Great location, but condo was not as advertised

Having paid up front and in full, staying on the property for over four months, these are the issues we experienced:

1. Condo was extremely dirty when we arrived. Notified owner and she scheduled a cleaning service within three days,

2. Immediately upon arrival, we experienced a very bad allergic reaction. After inspection of heating and cooling filter, we discovered it to be extremely filthy and long over due for service. Notified owner, who claimed that she had just changed it herself a couple weeks prior to our arrival. If review site permitted, I would have posted pictures of the filter, to show how old and dirty it was.

3. Owner advertised master bedroom bed, as king sized. We own both a queen and king size bed and this bed is somewhere between a full and queen size. Nowhere near a king size.

4. Condo did have laundry facilities as advertised, but the need to use a step stool to climb onto a small ledge approx. two feet above the garage floor, made it quite the adventure on laundry day. This was all due to the use of a top load washer and dryer, instead of a front load, as the space was designed for.

We also experienced no salt in the water softener and clogged drains. In these and other instances above, requiring maintenance and replacement materials, owner instructed us to purchase needed material and provide our labor to remedy the problem. We requested reimbursement for all out of pocket expenses and we were assured that this would be taken care of. Going on almost two weeks now, since we vacated the property and we haven't received any reimbursement to date. I would not recommend this property and we're only giving it two stars rather than zero because of it's location.

During initial rental agreement negotiations with the owner, we were assured that we could extend our stay beyond the prepaid period until the home we are building is completed. Four weeks before the end of our prepaid stay we were told that this was no longer an option because she had rented the unit to a friend. Obviously from our earlier conversation, we were surprised and not prepared for this, so we had to search for other arrangements and are thankful to our daughter and her husband for taking us in.

Owner's Response: It is unfortunate that my condo didn't live up to the guests expectations. Though I've never received any such complaints from previous guests or guests thereafter, I did address each concern the guest had every week during their stay, especially the cleaning, as that is a huge concern of mine. The cleaning was scheduled within 24hrs of the guest alerting me of their dissatisfaction and the cleaning professional that serviced the house did advise that it just needed a dusting as the home wasn't occupied for 3 weeks prior to the guests arrival. Because of the constant hotel like concerns from the guest, I did reserve the right, not to extend the guests stay, as I was sure they would be better off in a more hotel like environment. The guest was given a 4 week advance notice. Finally, a check was sent to the guest to reimburse them for an air filter and a bag of salt for the water softener, once I returned home from traveling for work. Once again, it was very unfortunate that my condo, didn't meet the guesta expectations and I will continually strive to provide future guests a clean and conveniently located "home away from home," experience.

Quiet, private, & lots to walk and see!

Very gracious hostess. Modern and clean space. Family friendly. 3 playgrounds and pools and lots of sidewalks within the community. Convenient location with everything you need around the corner!
