Clean, well-kept house in an excellent location across from Anini Beach access

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this house. Very clean, and well-provisioned with comfortable beds & furniture. Extensive library of books, wrap-around deck and shaded car parking under the house are pluses. Owner takes good care of this house, paying attention to many small details to make the stay very pleasant. Although it rained each day we were there, the house amenities made the weather a minor inconvenience. The owner, Todd, is very responsive with prompt communication, and very helpful.

We were here about 2 months after the flood in April, and the local community still recovering was in evidence as some businesses still closed and Hanalei quieter than usual, no access to beaches and activities past Hanalei causing more people both local and visitor to be at Anini Beach, and a temporary shortage of some fruits/crops due to flood effects. As a visitor, this house's location was very helpful in having close walk-in access to a quieter part of Anini Beach, and a pleasant home to spend time relaxing in with easy access to alternative activities. Even with the flood road closures, we still prefer the quieter North Shore to the hubbub of Poipu.

I will note that there have always been a few "long-term campers" living at either end of Anini Road (at Wylie's Beach and near the "Wires" surf area), and at the campsite at Anini Beach Park. We have always felt safe and welcome in all the 8 years we have been visiting at Anini. Although this year, perhaps due to dislocations from the flood, there are many more people appearing to be long-term living along Anini Road, the location of this house is not directly affected, and we still felt safe and welcome.

We just finished a 5 night stay at the house. what a great place the pictures do not do it justice. The house is beautiful and in a great location. Very easy access to the beach. The house had everything we needed. Already planning our return trip.

Amazing beach front property.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here just after the floods at Hanalei. The property was absolutely fine and Todd very helpful in answering our queries about whether it would be ok to visit the north shore. We unfortunately didn’t get to swim at Anini given the brown water, but our inconvenience was obviously minor compared to the loss suffered furthered west.

The house itself is better than it shows in the pictures. The main room is huge with very high ceilings. The back yard is immaculate and beautiful, perfect for the kids to run around. The beach entrance is just across the road, and the beach is very quiet.

Hanaleia and Kilauea are very close and the Saturday markets near the mini golf were amazing.

This is a great spot and we hope to be able to return one day.

Beautiful home for a relaxing family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We loved this home near Anini Beach. Chose it specifically because of its location; we have a small child and Anini has a big reef, is safe for swimming year-round. We also stayed with my parents, so there were four adults and one child, and we all had plenty of room at Noho Kai. We couldn't have been happier with our rental choice! The house itself is beautiful, and yet somehow extremely comfortable. We felt so at home here! Inside, the owners have thought of everything, and provided it (pantry is stocked with spices, oils, vinegars; liquor cabinet has plenty of choices; beach gear is awesome; plenty of sunscreen and bug spray left by previous renters). I requested a high chair for my son, and it was waiting in the kitchen when we arrived (the property manager, Todd Anderson, was courteous and very helpful). The pictures don't do it justice. This house is beautiful and open and BIG. And the porches add 2x the common space (not that you need it; but it's so nice to be able to spend time outside at home).

The house is in a quiet neighborhood, neighbors not too close. The backyard is HUGE. It was perfect for our son to run around chasing roosters (which are all over Kauai). One rooster, however, was posted outside next to the master bedroom. My mom had some trouble sleeping through his crows (my dad didn't notice; and we didn't have a problem in the bedroom across the house).

The only thing of note is the port-a-crib. I was excited that this rental listed one on the property. However, it did not work out for my son. It is an old wooden folding crib, with a thin (~1 inch), old mattress. For a smaller child, it might have worked out, but my kid is long and heavy (30lbs) at 21mos. Good news is, Babylicious - babyliciouskauai (dot) com - came through with a full-size crib rental on the day I requested it! They are located in Hanalei and so pickup and delivery to Noho Kai was FREE! The fee was only $11/day. Totally worth it. Also, they are lovely people.

This is hands down one of the nicest vacation rentals I have ever experienced. HIGHLY recommend. I wish we could spend all our free time at Noho Kai!

Wonderful stay in a beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Noho Kai with 2 other couples from Wyoming and had a wonderful stay there. The house is lovely--we could often hear the ocean at night. I enjoyed walking to Anini beach early in the morning--it was lovely. The back yard is beautiful and we took full advantage of the ripe oranges--they were wonderfully sweet and juicy. There are many extras in the kitchen--spices, olive oil, some different vinegars were some. We also took advantage of the books. We found the house without difficulty in the dark and the directions were clear about how to get in. We loved sitting around and visiting in the great room--the furniture is very comfortable. There's lots of space on the lanai--a great place to eat, read, or visit. There's also a handy outside shower or a hose to wash sand off your feet. It was not a surprise, but the room with twin beds is smaller, so one couple had to draw the "short straw". They said they were perfectly comfortable and with the 1/2 bath, it was not a problem. It was raining the day we left and we all were so glad that all 3 cars were under shelter so we didn't have to pack up in the rain. Our deposit was fully returned within 2 weeks of our visit. My husband and I had been to Kauai several times before, but had never stayed on the North shore. We're so glad we chose Noho Kai--a great place.
