Fantastic Pool Setting right across from the Pacific Ocean in lively Downtown San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua. The largest private pool in all of San Juan Del Sur. Stones throw away from the beach and practically in town. You want to come to San Juan and not worry about a car??? Our place is the place for you.
The apartment itself is clean functional and bright. It has two bedrooms; one with a king size bed and the other with two bunk beds (perfect for the kids). This apartment is great for couples as well as young families. The kitchen is stocked with everything you will need and has all the conveniences.
Speaking of conveniences, for a nominal fee, Angela our caretaker is available for all of your domestic needs. Apart from being an amazing Nicaraguan cook, Angela will take care of your washing needs as including linens and dishes.
Walk to town – San Juan del Sur is the perfect walking town filled with shops and plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Your location could not be better as you will be in the heart of town literally right across from the Pacific Ocean.
The Pool – The pool is the largest in San Juan about 6m x 14m. Tiled in Royal Blue, it remains tepidly warm all year round. Surrounding the pool is a cabana with plenty of seating options.
UPDATE - AS OF 8/2012 WE NOW HAVE WIFI INTERNET AND CABLE TV.
Finally THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT : The power goes out in San Juan del Sur OFTEN. We have our own generator to keep you powered off the grid while you are here. Our powerful generator is ready for service. The only thing we ask is that you purchase the diesel fuel.
We are two Nicaraguan citizens that love it when people come and have a great time. Not only are we homeowners but we really treasure the local community. We are not only here to offer you our place but to help make your trip memorable. Please email us with any questions you might have about San Juan Del Sur or Nicaragua in general. We can help plan itineraries and offer you must-sees in Nicaragua

We spent a full month in this cosy house and felt very secure thanks to the constant guards at the entrance. The personal working here was really nice, special mention to Roberto and Felix.
The house is part of a 5 houses complex, all side by side. This house is the last on the right and has great space with hammock and 2 sets of table and chairs to enjoy the outside private terrace. Also enjoyed the outside space behind the house to hand-wash our clothes (other options are available to have someone wash your clothes in town).
We used the swimming pool almost everyday and it was long enough to swim. Some issues every 3 o 4 days about the water quality but it was always taken care of promptly.
Going to the beach is as simple as crossing the street. This beach is perfect for a family like ours. Easy and regular waves. Coming back home we could use the hoses to rince off before getting into the house.
The house itself is fully furnished and has about everything we needed. Beds are comfortable, AC works fine and there are sufficient fans as well. Internet is working most of the time just fine.
I will conclude saying the communication was easy with the owners and I would definitively recommend this place for anyone visiting San Juan del Sur.
We've been visiting lovely San Juan del Sur annually since 2003. We only discovered Madeline's Place in 2009 and have anxiously returned each year since. Enrico and Maddie make us feel welcome as we arrange reservations via email. The place is amazing... ...beautiful two-bedroom apartment with a nice kitchen, reliable appliances, room for the crew (Rhoda and I usually stay in the main bedroom while surf buds bunk it in the additional room), wireless internet with good signal, a TV that provided all the Royals playoff games, and the pool. Did I mention the pool? Who goes surfing all day in Nicaragua and then gets to enjoy a Flor de Caña and OJ by the beautiful pool. Even the neighbors have been charming (one can't have too many good friends). Angela is warm and takes great care of the place on schedule. The staff provides impecible security and treats us like family, and over our five years they have become like family. Each afternoon at 5:30, it's time to walk across the road to photograph another spectacular sunset. It's a short walk along the beach to any restaurant in town. We rely on Allan Carcamo, the best surf guide in Nicaragua to get to Playa Madera, Hermosa, Remanso, etc. daily. Even the Super Poli (the grocery store) is walkable. I offer my heartiest recommendation to Madeline's Place. Just don't make your reservations for the last weekend in September into the first days of October. I hope we'll be there...
