Clean, Cozy and Charming Cottage on Black Lake
My daughter & I loved our time staying in this cozy, charming cottage. I loved the sunroom with the view of the lake. We enjoyed amazing sunsets . The use of kayaks topped it off. It was a very doable distance for our day trip to Mackinac Island, which was amazing! We enjoyed both exploring the area as well as hanging out & enjoying the cottage and Black Lake.
Relaxing,quiet and beautiful
My wife and I recently stayed here for 4 nights. The cottage had everything that we needed. The views of the lake are amazing and the water is so clear you could see the bottom while we were out kayaking. This location is the perfect distance from many different attractions. We went to Petoskey and Charlevoix for a day, which was beautiful. We went to oqueoc falls which was great. The best part of the trip was just sitting back and relaxing and listening to the waves at night while going to sleep. We will deffinetly go back.
When we first walked into this cabin during our July 2018 stay, we were pleasantly surprised to find that most of the pictures online were outdated and didn't give justice to the real thing. The kitchen must have recently been painted white, pictures show yellow. There is a flat screen TV in the living room, equipped with a DVD player, the pictures show a 9x9 black and white mini TV. There is a full pull out couch in the living room, which ended up being where our 3 year old camped out, the pictures show a log furniture couch with a cast iron wood stove next to it, there is actually a new furnace. There are no pictures of the screened in back porch, which also feature 2 additional couches, one being a futon. This was where we watched majority of the sunsets so the bugs couldn't reach us. This cabin is Cozy just as described, it had everything we needed to cook meals inside, however there are no sheets, no pillowcases, no blankets so that was a lot of extra spaced taken up in the car for us and I would prefer to stay somewhere that provides linens for that reason. When traveling with kids our space is dedicated to strollers, wagons, beach toys, and other misc. necessities. Also there is no washer or dryer, and no description online that states the cabin next door is owned by the same people, so there is "shared dock, shared clothes line, shared charcoal grill, shared hot water tank" you only find that out once you get inside and read the cabin rules . The clothes line was not shared, the other guests had arrived before us and it was on "their" property, so we were not going to walk over there and hang our towels. The Charcoal grill was also already taken over, and we were unable to "share" meals with it. There were water pressure issues as well, we couldn't just take a hot shower, without it cutting in and out depending what the neighbors were doing at the time. We made it work with what we had, but the descriptions are deceiving, so that is why I give it 3 stars.
