Our little Studio is the most romantic of our spaces. The room has a very comfy organic latex Queen bed with futon underneath. There is a claw-foot bathtub out in the room that has a wand but no shower. There is a dining area with dishes and cutlery. A small refrigerator and French Press. Guests love to bring picnic food and enjoy looking out the wall of sliding glass doors towards the terrace garden and hillside views. The studio is very private. You can take a bath while looking out the doors or enjoy the faux wood stove in the winter months. There is no cooking in the studio. No kitchen or toaster. A kettle will warm up water for your tea or coffee. Enjoy a unique European feeling to this airy room. The walls are filled with Carol's art. Monarch butterfly metamorphosis and photographs of Venice or bright colored paintings. CHECK-IN 4 PM OR BY APPOINTMENT CHECK-OUT 11 AM

I look forward to welcoming you to our rustic Flower Hill Farm Retreat! My life here is a work-in-progress and both the magical overgrown gardens and restored 1790 farmhouse offer charm and continued challenges. If you have nature deficit disorder, this is the place for you. On my website I have documented with photographs and listed by families over 50 species of butterflies and 70 plus bird species living or migrating thru our farm. There are enchanting encounters with mammals too. I am working on a book I call 'A Bestiary ~ Tales from a Wildlife Garden.' I am an artist and farmer, who has given much of the last thirty years to caring for my twenty-one acre hillside in Western Massachusetts. My greatest joy in working with the land has been to see how my farm has become home to a diverse community of wildlife. Through painting, photography and writing, I try to capture the essence of what it is to be closely connected to nature. To cultivating that connection within the rich loam of this Western Massachusetts hillside and my mind. On my blog Flower Hill Farm, I share the beauty of the wildlife surrounding my old farmhouse. In this way, I try to convey that with careful consideration of conservation and only using organic practices, while being a steward to the land, one can create a true sanctuary for native flora and fauna. And while living in this manner we can create a lush, green, and nourishing retreat for ourselves.
Carol purchased this Studio in 1990
Why Carol chose Williamsburg
I fell in love with the land and charm of the old farmhouse. The Pioneer Valley community offers great diversity in culture and beauty.

Magical, quiet and immaculate
Though small, the studio has everything in proportion making it feel cozy, (as in hygge) but not cramped. We were two people, plus one small dog.
For us, a magical place. Flowers and flowering trees and bushes were our view, attracting all kinds of birds, butterflies, and even a fawn just outside our floor to ceiling windows.
Soft breezes and sweet scents. Truly a blissfully quiet sanctuary. Also, perfectly convenient for our hill town house hunting. Loved the claw foot tub!
Our host could not have been more gracious. Thanks for a wonderful stay! We will be back soon.

Great stay and would come again. :)
Great quiet place to rest and rejuvenate. The studio was perfect. Carol was very accommodating and helpful in places to go to in the area.
Here in the foothills of the Berkshires, we are part of the Pioneer Valley with five colleges and countless cultural happenings. Nature surrounds the Retreat and over 50 species of Butterflies and 70 species of Birds have been sighted and documented by families on my website. Facing east we enjoy sun and moon rises that add magic to the gardens. Guests enjoy sipping coffee in their spaces while watching these orbs light up the day and night.