We used the owner's recommended driver to take us to the apartment and he was great. The unit was older but was OK. Quite a few ants. The description stated there were 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. There was one bathroom and when we asked about it the owner indicated that the "second bathroon" was the one down at the pool. The pool was nice. Wi Fi was very spotty. We only stayed Friday -Sunday and unfortuantely on this particular Sunday there was a planned brown out where the power did not work from 6 AM until 2 PM. So, there was no AC, no Wi Fi, no way to really get ready to leave for the airport and no way to charge cell phones. We left at 3 and power was still not back on. Very disappointed with that day in the unit, especially since everyone (except us) knew that this power outage was coming and they planned accordingly. It happens regularly in this location so it might be worth asking about. There was also a plumbing issue in the one bathroom where the hot water for the shower is generated by running through a warmer that is plugged in right about the shower head and it is very unnerving to have electicity in with the water. Other folks in the neighboring apartments told us "well that's why they call them widow makers!" Not wanting to be electrocuted we elected to unplug it and take cold showers....which actually feel pretty good in the heat of Nicaragua!
My friend and I stayed here for a week and it could not have been more perfect for us. We felt safe with the 24/7 security guards and loved being so close to town. The property is tucked away into its own little private and quiet oasis - removed from the nightlife of downtown San Juan. The space easily accommodated us. It is clean and very well maintained. Although we ate all our meals out, the kitchen is fully stocked with equipment. We both took full advantage of the hammock right outside our apartment sneaking in little naps in between activities. Enrico was super informative in offering ideas for "must do" while in San Juan and was able to organize a driver, Allen, to take us from and to the airport. Allen was great he gave was so much information on the country and was able to organize a horse back riding adventure for us. I would go back in a heartbeat it's that good!
We were here only a week, but tucked away from the busy street with a quiet, private pool area, Maddie's Place was a wonderful place to call home. We've since moved on to another spot and it is not nearly as comfy and well-equipped as Maddie's. The outdoor seating area, complete with a huge hammock was the perfect place to unwind or nap. And though you are essentially in town, it's far enough away from the downtown core that you can escape most (not all) of the noise. Every kitchen utensil and appliance you could possibly need was provided, the security staff was always present, and we often had the pool area to ourselves. Highly recommend it.
I enjoyed a 5-week stay at this house from April - May 2013. Prior to arriving, both Maddie & Enrico were incredibly responsive to all questions! Upon arrival, I was thrilled to find that I had rented a great 2-bedroom home that was (a) as close as you can possibly get to town without the mayhem of living in the center of it all, (b) across the street from the beach, (c) incredibly secure with 24/7 gated security and (d) just steps away from the gorgeous shared swimming pool! The location of the home is ideal for anyone wishing to enjoy the loud nights of SJDS before returning home by foot to a quiet and peaceful oasis.
The house itself is super comfortable and offers every amenity imaginable. The kitchen it FULLY stocked and on nights that we prepared dinner for more than 6 people, there is ample dishware, glasses and cutlery for at least 10+ persons! Rare to find in a vacation rental...
The master bedroom was spacious and the AC made for a comfortable atmosphere. The guest room, while super small, offered ample space for visiting friends to sleep. I would agree with the host's description that the guest room is great for children, but also add that it's comfortable for backpackers as well, which were the majority of my friends who visited.
Internet was stable throughout my entire 5 weeks and we never lost electricity (common in Nicaragua!) for more than a couple hours.
And the pool! Simply divine. A wonderful place to spend your days or evenings after a hot day at the beach.
All of the security guards were incredibly helpful and so sweet! Angela, the caretaker and housekeeper that I hired to come once a week was the ABSOLUTE BEST. Such a kind woman and I miss her already! I cannot thank each of them, as well as the owners enough for this incredible experience. I will surely return!
San Juan Del Sur is the perfect place for your Nicaraguan Vacation. You have access to some of the best beaches and are a short drive away to cultural colonial cities like Granada, Nicaragua. This property is unique in that it offers the best of both worlds; seclusion and privacy as well as the ease and excitement of being in downtown San Juan. No need to rent a car as you will be in the middle of it all. When you are looking to escape, retire to our private enclave with 24 hour gated security.
