This property has been sold, please book it from the current owner Wynne Eden. There is another listing on this website. We enjoyed renting this house over the years and we are happy it is being managed by a quality person such as Wynne (and his wife of course). Thank you for many wonderful years but our journey has ended. Best of luck to the new owners, this should just about wrap up the minimum characters for the property description 😀

About Gary Fritz
I am a general contractor, I built The Blue Marlin in 2007 to sell, however, the market left and I spent around 20k furnishing the house with all the finest furniture, new beds, dining room set, sheets, towels, everything one could want in a home. I do not live in this house, only use it as a rental, I have tried to make the house one that I would want to spend time in. I am 66 years old and live in Tallahassee with my three rat terriers.
Gary Fritz purchased this House in 2007
Why Gary Fritz chose Alligator Point
I have been going to this area of the gulf coast since I was a child. The area has changed little, there never has been any real development and when I bought the lot the Blue Marlin is on, I decided to build this house to this floor plan based on everything I have learned as a builder in the past thirty years.I have put all first class components in the house in hopes to sell it and now I am happy it didn't sell, as I enjoy renting it. Everyone has been so great in the past five years, I have met many interesting people who have rented, and have no regrets that the house didn't sell as I first intended it to. I am a firm believer in everything happens for a purpose and The Blue Marlin is an example of life not following my plan but still turning out for the best. When I first started renting the house, I didn't have any idea how it would go, but everyone has loved the house and loved staying there, I even have around seven or eight people that come every year, and it such a blessing and a pleasure to rent the house.
What makes this House unique
The Blue Marlin is first a very private and secluded house, there are things there in the surroundings that haven't changed in thosuands of years, the area has not been developed in any way, you might see five or six people on the beach during the week, maybe a few more on weekdays. The fishing is excellent on the beach, I stay one week per year with my sister and her husband and have a great time every year. There is so much wildlife, you will see deer, white squirrels, maybe a black bear, foxes, dove and quail, turkeys, thousands of sea birds, bats, wildcats, the state park one half mile from the house is five thousand acres with walkways going a long way back into the wilderness. The state park looks like Africa in many ways. There is a nice long dock with all facilities. fi you wiish to just get away from all the rat race, this is the place for you, you will feel like you have gone back in time with the silence and the waves you hear from the beds when you go to sleep. People are few on the beach and I want you to feel like this is your own house for your stay. There are no personal effects that I keep there, I only use this house for a rental. Please come and share the peace and quiet to rejuvenate yourselves from this loud and crazy world.

Wildlife lovers and beach walkers paradise!
We had an awesome time staying at Blue Marlin. The "forgotten coast" of Florida was wonderful - very quiet with lots of wildlife. We saw dolphins just a short distance off shore, pelicans, shore birds, osprey, eagles, stingrays, horseshoe crabs, blue crabs - and deer on the beach! It was an amazing place for quiet beach walks (our dog loved it, too!), beautiful sunrises, and exploring the area. I would recommend a trip to Wakulla Springs, a trip on Allegro Sailing on nearby Alligator Point, and fishing with Capt. Doug of Gulf Coast Fishing (try flounder gigging!) or with Capt. Jimmy of Backwater Guide Service - both out of Apalachicola, and a visit to nearby state parks and Apalachicola. There are lots of good restaurants around - the seafood is amazing!
The house was very nice - 4 similar sized bedrooms (comfortably sleeps 3 couples and two singles / kids), two full bathrooms, large open kitchen and dining / living area plus a large screen porch. More than eight guests would mean sleeping in common areas. The house is almost on the beach - there is one house in front but it is lower, and there is a great view still of the ocean and beach. There is a stream / canal next to the house with tons of blue crabs - great fun to catch, especially for the kids! Bald Point State Park surrounds the area making it very private and quiet. The beach is a great walking / playing beach. The water in this area is murky due to the rivers in the area so probably not a great swimming beach although we did see some people in the water. The house has a wonderful screen porch - great place to relax and enjoy the sounds of the waves and to view the gorgeous sunrises.
I would give the house 5 stars, but it needs to have a little more attention paid to fully equipping it - the kitchen is large and a great space, but it was short on some essentials like microwavable dishes, silverware, and some other things. We bought some things for it so it should be better now! The owner unfortunately had a stroke soon after we arrived so was unable to address some of those needs. We are hoping for the best for him - from previous posts he seems like a great guy.
A beautiful home with great views. Gary the owner was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. We enjoyed an awesomeness 4 generation vacation. 11 of us stayed in the home with plenty of room for everyone. We saw dolphins, stingrays, crabs, deer and the resident alligator. The sunrise is my personal favorite. We swam, fished and relaxed then relaxed some more. The screened porch was the grandkids favorite place to sleep. We will return.
Great stay at the Blue Marlin
We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Marlin. The kids and grandkids loved all the wildlife, the deer, gators, stingrays, dolphins and all the shells they could pick up. Although the water is not the best for swimming we all had a great time and would stay again. The dressers are wore out and the drawers will fall out on your feet. All in all this is a very great place to stay, no crowds to fight thru, very peaceful and quiet. A very nice house with a screened in porch. Loved the place.
Very nice and secluded!
House was nice and very secluded. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves all week.
The pictures do not do this retreat justice, the house is almost as lovely as the view. My pup and I ran on the beach every morning, in the evening friends enjoyed wine on the patio overlooking the ocean. Everything about the weekend was perfect.
We had a wonderful time at the Blue Marlin. The house is very comfortable with a very open floor plan and plenty of room for everyone. Our favorite place was the huge screened in porch. We had coffee every morning and watched the sunrise over the ocean. The owner Gary was very responsive no matter how many times I contacted him before we arrived. He even provided a contact for a fishing trip for my husband and daughter. We also went on a boat trip at nearby Wakulla Springs and had a nice dinner right on the water at Angelo & Sons Seafood Restaurant. A good time was had by all.
Deepest spring in Southeast, Wakulla Springs, is a twenty minute drive. Glass bottom boat rides and jungle rides, see gators, deer, black bear, wildcats, thousands of birds. Swimming is great, water is crystal clear, many fish. 75 year old hotel with soda fountain, feed squirrels from your hand, sandy beach at swimming area, three heights of diving towers. Many movies have been made here including all the Creature from the Black Lagoon and Airport 77, old Tarzan movies made here. History is everywhere, great restaurant serving home cooked meals.
