Great little cabin....very clean....lots of water "toys". The shower could use updating but it gets the job done. Satellite TV would be nice as well as air conditioning.
Location is great, steps from Lake.
Enjoyed the fire pit, & the sunsets when not raining.
Screened porch is very nice and perfect spot to read during rain.
Cabin is old but well appointed and clean.
Not a fan of the small bathroom & shower though.
Thought price was a little much
Feel the echos of a simpler time.....
After looking online at lots of cottages to rent for our honeymoon, we immediately knew this was the place to make special memories. The pictures reminded us of our childhood summers at other Michigan lakes. What a special place. We had perfect weather to enjoy the convenience of hopping on our fishing boat, which fit nicely in the hoist, and caught several sizable small mouth bass, walleye, perch, pumpkin seed and sunfish right out front! Sunsets were spectacular while we sat back in the Adirondack chairs around a campfire. We set up our bag hammock under the trees and enjoyed an afternoon nap while the crickets and lapping waves serenaded us to sleep. The cabin was clean and well-equipped. Plenty of dishes, glasses, pots & pans, cooking and eating utensils, coffee pot, hand mixer, blender, toaster, aluminum foil, Saran Wrap, garbage bags, dish soap, paper plates & napkins. Bring your own dish towels, bath towels, toiletries and bed linens. Pillows are provided. The lake bottom is nice and sandy and water is shallow quite a ways out, making this an ideal place for families with children. Lots of beach toys are stored under the seat bench on the front porch, as well as books and board games.
We can’t think of a better place to celebrate our marriage and kick off the beginning of our lives together. Thank you for sharing this jewel.
After reading this review to my husband, he told me it sounds like I’m trying to sell the place.... actually, we’d love to buy it!! 😁
cute & quaint
We enjoyed our stay here. This cabin was very clean and the view through the large sliding glass door out through the porch was amazing! It offered everything we needed for a few days of R&R. We kayaked and loved the fire pit.
Relaxing Up-North getaway
Cute older cabin that has been well maintained and is very clean. This is a non-updated cabin, but it adds to the charm. Black Lake is a clean and shallow lake- great for families with small children. There are 2 kayaks and other non-motorized boats for use. We ran into some cooler July weather so we couldn't enjoy the lake as much as we would have liked. We had AMAZING meals while we were there: The Bluffs had great food and live music. Up North 23 in Roger's City has local fare, and outdoor dining overlooking Lake Huron. 211 had amazing pizza - we just stopped in after a long day after Mackinac to get some food not expecting much- really nice people and great drinks and food. Coffee on the porch in the morning A+. Ocqueoc Falls - basically a great picnic place- then bring water shoes and it's super fun walking in the river on the rocks or swimming in the little waterfall swimming area. A very much appreciated unplugged long weekend up north. Note: GPS does not get you directly to the cabin, but you'll find it!
