Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4

Light-filled townhouse in the middle of hipster H St-Capitol Hill. The home is walking distance to trendy H Street's coffee shops, shopping, bars (Rock&Roll Hotel, H Street Country Club) and restaurants (Maketto, Granville Moore's, Toki Underground, Fare Well and a new Whole Foods opening soon). A 15 minute walk from Union Station and the Supreme Court, Senate building and the US Capitol buildings. Be close to the best that DC has to offer.

For parking, there is plenty of street parking available and I have a parking pass for guests to use. If you do not own a car, Uber and Lyft are commonly used in the area. Another option is Car2Go which has cars parked on the streets available for rent by the minute (you will need to download the app to access the cars). There is a free trolley one block from the house ( which drops off at Union Station (train station and subway station).

The US Senate building is a 15 minute walk from the house with all the major tourist attractions surrounding the area (Spy Museum, National Gallery of Art, National History Museum, etc).

The house has a washer/dryer, a dishwasher and high speed wifi. There is a smart TV with cable and which is connected to the internet. The second bed is a full-size pull-out mattress from the couch.

There is a 3 night minimum for reservations.

Children under 12 not allowed.

Stunning DC property - stylish, great amenities, excellent location

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully renovated terrace house is the perfect DC base. Located a short walk away from the new DCStreetcar that takes you directly to Union Station. Also with plenty of restaurants, cafes and a brand new Whole Foods store within easy walking distance you won't go hungry.

We parked our car right outside (with the provided parking pass) and left it there for the three days we stayed. An Uber ride back from Georgetown cost us less than $10.

The home itself has been thoughtfully renovated and every amenity is provided. The property is charming, functional and provides a fantastic home base. We cooked at home and ate in the courtyard - it really was ideal for our family of four.

An important factor for us is fast WiFi and this was excellent.

10 out of 10 for location, property set-up and communication with the property manager. Just wished we lived closer and could stay more often.

Efficient and close to everything

  • 4 of 5

Everything was good. The townhouse had everything you need "except" an iron and ironing board? Stairs leading to the upstairs bedroom and bathroom are VERY narrow. Hard time getting up them with a large suitcase. 25 min walk to the US Capital. We used Uber when we didn't feel like walking (quick & easy). Definitely think of staying here again if in DC.

Clean, pretty, functional space in neighborhood setting-everything you need.

  • 4 of 5

This was a very nice VRBO property...I loved that it was CLEAN, and had pots/dishes for cooking, and in-unit stackable laundry. Great. Also a cute yard with patio table and chairs, which I know we would have used in better weather. Downstairs pull-out couch is fine as pull outs go. Upstairs is the loft bedroom (no door/wall between upstairs bed and the bathroom and stairs). Upstairs bed a bit too soft for my preference, and I found the waterproof mattress protector sweat-inducing, so I removed halfway through, and slept better. Location is 3 blocks walk to the free streetcar, but note that streetcar is not the Metro...you'd take streetcar to where it stops up behind Union station, then walk into the station and catch Metro from there. Very workable, but it was a time consuming extra step, so we made good use of Lyft while there. Also I was encouraged by a local friend to not walk in the neighborhood much at night - we did so, but sparingly, to Whole Foods, etc. Overall, great property and price. We enjoyed having access to all the amazing things to do and see in Washington, D.C.

A Capital Accommodation in the National Capital

  • 5 of 5

This bright, charming, spacious and well-equipped townhouse has that quality and ambiance that makes one feel not so much a tourist as one at home in D.C. The neighbourhood has an interesting history; however, if you're interested in pursuing that I direct you to Wikipedia or a book. The location is within easy biking distance of anywhere a tourist in D.C. would want to go, and Washington is a bike friendly town. For those who travel without bikes, there are rental bikes readily available, and if walking or transit are you means of getting around, both can be accessed from here. In fact, the H-Street street car is currently free and can be boarded a mere three and and a half blocks away. The Union Station Metro stop is a mile away and for the ambulatory ambitious, it's not really that far to walk to the Capital Building. If you want to fee like you're at home in D.C.--which is what I'm told the locals call their city--you will do well to stay here.

Excellent location and amenities

  • 5 of 5

This was a fabulous little house for our get-away to DC. There is a Bikeshare rack about 2 blocks away, and then an easy ride to the other end of the mall. We ended up not even needing to use the Metro at all. The house is charming and very comfortable. The kitchen was well-appointed, and I was surprised how much easier it was to pack when I had access to a W/D to do laundry.

It was surprisingly easy to park as well - which made the rental car worth it to do some excursions to the more peripheral sites.

Overall would highly recommend.
