This single family home is in a residential neighborhood with a "secret" park and playground! "Varsity Park" is a wonderful neighborhood in Mountain View on the Los Altos border, walking distance from both downtown Mountain View and downtown Los Altos (1.5 miles either way). It is also just a walk or bike ride away from the larger and busier Cuesta Park, YMCA, El Camino Hospital, and multiple school grounds and playing fields.
This home is flexible can very comfortably accommodate one large family, two families sharing, or 2-3 colleagues sharing a stay.
The home is clean, bright, and tastefully decorated with nice linens and towels. It has a 55" Samsung TV, with your own DISH Network DVR (internet-connected with Netflix/Hulu apps to use your accounts, etc) and a Blu-Ray DVD player, to enjoy from the plush feather down sectional we got from Crate & Barrel. The master bedroom also has its own 42" TV and DISH Network. Another bedroom and the kitchen also have flat screen TVs with DISH.
The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils, has tons of storage too, and a butcher block island. The stove is electric with a flat ceramic top, and a stainless steel fridge and new KitchenAid dishwasher. There are spices, teas, and lots of options for making your favorite coffee (Keurig, regular brew, French press, espresso/cappucino maker, and an electric hot kettle!).
Behind a privacy door, is a dedicated office nook with built-in storage/desk and direct Cat5 wiring to the internet router. There is a door directly to the outside from the office nook, and window for natural light.
The entire home has dedicated wifi too, of course! We splurged on the "boost" plan for your faster speeds. Cause we're good like that.
-The master bedroom has a brand new (6/2017) California King bed that includes LATEX foam inside (in case of allergy). It's on the firm side. This bedroom has a TV.
-One small bedroom contains a full-sized bed that can sleep 1-2, and has a TV with DISH too.
-The other small bedroom faces the front of the home and has a twin bed plus a twin trundle (trundle is a latex mattress) that rolls out, thus sleeping 1-2. No TV in this bedroom.
-So, the home can sleep up to 6 total with all beds fully occupied. It would be most comfortable for families of 4, or groups of 3 colleagues, for longer terms.
There are two full bathrooms - one with a soaking tub in the main hallway, and another full bathroom tucked privately behind the kitchen with a "small" shower measuring 24"x36." Note all 3 bedrooms share the 2 full baths - there is not a bathroom "inside" of the master bedroom. Enjoy the assortment of bubble baths we have provided for your soaking tub.
Floor to ceiling windows along the back of the house bring nature in, enjoy our mature plantings and the hummingbirds drinking honeysuckle nectar from our vines.
The driveway has a full wooden gate on wheels, and the property is fully fenced, for safe play for little ones. The driveway is also painted and clean, and my own kids loved biking and skating on it, as well as chalk art. We have installed artificial turf in front and mulch in back to keep water usage down.
Owner pays utilities and water/trash/sewer/weekly gardener (usually Thursdays). There is a refundable $200 utilities deposit, in case of extraordinary electric or gas costs during your stay - if this happens we will ask for more deposit and reimbursement of the extra utility costs from your utilities deposit. In addition, we require the $99 protection plan for up to $5000 in breakage coverage.
There is a shed in backyard that is locked and not part of rental.
A full sized washer and dryer are in the garage for your use. There's also a full sized extra fridge/freezer in the garage for your Costco runs!
Other amenities include outdoor furniture (couches and dining furniture), a Weber propane grill and an outdoor shed to store your toys. We also have fruit trees for fresh produce: abundant avocados, Meyer and Eureka lemons, Bearss and Palestinian limes, Satsuma tangerines, Robertson and blood oranges, figs and Hachiya persimmon! Of course, there is a fruit picking pole for you to use.
This home has central air conditioning for any hot summer days, which are not that many because of our solar attic fans.
This is one of those neighborhoods where you can take a leisurely walk in the gloaming with your hot mug or tasty cold beverage, and breathe in the sweet air from jasmine blooming. Neighbors are friendly. Folks pass by on their way to and from Varsity Park. A very short walk away is a neighborhood shopping corner with a bagel shop (best bagels in Mtn View/Los Altos!), grocery store, bank, pharmacy, nail salon, pearl tea salon, Starbucks, Subway, Chinese food, yoga studio, martial arts studio, dry cleaner etc...
This home is managed by owner, but the owner happens to be a professional property manager. You can expect top-notch service and responsiveness.
NO PETS AND NO SMOKING - NO EXCEPTIONS - ALLERGY FRIENDLY HOME EXCEPT IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO LATEX MATTRESSES (which are in dust mite impervious covers if it makes a difference). We are allergy avoiders and have all the mattresses bagged in dust mite covers plus waterproof mattress covers, and keep our HVAC filters very clean.
We do not usually book in advance except for extraordinarily long upcoming stays -- we normally book our next guests when the home opens up again for rental -- in other words, we won't block off a stay happening weeks or months after our next available opening because we prefer to take the next person who wants to escape their hotel room for a real house and stay for a while! People typically stay several weeks to months.
This home is in the Los Altos School District (Springer, Black, MV High), a just short walk to St. Francis private school. We are a straight drive or bike ride down Miramonte/Shoreline to Google. It's about 1.75 miles to the Caltrain station, an easy bike ride. We are about equal distance between Hwy 101 and Hwy 237 (to the east) and both Foothill Expwy and Hwy 280 (to the west).
