Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Welcome to Iseminger Street!

Nestled on one of the most quiet & charming car-free streets in Philadelphia only a few blocks from Independence Mall & the Liberty Bell. This property is an entire two bedroom & two bath home. *Note: It is rare to find a comparable home in the neighborhood with two full bathrooms & private bedrooms. One king bed, one queen bed, & one pull out couch. Large back patio, wood fireplace, dishwasher, laundry, Xfinity/Comcast cable TV, high-speed internet, coffee maker, & all essentials included (fresh towels, linens, extra blankets, soap, hair dryer, etc.). Just a few blocks from the PA Convention Center and near the heart of all the historic sights Philly has to offer!

While still firmly rooted in history dating back to the 1800s, this house has also been thoroughly updated. What is so special about this home is the original detailing: wood-beamed ceilings, original plank floors, fireplace (fireplace in living room can be used & other three fireplaces are only decorative), paneled doors, & vintage built-ins. Eat in kitchen, large back patio, two spacious bedrooms, & two bathrooms (One is custom & was added December 2016). Sleeps up to five people comfortably.

**Please be aware that this property has somewhat steep stairs -- typically ok for most but may not be suitable for very young children or the elderly.**

The entire home is yours to enjoy! The key will be left in a lockbox, so you'll be able to check in & out at your convenience. I will be available throughout your stay if you need anything & I'm always happy to help you customize your Philadelphia experience. If you need any advice on restaurants & things to do then please ask!

My home is in the middle of the Washington Square West neighborhood & was built in 1824. It is one of the oldest & most historic areas in Philadelphia. The neighborhood is residential with historic townhouses, but also walking distance to everything in Philadelphia including many restaurants, bars, & attractions. The Pennsylvania Convention Center, Rittenhouse Square, Old City, Society Hill, South Street, Bella Vista, & Graduate Hospital are all within a five to ten minute walk. The street is one of the most charming in Philadelphia & is quiet despite being in the middle of the city. You'll find everything you might need within walking distance including a corner store, coffee shops, Whole Foods, a wine/liquor store, Walgreens, & many top rated bars & restaurants!

Public transportation (bus & subway) is easily accessible. There is a bus stop just east of 13th & Lombard & the subway stop (Broad Street Line) is located at Broad & Walnut. The house is within walking distance to two major train stations (Suburban Station & Jefferson Station). 30th Street Station is a ten minute Uber/cab ride & airport is twenty minute Uber/cab (usually under $20)! Uber, Lyft, & taxis are all readily available in the area. There is also an Indego bike share station just a couple blocks from the house on 13th between Locust and Walnut.

Because my home is located on a car-free street in the heart of the city, nearby street parking can be limited. However, there are a few parking garages & public parking lots close by that charge about $25/day to park. Most street parking near the house is fine for 2 hours, but you can go a few blocks south of South Street to park for extended periods of time & I'm always happy to offer tips & help assist. I may be able to provide parking permits for the same price the city charges me. Just ask first because of limited availability.

Trip taken June 1-5, 2018.

This home has everything you could possibly want! Kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal, make coffee, wash clothes, etc. The bathrooms have extra shampoo, conditioner, lotion, even Q-tips. Brook is completely accommodating, and quick to respond to any questions, comments, etc. The stairs are indeed steep and curved, but if you tour the Betsy Ross house or the homes open for tour at Elfreth's Alley, you will see that the home was built in the typical style for that period. It was for efficiency sake in temperature control. My husband and I enjoy walking, but quickly decided to buy all day passes on the Phlash bus line to cover more ground quickly. I had not been to the Museum of the American Revolution, and highly recommend that one, as well as the more established historical sights. We liked the Green Eggs cafe for breakfast, and the Finn McCool's for early dinner. This street is very quiet, and there are little markets close so you can walk 5 minutes and get whatever you would like to have. We enjoyed our time spent here, especially when we got back each evening and it was so quiet.

Simply Wonderful! Highly Recommend!

My family and I stayed for a week at this beautiful, historic row-house and couldn't have been been more pleased. Not only is the home centrally located to all of the historic sights, but it is also convenient to fantastic restaurants that you can stroll to on a whim. Nestled away on a cobblestone street, nights are so quiet that you will forget that you are in the heart of Philly. I highly recommend this gem for one night or a week.

Full of character and charm in a historic district. Extremely comfortable and well equipped.

A charming early 19th century house over four levels - warning, there is a steep spiral staircase so this is not a place for the unfit or elderly. It was very quiet, comfortable and warm - important as we were there in an unusually cold spring. The owner Brook lives nearby and this is always a plus, not that we needed anything addressed during our stay. She is very generous with all her supplies in the kitchen and two bathrooms.
