Charming Cottage in Paris, AR .... Convenient "In Town" location!

Sleeps6
Bedrooms 2
Bathrooms1
Space 950 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

Overview

About the property

Paris is home of Mt. Magazine, the tallest point in Arkansas.

Our cottage is reminiscent of "Grandma's House" and you'll love the convenience of being in town, yet still in a private setting. There's so many great things to do in this area ! You will definitely want to take in the sights at Mt. Magazine, which is just 19 miles away and Mt. Nebo, which is 35 miles away. If you'd like to try your hand at some fishing, or perhaps want to go for a swim, you can enjoy 160-acre scenic 'Cove Lake' which is just 9 miles from Paris.

Perhaps you'll want to visit 5 of Arkansas local wineries which are within 30 minutes of the cottage (including Cowie Wine Cellars and Vineyard, right here in Paris). There are also a lot of 'antique/resale' shops within a 30 - 45 minute drive of the cottage !

This is a great lay-over spot for those traveling up to Eureka Springs (98 miles away) or Branson, MO (137 miles away). You can also enjoy all that Fort Smith has to offer ~ From Museums to 'Cherokee Casino' which is just across the Oklahoma border, only 8 mi. from Ft. Smith. It's 41 miles from the Cottage to Fort Smith !

Of course you'll want to 'relax' as well ! Our kitchen is stocked with all the items you need to cook up a great meal, or you may want to use our BBQ pit and have a cookout, then enjoy it under the gazebo : ) The bathroom is small, but 'cozy' and you'll enjoy relaxing in the antique claw-foot tub (with shower)

No matter what time of year you come, there's always something to do in the area. Even in the winter ! Paris is on the 'Arkansas Trail of Holiday Lights' and our community turns its downtown square into a winter wonderland each Christmas season. Postcards could be made from the beauty 'fall foliage' in our area.

Mt. Magazine (Tallest point in Arkansas) - 19 beautiful miles to the top from our cottage. Be sure to take in a 'sunset' dinner there !

Whether you just want to get away for a few days to 'unwind', or looking for a quaint place to stay for your Anniversary, our 'cottage' is sure to be a welcome retreat for you ! Come experience the Arkansas River Valley with us and create new memories !

There may be a few rentals available for a slightly 'lower' cost. However, we are in a very 'convenient' location ! You are also getting the use of the entire home. Even though it is 'in town', it is in a relatively 'private', quiet setting. If you consider the cost of 'gas' to stay in a location further out, we believe our cottage is actually one of the best deals in this area and comparable to the cost of hotels. And you can have 'peace of mind' .. We are located within blocks of the police, fire station and hospital !

CV's family grocery, Walmart & Dollar Tree are in town. Washer & Dryer are located in the Kitchen Area. Ladies: Please bring your own washcloth or makeup removal pads for makeup removal. Cleaning fee does not include dishes ~ Please wash and put away the dishes and cooking utensils as they are used. Please do NOT make up the beds prior to leaving... Thanks :)

Pets will only be considered on 'monthly' rentals.

*** (Additional Notes: Our home has 1 Queen Bed & 2 Twin Beds. The base rate is for the use of ONE bedroom only. We do offer a Queen air mattress, if needed, which would accommodate 2 additional people. Remember, the bathroom is 'small', so if more than 4 guests stay, you will probably need to allow for re-heating of water in the water heater.

Enjoy Your Stay !

Why P.J. Price chose Paris

I started looking for a vacation rental approx. 2 years ago. I fell in love with Arkansas after visiting Eureka Springs. Over the past 2 years I came to Arkansas approx. 4 times a year, so it just 'made sense' to buy a vacation home here and to 'share' it with others on the vacation sites when I'm not using it. This home immediately grabbed my attention. It has a good 'vibe'. It's warm & inviting. I can almost see a "grandma" figure standing in the kitchen with a couple of kiddos, baking cookies ! I've traveled extensively throughout Arkansas but this one immediately grabbed my attention. I hope to purchase at least 2 more in the near future :) I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do !

What makes this cottage unique

Convenient "In Town" Location

Located between Ft. Smith & Russellville ~ lots of 'attractions' & things to do

Next door to the 'historical' jail, where the last 'hanging' took place in AR !

Home of "Mt. Magazine" with lots of hiking trails and SkyCrest restaurant at top in the Lodge (Be sure to take in the sunset views)

Amazing! Relaxing! Just what we needed!!!

