An old bungalow in the heart of Austin -- blocks from the new Alamo Drafthouse Lamar, Barton Springs, and the hike and bike trail. It is a 20 minute walk to the free concerts at Auditorium Shores and just two miles to the convention center downtown. Google Fiber internet and TV!
The house is a two bedroom, one bath. It is 87 years old and features the original pecan Floors. It does feature central air and heating. One room has a queen-sized bed, and the other has a full-sized futon bed which is thick and comfortable. One of the couches in the living room is also long enough to sleep a fifth adult at no additional cost if you wish. As this house isn't vacant, I will have items in the pantry/fridge/closets, though I will make sure everything is clean and welcoming!
Visitors can enjoy free Google Fiber with the latest high speed wifi standard and Google Fiber TV on an an easy to use home theater setup, and free firewood for the firepit on the back patio. The home also has a charcoal grill and smoker, as well as stainless steel gas appliances.
I ride my bike downtown every weekend, and it is an easy 15 minute trip, using the very nice Lamar Pedestrian bridge (although on the way back be warned that there is a very steep hill at Flipnotics that will require you to walk up). You may rent bikes at Barton Springs Bike Rental.
There is a frontloading washer and dryer in one of the bedrooms.

Good location but home was very dirty
I have to say I am stunned and saddened by this review and I certainly wish they would have contacted me to give me an o[opportunity to address their concern before leaving one star. Right before them I have seven reviews in a row that are all five stars that all specifically mention cleanliness, including multiple stays just weeks before theirs.
They came to me as a new user with 0 reviews or rentals and gave me an inquiry on short notice, for a holiday weekend no less, and low balled me with an offer $50 per night less than the list price and despite all of this I accepted for them and made quick arrangements to stay elsewhere. I hired a cleaning crew to come through and clean as I always do, and I'm even sitting in my own right now writing this, after their stay, and looking around the house seems immaculate and clean to me. What's remarkable is that they couldn't even give me a 3 star or even 2 star review...they gave me 1 star as though the house was in squalor. I do try to make it clear that this is a real 88 year old bungalow that is lived in and although it's not run like a hotel I will do everything my power to offer a fantastic stay. They got a tremendous deal on their stay renting a newly remodeled home in a tremendous location for the price of a mid range single hotel room in Austin and I just don't know what else to stay. It is devastating to receive such a low rating. I hope future renters will see this is an aberration from an unknown renter with no review history and does not reflect the experience others have or the level of service I attempt to offer. I care a lot about the experience of my renters and I want them to feel like they got a tremendous deal, and I'm always lightening fast to address any issues that arise, if only given the opportunity.
Modern meets classic
Very maticulous house that seems lived in and immediately welcomes you. Super close to downtown and Zilker. Convenient and cozy with all the amenities of a 5 star hotel or spa in a full size house. Lovely Neighborhood. Would love to stay here again. Thanks Rick
This was truly the Austin I wanted to experience
House was fantastic! could run in Zelker park, walk to dinner and hear SXSW music from backyard
Clean, modern, great location
We spent 5 weeks here, 2 adults and a 2 1/2 y.o. The location is excellent, close to Zilker park (and everything that comes with it, the awesome trail, Barton Springs pool), restaurants, Alamo Drafthouse movie theatre, Zach theatre, lots of things to do in the area. The neighborhood is quiet, friendly and also very close to downtown (Lamar can get busy but if you can avoid peak hours downtown is a 5 min drive away). The house is clean and tastefully furnished. Rick is very responsive and helpful; he actually lives there sometimes (I think) so you can expect to find absolutely everything you need for a longer stay -- the kitchen is well stocked, the appliances are modern and work perfectly. Rick clearly likes gadgets and although I understand that some people might have trouble operating the media centre or the TV, you're in for a treat when it comes to home entertainment (hey, there's a Sonos in every room, even the bathroom! I know it might not matter for most, but it can make your stay more pleasant for sure). Also, it has Google Fiber!
I highly recommend this place. Thanks Rick!
Great location, clean, well stocked kitchen and bath, nicely furnished
Very close to lots of restaurants, shopping and Zilker park. A perfect place to stay for ACL! Rick is very responsive and accommodating. His house is cute, clean and safe. Great neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again!
Couldn't have been more perfect for ACL......
The house was just what we needed for the long weekend. Clean and close to the festival. We didn't rent a car and had no issues walking or catching ride share vehicles to anywhere we wanted to go. I am hoping to come back next year for ACL and stay in the same place.
An old bungalow in the heart of Austin -- blocks from the Alamo Drafthouse Lamar, the Saxon Pub, and The Highball. We are a 20 minute walk to the free concerts at Auditorium Shores and just two miles to the convention center downtown. I am six blocks from Barton Springs, and walking distance to Zilker Park for festivals.
