Listen to the quiet…
Do this for yourself. Our year-round private retreat has magnificent 180-degree views. Three sides of the large windows and deck are west and south-facing, overlooking sunsets, the ocean and miles of forest.
The cabin is a cozy and contemporary 900 sq ft 1 bedroom, 1 bath home as a pristine getaway. It is located 500 feet above the valley, with southern exposure. Three sides of windows and decks show off a view from many vantage points. It is likely the most elegant “tree house” you have ever seen. SUNSET MAGAZINE featured it as one of 3 BEST PLACES ON THE OREGON COAST in the "Call of the Oregon Coast" issue of September 2012.
The cabin is sited to take advantage of the incredible views and feeling of peace. In the Spring and Fall deer and elk are often wandering the property (during the early morning or evening hours.) The deep bathtub has a skylight to see the stars, and two large windows with a forest view. Total relaxation... The cabin was custom designed so that every room has a full view of this stunning part of the Oregon coast.
Just a 5-minute drive to the village of Neskowin, you’ll be far from the beach shops and boardwalks of larger beach towns. In Neskowin you will find one golf course, one grocery store, one art gallery and one wonderful café – the only commercial businesses. Enjoy 7 miles of gorgeous beach walking, evening bonfires, surfing, skim boarding and tide pool exploring. Pacific City is ten miles north where there are numerous fun shops, galleries, restaurants, a surf shop, another wide and walkable beach, plus the tide pools and hiking of unique Cape Kiwanda.
One large bedroom with a wonderful ocean view, Queen Temperpedic-style mattress, a tub with hand-held shower head with forest views. The TV (with many DVDs to choose from) is set up to watch cozily from the bed. THE BEDROOM AND BATH ARE ON THE SECOND FLOOR. Contemporary minimal style, large windows on three sides of the cabin, full kitchen, deck.... Check the reviews! Our guests love this cabin. There is also a small office where you can write or read.
The modern kitchen has brand new stainless appliances, views as you cook, and lots of dishes, pots/pans, and an electric coffee maker. (Please note that there is no microwave. And we do not have WiFi in the cabin, although the 3G connection is excellent. Wifi is easily accessible at the store or café in Neskowin.)
The cabin sits high above a large, forested valley, with just a few other homes It is just one mile north of the lovely, small beach village of Neskowin, along the north/central Oregon Coast, a 2-hour drive from Portland. There are only a handful of residents in this area, and it is one mile from HWY 101, and another one mile to the village of Neskowin.
Sunset Magazine recommended our cabin as one of three best places to stay along the gorgeous Oregon Coast, in the September 2012 edition, 'The Call of the Oregon Coast.'
TWO-PERSON MAXIMUM. NO DOGS ALLOWED.
The cabin is one mile east of Hwy 101, sitting up high along a valley that has few residents. It has a one-lane gravel road that cannot be found by GPS. (I have explicit directions, of course!) If this sounds appealing to you, it is honestly just fantastic. It is two miles to the beach.
There is a TV for watching our large collection of DVD movies. The claw foot soaking tub with a side-mounted faucet has a flexible head for 'showering' while in the tub, but does NOT have a stand-up shower head or surround. We have a new electric range with oven. In addition, there is a dishwasher, electric coffee maker and toaster, plus plenty of dishes. While in the kitchen you are surrounded by views of miles of unspoiled wilderness.
The 'Green Flash' is an atmospheric phenomenon that, when the conditions are just right, you will actually see a very bright lime green flash - similar to a light bulb flash - right at the moment when the sun drops below the horizon at sunset. I have seen this only once during my many years at the coast. It was truly memorable...
Enjoy 7 miles of gorgeous beach walking, evening bonfires, surfing, skim boarding and tide pool exploring. Within a beautiful 10-mile drive is Pacific City, where there are numerous fun shops, galleries, restaurants, a surf shop, another wide and walkable beach, plus the tide pools and hiking of unique Cape Kiwanda.
This beautiful part of the north/central Oregon Coast is just a two-hour drive southwest of Portland, between Lincoln City and Pacific City, north of Cascade Head. There are many hikes, shops and restaurants within a ten mile drive - either north to Pacific City or south to Lincoln City. This is a wonderful, scenic part of the Oregon Coast, with access to incredible headland hiking and long sandy beaches. You can walk for miles.
Check out Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, a most wonderful facility located along the south side of Cascade Head. They offer a wide array of classes and workshops all summer. (about a 7- mile drive)
TO OUR WINTER GUESTS: Having lived in Neskowin for 13 years, I learned a lot about the Oregon Coast: Winter can be the best time of year for several reasons. The weather changes quickly, it can be warm and sunny one day, stormy the next. Either way is good! I have played golf in 65 degree weather on Christmas Day, or I have spent hours watching the high tides and howling wind from our warm and cozy living room. The winter coast temperatures are virtually always much warmer than inland, usually in the 50's and 60's. Fewer people, more quiet...consider.