  • 5 of 5

I have nothing but RAVE reviews for this little gem! My family of 4 plus my mom stayed over the 4th of July weekend. My mom is from neighboring Clarksville, AR and we stayed here and explored the area. Paris is SUCH a lovely little town. You can walk to the downtown area from this little cottage. The porch is adorable and cozy and the cottage itself is like a home away from home. We cooked and played games and watched TV and shared lots of good memories here. It was nice to have a cozy place after exploring Mt Magazine all day one day (GORGEOUS AREA). The owner stayed in contact anytime I needed her and was beyond helpful. If we ever make it back to the area, I won't even hesitate to book again!

Owner's Response: Thank you SO much! We enjoyed having you and hearing about the things you got to do while you were here. I love the pictures that you sent. You have a beautiful family and we would gladly welcome you back any time. If you didn't get a chance, you can explore Mt. Nebo (Dardanelle) next time as well. Great place to go with a picnic lunch and enjoy some hiking. If you can catch it at the right time after a good rain, you can enjoy the waterfall as well. Thanks for choosing us and we appreciate your review very much :)

Loved it so much that I bought it :)

  • 5 of 5

I'm not sure why I keep getting requests to rate my 'stay' here, since I own it now ! LOL.. But I'll simply state this to future guests. I searched 2 years for a 'vacation rental cottage' in various areas throughout Arkansas. I came to this cottage to stay when the previous owner had it so I could get the 'feel' of it, as I was considering purchasing it. I loved it so much that I did buy it and I'm so happy to now offer the opportunity to other 'travelers' to come and enjoy my little 'home away from home'. This house is in town, yet in a relatively quiet location. You can literally walk to the square or to a couple of the local restaurants to eat, yet come home and not even realize you are 'that close' to the downtown area ! The house is 'warm'. That's what sold me. It just has a warm feeling to it.. very peaceful and relaxing... and 'safe'. I love the fact that there are so many things to do within a 1 hour drive from here. Hiking, Fishing, Wine Trail, Antique Shopping, ATV, etc. There's literally 'something for everyone' here. This is one of those places that you want to come to during the Spring months to enjoy the fishing, hiking, canoeing, etc.. and then in the fall to view the beautiful fall foliage.. So come visit and make some new memories here in Paris, Arkansas :)

Wonderful Retreat From Daily Hustle/Bustle

  • 5 of 5

It is located right around the corner of downtown Paris, AR and walking distance to restaurants and other activities. Old Jail Museum is nearby and a friendly host (Jean) will take you through the museum with charm and enthusiasms. We loved our stay at this retreat. The host (P.J.) was kind, generous and thoughtful. We are family of four and there was plenty of room for us to be all comfortable even while having guests stopping by for a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking at Mt. Magazine State Park only half hour away fro this cottage. The view from the terrace of the Lodge on top of Mt. Magazine (highest peak in Arkansas: 2,753 ft) was spectacular. Driving to and from it was beautiful as well. This location offered us many things that we didn't expect in most small towns. It has access to so many places to enjoy that are close distance from it. The Subiaco Abbey is just short distance away from this town and we enjoyed visiting this large castle like structures (thanks to a local plumber who told us to visit there: Mr. Chris Adams). The abbey and surrounding areas are beautiful places to visit. There are also good local brewery and winery to visit.

We happened to stay at this cottage by sheer chance. We evacuated out from southern Florida during the Hurricane Irma and drove all the way out to west Arkansas for a reason. The host graciously accepted our last minute reservation request and helped us out so much from a distance while being so responsive to our communication. This cottage and its host provided much needed 'safe' place for myself and my family during otherwise a stressful time. We almost forgot that we were evacuees from a natural disaster.

Thank you!

Owner's Response: Your family was a 'blessing' to get to know and we would certainly welcome You back again, but hopefully under better circumstances. I hope the Hurricanes keep themselves away from Florida AND Texas for a long, long time ~! I'm so glad that you ended up at our cottage in Paris, AR. I also thank you for helping with the water faucet 'leak' situation. You were a gracious 'guest' to take the initiative to run the water hose down the hill toward the creek until the plumber could come. I really appreciated your help with. I wish I had more guests like you ! You left the cottage so clean that when I arrived, it already look as though it had been cleaned except the linens : ) Wishing you and your family all the best and again, we'd love to have you back anytime ! Thank You !
