What makes this House unique
When you walk in you think you're actually standing IN the lake, with sky, forest and water all around. It's simply breathtaking and you won't want to go anywhere else, even though you of course can. Our huge screened in porch, one of two enormous lakeside decks, is where one can spend all day and night regardless of the weather.

The home is exactly as it shows on this site! Very peaceful and serene. The main floor is sunny.
The homeowners are wonderful to work with!
Lovely lake and location, light upstairs, worn home
We had a lovely stay at the house and enjoyed swimming in the lake. It's a great location: between machias and Lubec. Little bit of road noise. Quite close to neighbors; does not feel particularly remote. Lovely loon. House has not been updated for quite some time, so everything feels a little worn. No lid for lobster pot. Diwnstairs is quite dark and damp, though de humidifier helps.
wonderful location for a lakeside retreat
my family and I had a lovely time in the area. accessible to many other activities, but on the days when we wanted to just relax around the house it was just perfect. appreciated that the owners provided amenities for washing, cleaning and tidying up. we all loved the screened in porch and beautiful lake that was steps from the backyard.
We are so happy that you enjoyed your vacation in Maine and hope you come back again!
Beautiful lake house!
We had a wonderful time in this lake house. The house is clean and neat and it provides everything you can think of, even details such as dish-washing detergent, toilet paper and laundry stuff. The feeling is very homey and warm. The lake and the beach are amazing! We couldn't believe our eyes how beautiful the beach is when we first arrived.
I hope in the future we get a chance to come back. Coming all the way from Pittsburgh was worth it.
We are thrilled that you had such a nice time at the lake and hope that you can return soon.
WONDERFUL VACATION HOME!
My family and I stayed here this past August for 1 short week - wish it could have been longer! The owners are very helpful and acomodating. This home is clean, filled with sunshine and full of windows with fantastic lake views! We could hear the loons every morning, and watch beautiful sunsets each evening. The beds are comfy and the home is spotless. Everything you could want in a kitchen is already there. The stacked washer/dryer is o-so-handy and there are plenty of linens. What a pleasure to stay in such a lovely home. We were able to walk to blueberries and pick enough for several pies - always good! We rode our bikes all over, and enjoyed our kayaks on the lake - which is very quiet and peaceful. The home is just a short drive to Jasper beach or any number of hiking trails. We all agreed we would go back in a heartbeat!
Great stay and gorgeous lake!
My wife and young daughter had a terrific getaway to this quiet and gorgeous spot. The view of the lake and the lake itself were beautiful (quiet, clear, warm, with loons to boot). The half basement was not somewhere you'd spend much time but the main floor is ideal: great kitchen (nice and modern) and living area (comfortable sofas) and bed, with a nice long exterior deck. The owners were very helpful and responsive (they had the propane tank refilled the next morning after I called to tell them it had run out). As the cottage is near the main road it takes only 15 minutes to get to Hannaford's in Machias. This is especially convenient for Canadians as it is less than 45 minutes from the border. The pictures on the listing are very representative. We would definitely stay hear again. Thanks for a great stay.
This beautiful house is right on a gorgeous lake and is also within a ten minute drive of the area's relatively large town (Machias), home to a branch of the University of Maine. The university provides several cultural and recreational activities and spaces for children and adults alike. It is also quite close to FDR's summer home on Campobello Island as well as many beautiful fishing villages where you can buy incredibly fresh lobsters, clams, etc. directly from the source for much less than anywhere else
