Natural, Secluded & Restorative
Stay in a 19th century log cabin with thoughtful, modern amenities in a secluded natural environment.
The Wilderness Cabin is a refined 2 bedroom log cabin located on a private, wooded parcel of 23 acres overlooking the Hungry River and a bubbling stream. The structure was originally built in the early 1900s and was recently moved to the property and completely renovated.
The moody, rustic properties of the historic log structure are complimented by clean, modern finishes and light-filled spaces. The heated tile floors, a chef’s kitchen, natural stone, linen sofas and large windows create a calm, meditative space. The cozy living room with brick fireplace, modern open kitchen, sitting room and covered porch offer a variety of gathering places to enjoy inside and outside the house.
The cabin is the perfect romantic get-away or quiet retreat. The property is surrounded by woods, river views, and the sounds of flowing water plus a private trail that takes you to the river. Watch for wild turkeys and owls roosting in the trees.
The drive to the cabin from I-26 takes you through miles of beautiful apple orchards. If you come in mid-September to mid-October be sure to stop at Lively Orchards to pick up some freshly picked apples.
It is very easy to access the cabin, via only paved roads. The home affords year round access, does not require 4-wheel drive, and is not off any steep rural mountain roads. There are incredible hikes in the area, including several in the Green River Gorge area.
The drive into Historic Downtown Flat Rock takes about ten minutes. Get a wood-fired pizza and beer at the Flat Rock Village Bakery or some Hubba Bubba Barbeque. The home of Carl Sandburg is beautiful and also nearby - take a tour or just walk around the expansive grounds and pet the goats.
The drive into Hendersonville takes about fifteen minutes. There are lots of great antique stores, a rock museum, restaurants, bars and cafes.
Flat Rock is a sweet little sleepy town just across 1-26, about ten minutes away. Asheville is about 40 minutes up the road. There are lots of options for all kinds of things to do - breweries, chocolate shops, tons of restaurants and shops. We love stopping in to see the folks at East Fork Pottery and then grabbing a bite just down the street at the Indian Buffet, Mela. There’s a great bookstore across the street. Other restaurants we recommend are Gan Shan Station and All Souls Pizza.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is minutes away and your route to motorcycle touring, biking, hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, zip lining, Segway tour…just about any outdoor activity. You can also decide to take a quick ride into downtown Hendersonville, or up to Asheville to enjoy incredible restaurants, shopping, galleries, spas and entertainment.
