Charming old adobe in the Village of Los Ranchos in Albuquerque’s North Valley on five acres of farmland with direct access to endless hiking/jogging/biking trails along the tree-filled bosque of the Rio Grande and easy drives to the Sandia Mountain Wilderness and to Old Town area of Albuquerque. It's an hour drive to the Santa Fe Plaza, or take the RailRunner train from the Los Ranchos station less than 2 miles from the house.
The walls of the present kitchen and dining room constituted one of the original houses on what is now Rio Grande Blvd. The present house has a layout typical of old New Mexico, where one room was added at a time. It is 1300 square feet, was completely renovated in 2004, and is fully furnished.
The semi-rural character and privacy make this an ideal and relaxing rental spot for anyone wanting to vacation in the Albuquerque area or for persons needing temporary furnished housing for work or study, visit to family, or getting ready for a move to the area.
There is one small bedroom (queen bed) with a generous adjacent sitting room with cable HD TV, DVD player with extensive video and reading libraries. The large living room has beamed ceiling, gas fireplace.
The dining area is a direct extension off the kitchen and has its own woodburning kiva fireplace with a unique copper mantel. There's a separate office with broadband internet connection and WiFi.
A bricked patio with a huge cottonwood, fruit trees, lawns, gardens, and 2 eating areas are enclosed with adobe walls. Great sunsets spread across 3-acre alfalfa field which is on this property to the west.

We are a semi-retired physician/faculty at the University of NM and wife who has been a weaver and champion of the fiber arts. We have lived and raised our family here for 46 years on 2-acres including pasture with sheep and goats immediately next door to this adobe rental. As owners, we directly manage the rental property.

This is one of the original adobe houses built after the levees were constructed and controlled flooding along the Rio Grande in the 1930s. The five acres survives a special rural oasis in an area that has recently become more developed with residential homes. It has been important to us to preserve this property and this special house.
Access directly off the property to endless hiking/jogging/biking trails along the tree-filled bosque of the Rio Grande; easy 10 mile drive to trailheads in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness.
Located in the North Valley, the property is just three miles to Balloon Fiesta Park, an easy five and a half miles directly to Albuquerque's Old Town and museums, six miles to Biopark and zoo, ten miles to the University area and Nob Hill. The Los Ranchos Saturday farmers' market is only a mile away. Nearby bridges provide ready access to the west side of the river and Rio Rancho. Interstates running north/south (I-25) and east/west (I-40) are easily reached, making this an excellent jumping off point for exploring the entire state.
Bill and his charming adobe were AMAZING! He was very thorough in walking us through the house to orient us. He was so incredibly hospitable. The kitchen was the best outfitted kitchen I have ever been in and made cooking at the house easy and fun!
The casita was so close to the beautiful and peaceful Bosque (a five minute walk ).
Plus, our two small kids LOVED meeting the goats and sheep.

This beautiful hacienda home is located in the peaceful area of Rancho de Albuquerque. It is minutes from easy long walks on the canals. The bike path is down the block. Bill even provided me a bike. The property is in the middle of horse estates. I had a horseback riding lesson across the street. The home is decorated in charming southwest style. Bill responded immediately to helping with whatever i needed for the house. For a relaxed and peaceful fireside evening or an adventure to Old Town or Santa Fe this is the ideal location.

My husband and I had a delightful 5 day August 2016 stay at the North Valley home of Bill Wiese's vacation home. The home is located in a quiet rural section of town. We enjoyed multiple factors of the stay including completely furnished kitchen, courtyard patio time for breakfast & supper, detailed instructions in Guest Book, nearby restaurant listings, 20 minutes to downtown, extremely well equipped library, and walking on the Rio Grande State Park. Do not miss the downtown ART Museum, the Balloon Museum, Old Town, and some wineries.The home and courtyard were very spacious. The photos on the vrbo.com website were realistic.
Bill was a gracious host providing brochures of activities which you could then further investigate on the wide fi connection. He met us shortly after arriving and explained the home features. He was prompt on responding to email messages. We would recommend the home to friends and will be back again in the fall.
My husband and I stayed for the entire month of March 2016. The location was great -- minutes to the amenities of ABQ, but in an area with small farms and ranches, giving the feel of a rural environment. We are avid cyclists and the house was convenient to a trailhead of the Paseo del Bosque trail, which stretches for miles along the Rio Grande. The house was exceptionally well equiped, with everything we needed for an extended stay. The house was a good size for the two of us. We were also were able to host my sister and her husband for a few days. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the patio with the spring flowers in the garden and the blossoming trees. On cool nights it was nice to sit by the fireplace in the large, well-furnished living room. Bill and Janislee were the perfect hosts, attentive to our questions, but giving us privacy. We have put this house on our "favorites" list and plan to return in the future.
Fantastic! We've never felt so relaxed or so at home. Bill and Janislee have created a lovely space in a wonderful setting. We were close and connected to ABQ. while having the feeling of being out in the country. Well equipped, tastefully decorated, wonderfully situated, with the feeling the owners are near enough to help but far enough to give you a sense of total privacy. Perfect for the two of us and great for hosting our daughter and son-in-law and our darling granddaughter. It may be presumptious, but we now think of this awesome pueblo style dwelling as our "second home" in ABQ. Well done, Bill and Janislee!

Minimum stay is 4 nights. Standard rental rate is @ $110/night during first week ($770 for full week); then @ $70/night during second week (or $1,260 for 2-week stay); then @ $60/night until the monthly rate of $1,860 is reached; then @ $62/night beyond the initial month. Rental rate includes taxes and utilities.
Payments are either collected through HomeAway (or VRBO) website or made directly with the owner in US dollars by check, cash, or PayPal. Credit cards are not accepted for payments directly to owner.
Rental agreement includes provision that renter is responsible for paying for damages beyond normal wear.
