Overview

About the property

Family friendly suite on a nature lover's paradise

Trails, creeks, pond, campfire pit, gas grill, picnic areas, lightning bugs in season. Take advantage of horse or pony rides, fishing in the pond or rent a kayak.

This private room in our family friendly lodge/retreat includes 1 king bed, 4 single beds, roll away bed, recliner, spacious enough for additional air mattresses, private bath, refrigerator, satellite tv, access to shared kitchen, gas grill, campfire pit, trails, creeks, pond, abundant wildlife and nature on 300 acres. The property is also shared with horses, friendly dogs, and loving outdoor cats.

Guests may bring small dogs only with prior approval and a $25/pet per day fee. They must be crated if left unattended and on a leash when outdoors to avoid confusion with the horses, etc.

The lodge is accessible by a half mile gravel driveway. Please drive slowly. AWD or 4WD may be advised during winter months. We don't always have snow on the ground in winter, but it is possible.

We're very private but not remote. Only about a mile (including the driveway) off the U.S. Highway, we're only about 3 miles outside the town of Spruce Pine, NC where you'll find restaurants, coffee shops, antiques, thrift stores, groceries, gas, and medical facilities. Other area activities include gem mining, whitewater rafting, swimming, golf, and skiiing. On-site horseback riding trail rides, pony rides, and basic lessons may be booked in advance with Blue Ridge Horse Adventures.

Come stay with us and design your own vacation, whether it's peace and quiet you're looking for or adventure we've got you covered.

Clean, comfortable large space

  • 4 of 5

Friendly owner (Patsy). The room is clean and comfortable with large space. The town (Spruce Pine) itself has not many choices to eat (esp. if you are vegetarian). Overall, convenient location to Blue Ridge, and esp if you want to visit Mount Mitchell.

This is a very clean, spacious, and well-appointed property with very considerate hosts.

Most of our interaction with the owners was with Rebecca, who I believe is Patsy's daughter. She was very caring and attentive to our needs. We were unsure about arrival times as we were attending a local festival, but the communication and provision made check-in a breeze. My niece is a caffeine addict and cannot seem to prop open her eyes without a morning cup of Java, and Rebecca very kindly made sure she had all of the fixings, especially the cream. I was amazed at the size of our room and the quality of the beds. We all had very comfortable nights of sleeping. The view was gorgeous and the property is huge. The children enjoyed the riding lessons they had as they learned a lot about the horses. Rebecca is a very patient teacher. The children were also very excited when they saw a deer crossing the property. The hostess gave us a lot of information regarding how to best navigate the mountainous highways and we all left with smiles on our faces. I definitely look forward to staying here again.

Just what we had hoped

  • 5 of 5

Clean, quiet, beautiful, relaxing...our daughters loved walking/hiking around: to the horses and around the pond...and playing with all the rocks. They also enjoyed meeting the dogs/cats and great people! The stars were amazing! The fire pit was also nice. Got to see deer. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious with 1 king and 4 twins, plus private bath and refrigerator, all very clean. Beds cozy and comfy. Used the shared kitchen some, which was also clean and stocked. I really enjoyed the character of the lodge and property. And it was so great that we were able to bring our dog! Thank you!!!

Quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

My Husband and I stayed here with our dog and 9 month old daughter. The room was very spacious, the bed was cozy, and the owner was welcoming and kind. The property sits on a gorgeous, sprawling horse farm which makes it a wonderful getaway from the busyness of life. We will definitely be returning!
