About the property

Modern, bright & open, 1 BR w/ large sleeping loft, convenient to downtown AVL

Bright, open town-home designed by local architect/owner. This is the largest unit of a triplex home; this unit is located on the top 2 levels of the structure, and a smaller, 1 bedroom unit is on the lower levels of the structure. (VRBO #438576)

The design concept of this unit is to create an open, loft-style feel with visual connection between the spaces - both horizontal and vertical, while also creating comfortable 'nooks' that are scaled to create spaces to enjoy talking, reading, working, cooking and other activities - all with ample natural light. This property features a open living and kitchen space which is oriented toward views of the mountains. The main level consists of an entry-hall which leads to a two story window-wall flanked by the living room and kitchen.

This town-home is perfect for a couple or small family and has a 1 bedroom on the main level with a Queen bed, and a large sleeping loft with a King bed, and 1.5 baths. Larger parties or couples traveling together would have to share the larger bathroom on the second level.

Main Hall: The main level is organized via a central hall in which all of the spaces are connected. This hall is centered on a two-story window-wall facing the mountain views. Near the entrance is a 1/2 bath as well as the stairs leading up to the loft.

Living Room: There are two couches in the living room - a comfortable leather couch, along with a suede couch with a chaise. There is also a leather reclining chair. We've provided a 60" TV with cable. The room has a sliding glass door that opens onto the deck facing the view.

Library/Study: Directly off of the main hall and open to the living room is a cozy library with an L-shaped built-in desk and cabinets.

Kitchen: The Kitchen features a long bar with a granite top and four bar stools. The Kitchen is a galley design and is equipped with counter top oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, cookware and serving ware. At one end of the kitchen is a sliding glass door opening onto the deck. NO OVEN available.

Deck: Facing the views is a high deck that spans the length of the house. There are two awnings covering the ends of the deck with reclining chairs and tables.

Dining Room: Located directly off of the Kitchen and Main Hall is the Dining Room that has a 'high top' table and enough seating for 6.

Bedroom: Near the entry and off the Main Hall is a small, cozy bedroom with a queen size bed, ample closet, side table and dresser.

Upstairs Loft: This too is an open space with sloping walls on two sides and two small 'atriums' - one open to the entry below and the other open toward the views and the Living and Kitchen below. The loft contains the king bed with a side table, two closets, leather chair and dresser. There are two cozy, skylit nooks to the side of the main atrium - one can be used for a yoga/meditation space, and the other contains a leather couch and a TV.

Bathroom: Within the upstairs loft is a tiled bathroom that features a nice whirl-pool tub, two pedestal sinks, and a shower.

Laundry: A small laundry room is located just off the stair in the loft and are available for your use.

Very comfortable and clean, great location with beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this home. Spacious and well appointed, immaculately kept, you are no more than 10-15 minutes at most from anything you would want to do in Asheville. Sherry was a very communicative and helpful host. I highly recommend this property!

Asheville is known for it's wonderful architecture, art galleries, great restaurants and hip shops. This eclectic city in the mountains is a perfect place to explore and to make as a home base while venturing the mountains of Western North Carolina. The city offers a variety of 'urban' activities while one can spend a lifetime exploring the Southern Appalachians. The highest peak, Mount Mitchell is less than an hours drive via the Blue Ridge Parkway. These lush mountains have attracted visitors for years including George Vanderbilt who set out to build his 'dream house', The Biltmore, which is a must see for any first-time visitor to the area. One can spend days shopping downtown and eating at some of the best restaurants in the region which offer a wide variety of ethnic tastes. The many craft breweries have touted Asheville as 'Beer City' the past few years, and the art scene is nationally known. Asheville will indeed make a lasting impression.
