Perfect for family reunion
We had a group of 4 families with little ones and this was the perfect spot. Gorgeous views for days! Definitely listen to everyone else tho and don’t even bother driving up in winter without 4WD. One of us had all wheel drive and almost had a hard time getting out following an unexpected snowstorm! Amazing communication with the owners and their house managers and we loved every moment.
It is true that anywhere in the mountains of Vermont you would need 4WD after a big snow storm until the roads are cleared. The main roads and the roads in Hawk resort are cleared in a timely manner and are passable without 4WD. However, as we state in our documentation, rear wheel drive is not recommended.
House was stunning!
We had a fantastic time with 11 of our friends. Very clean and comfortable and large enough to accommodate everyone. Loads of cooking supplies and enough dinnerware for all. Didn't need to go out for anything.
Would definitely rent again!!

A very unique home.
This house is an amazing place for a large group. Very unique. The most amazing views!
Nice house for a group
Our group of 13 adults (parents and recent college grads) used this spacious house as home base for several days of skiing at Okemo and Killington. The property is built into the mountainside and offers outstanding views. There are four levels; the bedrooms are located on the lower two floors. The lowest floor also offers a second living room with sliders opening onto a deck with hot tub. The well-appointed kitchen is spacious and open which made it easy for everyone to help with meal prep. The fireplace in the great room was lovely, and the large slate-floored entry area was tailor-made for skiers with lots of hooks, benches and shelves for gear. The caretakers were super responsive and keep the firewood stocked and the hot tub sparkling. Bob, the owner, was also great to work with!
It was snowing when we arrived. Winter renters should take the warning about all-wheel drive seriously. The access road is long, steep and winding. One of our cars had front wheel drive and required a push to get from the road into the parking area. Our only other suggestion is that it may be time to replace some of the pillows/mattresses; many of our crew found the beds to be only moderately comfortable (younger children may not have had an issue). Extra blankets would have been helpful (although the high on the first day we arrived was -7 degrees, so probably not typical). The caretakers promptly brought some over when we called. All in all a really nice house for a group. With the multiple decks and fantastic views, this house would be a great choice for summer and fall renters too.
There were extra blankets in the closets. We have replaced some of the mattresses and pillows.
House was a great fit for our family get together.
Overall great house! The spacious, open kitchen was the best! Perfect house for our family Thanksgiving, which we'll have happy memories of. Fireplace was ideal!
Beautiful mountain home.
We had a nice stay in Vermont last weekend (early August). With a big extended family, there was plenty of space to spread out. One family unit with 4 kids took the bottom floor. It's a bit of a chore to haul big suitcases up those steep staircases.
We did some cooking in the kitchen, which had everything utensil-wise, but no oil, spices, coffee, etc... Would have been nice to know to bring the keurig coffee pods with us.
We enjoyed the views from the deck, and hiking around on Hawk Mountain.
FYI, the restaurant at Hawk Mountain was only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday, and we didn't try it.
Location
Located in Plymouth, VT in the 1200 acre Hawk Resort. Ten minutes from the town of Ludlow, 8 minutes from the Jackson Gore base area of Okemo Mountain, a top rated family ski area, and 15 minutes from the Killington Skyeship. Enjoy year round activities including hiking, biking, water activities at the nearby lakes, golf, tennis, and fall foliage. In addition, take advantage of the many amenities of the Hawk Resort including indoor/outdoor pools, cross country and snowshoe trails, and restaurant (weekends during ski season only) There are several good restaurants in the area. For a more upscale experience you might want to try Harry's, near the intersection of rt. 100 and rt. 103, or the the Coleman Brook Tavern at Jackson Gore. In the town of Ludlow, DJs has a great burger and dinner specials, Tom's Loft near the entrance to the Okemo clock tower base area has good BBQ, wings, and burgers, and Sam's Steak House has a good salad bar, dinner specials, and comfort foods. There is also an Irish pub, Killarney's in Ludlow. Our favorite pizza in Ludlow is American Pie, located across from the Shaw's supermarket; Village Pizza is also good. Going in the other direction, toward Killington, is the Back Behind Restaurant at the intersection of rt. 100 and rt. 4. They have a reasonably priced bar menu, good BBQ, and a nice dinner menu. The Long Trail Brewery is at the intersection of rt. 100a and rt. 4 in Bridgewater Corners (they close early - 7:00 p.m.). There are also great deli sandwiches in Bridgewater Corners at the Bridgewater Country Store; Singleton's Store in Cavendish also has a good variety of sandwiches, snacks, and grocery items.
