One Bedroom Luxury Casita w/lap pool on the Beach

Property description

Intimate Hideaway on the Beach

Luxurious one-bedroom casita just steps from sand of the Sea of Cortez. Perfect for a couple looking for a romantic get-a-way or a solo traveler desiring special accommodations on the water.

Imagine being lulled to sleep by the sound of the sea in a king size feather-topped bed and waking to the brilliant colors of the sunrise behind Isla Carmen. Custom designed and hand-built cedar furniture incorporates sea glass and shells along with overstuffed leather sofas adorn the 755 square foot casita. Fully equipped kitchen has 5 burner stove, microwave, Calphalon cookware and granite countertops. Both the interior and exterior bathrooms incorporate hand painted tiles and oversized mirrors.

The front patio is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise with morning coffee or evening cocktails as the sky changes color behind the islands. Out back, a 50’ lap pool and entertainment center with state-of-the-art gas grill, sit-down bar and outdoor dining area. Separate restroom and outdoor showers, along with pool toys, beach chairs and umbrella. In the garage, standup paddle boards and two bicycles for your enjoyment

Flat screen TV, DVD, satellite cable, wireless Internet, books, DVDS, 500 count cotton sheets and fluffy towels complete the interior amenities. Separate A/C units for each room – including the bathroom – insure temperature control to personal tastes.

A full-time caretaker is on the grounds to answer questions or help you arrange for a fishing trip – with beach front pickup – or a day exploring the islands.

Casita de Catalina is less than a mile from town – a short walk on the beach – and 5 minutes by car from the heart of Loreto. Restaurants, grocery stores, fishing excursion, scuba lessons and/or dive trips, winter whale watching, glass-bottom boat tours, kayaking adventures, hikes up oasis-like canyons and mule rides to local ranchos can all be arranged. A walk on the pristine Malecon, through the historic district and the Zocolo will further flavor your Loreto experience - truly a "Pueblo Magico."

About Catharine Cooper

I am an avid water person - swim, surf, SUP, sail snorkel - and am proud to call Loreto my second home. A beach girl from the go - I consider it a luxury to launch my SUP boards, kayaks and sailboat from the sand in front of my home. My dog Buster was born on the beach in Loreto - the offspring of two rescue pups. He has become bi-coastal (southern California) and bi-lingual. Woof in both Spanish and English.

Catharine Cooper purchased this house in 2006

Why Catharine Cooper chose Baja California Sur

Casita is newly built - 2016 - on the lot that was contiguous to the main house - Casa de Catalina - purchased in 2006. It was love at first sight - the only property I looked at and made an immediate offer. Perfect location - great neighbors - and the constancy of the sea just steps from the house.

What makes this house unique

Proximity to the water. The magic of the Sea of Cortez and Loreto which is one of a select Mexican cities to earn the title "Pueblo Magico." The CASITA, pool and entertainment areas were a 9 year dream in the making. Am thrilled to be able to share the location and unique building with family and friends - both new and old.

Absolutely Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Quality, private, quiet and very clean. This little place could not be designed any more perfectly. We celebrated our anniversary here and wish we had booked more than 7 nights. This perfect little casita is right on the beach. We loved the beautiful sunrise every morning and a romantic moonrise every night. Rode the bikes to town to shop for groceries or eat at one of the several fantastic restaurants. Sometimes we called a taxi for the 5 min drive if we did not feel like biking. Paddle boards are easier to use than we thought. We did not swim in the sea as the water was too cold, so the pool was perfect! I would not change a thing. We look forward to returning and celebrating next year! Thank you Catharine for creating this little home.

Perfection on the beach

  • 5 of 5

The Casita was spotless and seems brand new. It's very private. We left the screened doors and windows open at night to catch the sea breeze and sound of the waves. The grill area and outdoor showers were nice features. We biked into town twice each day for grocery shopping and happy hour. We tried out the SUPs on a very calm day. We recommend Dolphin Diving for snorkeling and diving trips out to the National Park Islands. Rafa, the owner is a great guy. We swam with sea lions and saw so many dolphins! Thanks for a great week.

Beautiful one bedroom Casita

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Casita and loved our stay. It is right on the beach and was so nice to wake up every morning with the ocean outside your door. The Casita is in a quiet area but is still close enough to town to walk or ride a bike. It is new, very clean and has everything you could possibly need. There is a beautiful pool and Bbq area as well in the back yard which is great for the nights you want to cook in. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.

Magical stay in Loreto!

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly magical 3 weeks at Casita Catalina and really didn't want to leave. It is situated in a perfect location, right on the beach in a quiet neighbourhood, a walk along the beach to town. We watched the amazing sunrises while sipping our coffees from the comfort of our beach chairs, often followed by yoga on the beach, paddle boarding, swimming in the lap pool, and hiking on the beach. We saw blue whales, dolphins and lots of birdlife from the casita.

The casita itself was spotless and very tastefully decorated, with a very well equipped kitchen which allowed us to cook what we purchased from the local weekly farmers market and the shops in town. There were many small thoughtful details which added to a comfortable stay.

We ate at several restaurants which were all good, Mediteranneo (good gluten free options), Isla, Mi Loreto and others. There are lots we didn't try and will have to do so next time. Our search for the best margarita was extensive and hard to make a call......but we will keep trying. There is also a great used bookstore full of English books, which is great for travellers.

Although you can walk to town, a car is really recommended and will allow trips to explore the area and its interesting history, such as the San Javier mission. There are many opportunities to explore the islands by boat, hiking trails, biking, kayaking.....so no shortage of activities. The town itself is fun to explore with an interesting history of the early settlement of the Baja region.

Loreto itself is very safe and clean and we didn't worry about eating the food, as can be the case on main land Mexico. The local people were very friendly and genuine.

All in all, a big thank you to Catherine, who has created a lovely peaceful sanctuary, and was so gracious and laid back. (I almost hesitate to give a good review, because I don't want to lose my spot for next year:))

Heaven on Earth in Loreto

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED our stay in this beautiful Casita right on the beach! It was perfect for the two of us, and Catharine provided everything we needed to make it feel like home. It was clean, well appointed, and the decor was so tastefully done. We woke every morning to incredible sunrises, relaxed in the chaises looking out at the sea or next to the lap pool, and enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. Even though we could walk to town along the beach, we highly recommend having a car. We drove into town (partly on dirt roads) daily, walked & shopped in the charming old town, and ate at several restaurants. Our favorite restaurant was La Picazon. North on a dirt road for 20+ minutes, it was worth it with incredible views and the most delicious food! One day, we took a guided boat from the marina to see the whales in the bay. The town was so clean, and everyone that we met were friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning in the future. Thank you Catharine for creating this heavenly retreat.
