Not only is this six-bedroom home cozy and charming with its antique look and feel, it's also a historic landmark! The Historic Whaling Captain's Home is dog-friendly and ideal for your next big family getaway.
Situated just a short stroll to Main Street in the village of Falmouth, the house with an attached cottage (available to rent separately) is super close to restaurants, shops, and the Sea Bikeway trail where you can walk your dog among vistas of the ocean and cranberry bogs. See Martha's Vineyard from Falmouth Heights Beach or visit Museums on the Green for a history lesson to enhance your experience.
In 1861, Captain Tom Lawrence had this home built for his family. Today it's a well-maintained getaway combining the modern comforts of cable TV, WiFi, air conditioning, and a gas fireplace with Old World New England charm.
Gather outdoors and host a seafood cookout with the gas grill, then carry your conversation inside to the plentiful armchairs and cushy couches. Head up to the balcony with your best friend and catch up on old times.
Start off your mornings with the best ever coffee thanks to the available French press, espresso maker, drip coffee maker, and bean grinder stocked in the kitchen.
Up to 14 guests will be comfortable sleeping here, with accommodations including the former parlor room with a king bed and a bedroom with a queen on the lower level. Up the winding staircase are four bedrooms that among them have two king beds and three queens. TVs and attached bathrooms are included in some of the bedrooms for your comfort.
If you have small children with you, the home offers a Pack 'N Play, crib, and baby gates. The baby gates may be handy if you have a wandering dog, as we ask that you keep your dog with you when you're in the house and crated when you're away. Many cafes in the area allow dogs, including Grumpy's just down the street. Lastly, keep in mind that a pet fee applies.
Additionally, if you have more than 14 guests, ask Vacasa about renting the property's one-bedroom cottage as well.
Being so close to Main Street, this historic house is surrounded by other stately homes, centennial (or older) churches, and Old World pubs. Explore the entire area by hopping on the ferry to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket or take a road trip to Provincetown to get the lay of the land that is Cape Cod.
If you're gathering for a wedding, reunion, retirement, or just to see the people you love, you're bound to love the cut of this home's jib!
*Please note that there is an attached cottage available to rent separately, so you may see or hear other guests from time to time. Please be courteous and keep your noise levels to a minimum. Thank you!*
