattan (Lexington and 59th Street) from there. Trains run all day/night. The M60 bus to Laguardia Airport (east) and Harlem 125th (west) is also two blocks away at Astoria Blvd and 31st Street. If you need us to call for a car service to take you to the airport, or train station, please let us know.
This space is not available for film/commercial shoots. Really.
