About Mary Ann MacCartney
We are part time residents in Mexico and part time in Florida. We have fallen head over heals for San Miguel and spend as much time as possible enjoying the culture and climate. Prior to retiring we were expats for 30+ years living in South America, Africa, Asia and finally Israel.
Mary Ann MacCartney purchased this Condo in 2016
Why Mary Ann MacCartney chose Zona Centro
We searched for a home that was close to all the cultural attractions of San Miguel but still tranquil and quiet. Having plenty of space for guests and not having to worry about security made this home perfect. Off street parking was also a bonus as this can be at a premium in San Miguel
What makes this Condo unique
My favorite aspect of this home are the tranquil gardens. The home is well appointed and very comfortable with WiFi, Smart Tv, and everything you could wish for in the kitchen. The location is not far from the Artisanal Market and very close to the galleries and restaurants of the Fabrica Aurora.

Casa Oasis was everything as described on HomeAway!
Casa Oasis was a great choice. The location was very convenient to many local markets for fresh meats, cheeses and every type of produce imaginable. A very easy and safe walk to Centro San Miguel. We cooked in a lot but there is no shortage of great restaurants all a short walk away. The home is well stocked with everything you’d expect. Casa Oasis was quiet at night as it is just far enough from Centro to be unaffected by the “bar crowd”. We would definitely consider staying at Casa Oasis again.
Just right all around
Casa Oasis was the perfect place for us to stay in San Miguel. The two-story attached house was comfortable and well-equipped. The master bedroom suite was just perfect for the two of us, although there is plenty of room for others in this 3-bedroom unit. The location is also really excellent - an easy flat walk to the jardin is about 15 minutes and feels very safe. Shopping for food on Mesones was also very convenient - the fruit/veg store and Bonanza had everything we needed. And it's a 5 minute walk to the great Fabrica la Aurora! Our host made our stay very easy and enjoyable.
Quiet location near busy Centro
We have stayed at many different rental properties in San Miguel over the last 8 years and this has been one of our favorites. The property is secure, very quiet for San Miguel, nice mostly flat walk to center of town, well-equipped kitchen and bathrooms, whole house water filter, easy to keep warm at night with small heaters, and we loved the garden in the courtyard. We will definitely consider staying here again!
Such an amazing and beautiful place to stay!
This beautiful condo was terrific to return to after a days adventures. All creature comforts were present and tended to. The outdoor areas were so pleasant to relax in that it made for hard choices to even leave the compound! I promise you will not be disappointed!
Casa Oasis lives up to it's name!
When looking for a place to stay on my first visit to San Miguel, I hoped to find an accommodation that would be close enough to walk to all the action of the town center yet far enough away that we were able to relax and decompress while at home. I found all this and more at Casa Oasis. The casa is a located in a grassy court yard that is surrounded with beautiful plantings. It is quiet and safe. There is a locking gate enter/exit the beautiful complex. There is a full time gardener during the day, and a security guard at night. It was important to me to feel secure, as I was traveling with my teen age daughter and older parents. We were able to walk into town for dinner, and we always chose to walk home, rather than take a cab (which is very easy and inexpensive,) because the evenings in San Miguel are lovely and the walk is completely safe. An added bonus to the location is Muro, a cafe located 10 minutes uphill, which is the best place in San Miguel for breakfast and lunch.
The true highlight of the casa is on the inside. It very much felt like we were staying at the home of a thoughtful, good friend. The artwork is lovely and interesting, the furnishings tasteful and in excellent condition. The tile work in the bathrooms is beautiful, and there are so many special touches to make one feel welcome and cared for.
I would recommend Casa Oasis with out reservation to anyone who is searching for the combination of being close enough to the center to take complete advantage of it, but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. We will definitely be back.
Trust the previous enthusiastic reviews!
We stayed at this "garden oasis" for a month over Christmas, and were very pleased at our choice. Where to begin? Maybe with our initial communications with the owner, Mary Ann, who was inevitably quick to respond, cordial, and helpful. We were met on arrival at the locked gate by the property manager, Lucero, who was very pleasant and who quickly dealt with a few minor challenges we had during our stay--a broken pump, an additional set of keys, lack of propane one morning. She even brought her husband with her one day to explain how to work the DVD player. Then there's the location, which is, indeed, a bit of an oasis. The area itself is not particularly attractive, but the condo is set at the rear of beautiful gardens, probably one the quietest locations in central San Miguel, and only about a 20-minute walk to El Jardin in the centre of town. The condo itself is really comfortable and charming, with a real Mexican flavour reflected in the architecture and furnishings. The layout worked well for us as we were a couple with a friend, and then my daughter over Christmas. Our friend's main level bedroom and bath, tucked away through the kitchen, were very private. My husband and I used the spacious balcony bedroom upstairs, which opened onto the upstairs patio and the much-appreciated washer and drier. The king-size bed and the linens were outstanding. Across the hall, and separated by the bathroom, was another very nice bedroom, used by my daughter for the ten days she was with us. All the bedrooms had more than enough hanging and drawer storage. Downstairs, as you will see in the photos, was the attractive living/dining room, and leading to the kitchen, "the office," which proved to be extremely useful for keeping bits of pieces of information, handbags, etc. The kitchen itself was particularly well-equipped and functional. We were delighted that it came with all the basic condiments , which were much appreciated by us. Altho' there isn't any dishwasher, we didn't find this a problem. Both the living/dining area and the kitchen open onto a small patio. We had been warned not to stay anywhere without adequate heat as December/January can be cold at night. Happily, the propane heaters in this condo were excellent. We made great use of the DVD player as the owner has a terrific collection of classic DVDs. Another plus was the once-weekly maid, Marisol, who was incredibly cheery and efficient. A great place to stay--highly recommended!
Thank you for staying with us. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. San Miguel is magical and it is always nice to hear that our home did not disappoint! I hope we will have the chance to welcome you back again.
San Miguel is the artistic and cultural center of Mexico. It is sophisticated but still filled with Mexican charm. There is a enormous variety of live music, theatre, films, dance and an unending supply of art galleries to browse. Because of the long standing international community for restaurant scene is excellent from fine dining to cute little taco stands,
We are very close to the Fabrica Auroura, an outstanding art center housed in an old textile factory. Several good restaurants are just minutes from our home. Directly across the street is a luxury hotel, Live Aqua which has several restaurants plus a bakery.
Ventannas golf and country club is nearby as well.
