Great location, cramped quarters, good value for price
Location is perfect if you want to be in the Village. However, the unit/complex is dated, space is cramped, and unit is only partially updated/remodeled. The value was perfect for what we wanted for a family of 4 who wanted to be in the village and not pay an arm and a leg. Here’s what to expect: Climb two flights of stairs to get up to a narrow hallway to enter unit. Unit has updated kitchen area with complete supply of small appliances, utensils, spices, etc. Love that they don’t clean out paper goods, spices, etc. between renters. Also supplied plenty of dishwasher soap and toiletries. (Note: Freezer needs adjustment, wasn’t keeping ice cream frozen). Living room has big plush sofa to seat 3, but needs one more comfy chair for 4th guest. Unit has thermostat, but not sure it works. Also has independent heating/air conditioning unit. Had to use AC in the winter because unit must be getting heat from below and we were HOT often. Love XFINITY TV service for kids and ability to choose from 4000+ free movies. Unfortunately there were live concerts outside nearby for our first 3 nights (Burton US Open celebration) and the bass gave us headaches, and was so strong that the heating registers were rattling. Bedroom area (2 queens) is in loft you get to by climbing narrow stairs above living area. One bed is below slanted roof, and if not careful, you will hit your head on the low side of the bed. Stairs are a safety hazard for small children, but adequate otherwise. One cannot watch TV, cook, etc. in living area without disturbing those sleeping as it is all open. Small bathroom needs remodeling, but is clean and adequate. Really only room for one guest at a time. Water heater must be shared between units because water temperature varied even though we were not using other sources. However, we had adequate hot water. The unit met all expectations for what we paid, but is not a luxurious “diamond in the rough”. The owner/manager gave us excellent instructions, we were able to find it, get in and out without a problem., Wi-fi was working, easy to order groceries to be delivered, etc. As “low maintenance” travelers, we enjoyed our stay.
Excellent Location, perfect condo!
Perfect condo, we had all the entrance information ahead of time, amazing location!
Very nice and as described.
The location was impressive but the Alicia was even more impressive. We were a last second booking and her communication was outstanding and the reason we were able to escape Denver for the weekend. To top it off, as we scurried to get to the mountain for a big powder day, we left contacts and toothbrush behind in the property. I called Alicia and let her know about our bonehead move and within days we had our personal belongings back in our possession. Way to go with the outstanding customer service!
Reasonably priced, well-stocked crash pad with a kitchen in the heart of Vail Village.
Clearly the best part of this rental is the location - in Vail Village right across from the skating rink. It’s about a 5 minute walk to the gondola. You’ll want to store your skis closer to the gondola to avoid carrying them though.
The room is small but ok for 3 people (no more than 2 adults). The kitchen is very functional, and she has stocked it nicely with silverware, cutlery, pots, pans, basic spices and even starter coffee. You’ll just need to provide food. There isn’t a grocery store nearby so you’ll need to stop and load up before you arrive. She also supplies linens, towels, soaps, etc which you don't always find with condo rentals.
While there wasn’t the normal “here’s what you need to know, how to work the tv, restaurant recommendations, etc” cheatsheet, Alicia was responsive to emails. I just hated to interrupt her so many times.
There is zero storage. No pantry to store groceries. No dresser or even shelves to store clothes. There are some pegs for ski jackets, and a 3 foot wide closet with no hangers. We were a group of guys so we just kept our clothes in our suitcases on the floor. Also, the gas fireplace didn't work consistently.
My biggest frustrations were all things disclosed before rental, so I can't complain, but they are worth noting. There is no washer or dryer and the nearest laundromat requires a drive or bus. There is no hot tub - there’s a spa within walking distance but it's pricey at $30 per person per day for a day pass. Parking is incredibly convenient (50 steps), but it's $50/day with no in/out privileges.
All in all it's a reasonably priced, well-stocked crash pad with a kitchen in the heart of Vail Village.
This condo is not advertised with a washer/dryer or hot tub as mentioned in the review. It is amazingly priced to be walking distance to everything in the village. All renters have to do is compare and everyone is happy with our well stocked condo, the location and the price.
I never mind responding to anyone's phone calls or emails.
Great location but that's where it ends
Positive: Location, Location, Location! If you want to be in the HEART of Vail Village where you can walk anywhere in town, this is the place. It's especially helpful if you don't actually plan on being in the unit that much. The property manager was lovely to deal with and always responded right away.
The not-so positive: The property is quite old and despite an "updated" kitchen leaves a lot to be desired. The building is dingy and smells like mildew. No elevator makes loading and unloading difficult up a steep stair climb, particularly when you don't have parking near the unit. Many of the necessities were missing (bath mat, hot pads, pitchers, proper knives, a toaster, and other important things) as the unit is often shared with another and the owners move the items back and forth between units I was told. No balcony and windows without screens made it very stuffy and really hot even on a cool day. The beds were comfortable enough but it is an awkward layout in the loft. We stayed here with children, but I wouldn't recommend it for children under 5. The stairs to the loft are treacherous.
This unit does have a bath mat, toaster, new knives and hot pads. I will certainly purchase a pitcher for the kitchen immediately. None of the units have a balcony and all the window's are new. We have A/C in the unit so cooling off in the summer is not a problem. This unit is advertised on the second floor of the Vail Core Building and we never said an elevator was a part of the package. The loft is also as described with two new full size beds with new bedding. The kitchen is new and the furniture in the living area and dining room table are sufficient for a small family. The building hallway was just re-done with new carpet, paint and lighting. The location is in the heart of everything Vail has to offer. We strive to make everyone's visit positive and we always address any needs the renters have immediately. Please read the other reviews, they are positive.
Great location. Alicia was warm, helpful and welcoming.
A nice unit, a wonderful owner and a great location. Loft area gets warm so if you like to sleep cool you may find it a challenge.
