New pull out sofa sleeper and love seat (Feb 2018). queen sized bed in the bedroom, this unit sleeps up to 4 guests comfortably. Our unit features high speed internet WIFI, a flat screen tv, full kitchen and two small dining tables.
You'll probably spend most of the time on our lanai area watching whales play in the winter time and enjoying the amazing sunsets each and every night. Our large lanai doors open right up to the amazing sounds of the surf, views of the ocean and sounds of the tropical birds. Imagine yourself enjoying coffee each and every morning on our lanai listening to the songs of the birds with the sounds of the ocean waves in the background.
Paki Maui Location:
Our property is in the Honokowai area and is only 5 minutes north of Kaanapali and 10 minutes north of Lahaina. We're a simple 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk to to world famous Kaanapali Resort which has been voted the #1 beach in the entire WORLD! And, we're just 5 minutes south of world famous snorkeling Napili and Kapalua Bays.
Paki Maui Property Features:
Snorkeling and swimming right from our property. Being able to walk ON THE BEACH from our property for 3 miles down to Kaanapali. Paki Maui Resort is actually the very last property that you can walk on the beach for miles all the way down to Black Rock in Kaanapali. “Walk on the beach” being the key words! Other properties might boast they have a private beach or a little cove or something but you won’t be able to take a long sunset or morning strolls more than 100 yards in either direction on the beach. It would just be too dangerous to walk on the lava rocks and cliffs from one cove to the next.
No property north of ours can you walk for miles down the beach! If you book north of us, you'll have to walk on the lower road down to our property or next door then start your walk on the beach.
Kaanapali Beach was voted nicest beach in the US and Black Rock is one of the top three “must snorkel” places to on Maui! I personally have seen eagle rays, turtles, Hawaiian monk seals and dolphins right in front of our property. Other properties north of Maui Sands you have to actually walk on the road onto our property then walk on the beach to Kaanapali. Were talking about a 2–3 mile stretch of beach and your at one end.

Details about our beach area:
Since were at the very end of a 3 mile long stretch of beach, our shoreline changes drastically depending on currents and storm systems far away. If you're staying right in the middle of middle of the 3 mile stretch of sandy beach, you're probably NOT going to notice the movement and you'll have a sandy beach all year around. But at the very end of any beach, you’ll notice the changes. By the way, right in the middle of Kaanapali Beach is Kaanapali Resort, which is a very expensive area of the island and that’s where you’ll find the Hyatt, Sheraton and Westin Resorts.
Typically during the summer months the ocean currents move the sand north towards our property and our beach grows. This is due to the increased tropical activity south of the islands. During the winter months the Alaskan storm systems push the current and the sand south towards Kaanapali and our beach comes and goes. But, a sandy beach to plant your towel down on is never more than say the property next door. Don’t’ bother asking if it’s sandy when you plan on coming because it can change drastically just overnight! It all depends on the currents and storm systems around the islands and sometimes we get effects from storm systems or hurricanes as far away as Australia and Fiji!

The location was the best part of our stay with the condo right on the ocean. The unit was old and needs some repairs especially in the kitchen. The dishwasher was broke and cupboard doors didn't close. The carpet didn't feel clean to walk on in bare feet either. It was nice to walk to shops close by for food to eat.
Great location for west side of Maui, lanai view is awesome
This condo rental is nicely furnished, has everything you need for your trip. We used the hide a bed in couch (comfy fold out). There were extra sheets in bedroom closet, along with towels and beach towels to use. Location is great, there are a couple of restaurants we enjoyed about 1 mile. Dolly's has great pizza, burgers & turkey/chicken wraps. There's also Beach House restaurant at the Sands, has good food. ABC store within walking distance has deli, drinks, clothing, souvenirs, etc. We used the pool, Jacuzzi/hot tub and lawn chairs out front. Honokowai beach park is next door, they have picnic tables, small, but nice sandy beach. Overall great trip, we enjoyed our stay at condo and would stay here again...

+ View from lanai / sitting room is as pictured. So beautiful!
+ Convenient location / easy to get around from this starting point.
+ Shower head is upgraded and tub fully drains when in use. (Shower/bathroom may be small for large / taller than 6’ humans.)
+ Ceiling fans provided in bedroom and living room. Additional fan located in bedroom to help drown out ambient noise. (No central A/C.)
- Ceiling / ceiling fans need to be dusted.
- Dishwasher is out of order / must handwash all dishes, even though on vacation.
- Bedroom located nearest exit / main common hallway = too noisy if you try to sleep with windows open.
- Main entrance door deadbolt not functional from exterior of unit. Can only be engaged from the inside.
- Overall the unit just seems to be old/dated.
+/- Bed is comfortable enough to sleep in, but pillows are kind of old/lumpy.
+/- Cabinets, furnitures, etc. are functional, but noticeably dated/used. Example: kitchen cabinets do not remain closed unless latched to magnet.
+/- Lanai sliding screen door is difficult to open/close. Opted to leave screen door open always and use only the glass sliders.
+/- Unit is located right along the beach and condo offers lounge chairs in a grassy area to relax on / watch sunset. However, adjacent ocean area is very rocky / difficult to swim in. Must drive to less rocky / safer beach for boarding and other water activities.
+/- If you’re planning to spend a lot of time in your vacation rental, perhaps pay a bit more for a more updated property. This unit seems to be original. If you just need a place to sleep and shower, this place will do just fine.
+ Short walk from ABC Stores and Gas Station. (Bring your Costco card and fill up at Costco to save $0.60+ per gallon.) Short drive to Times Grocery Store and Pizza Paradiso.
+ When you’re in the area, definitely try Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop. It was our favorite meal (lunch/dinner). We also most enjoyed breakfast at Down the Hatch in Lahaina, lunch at Seascape near Maui Ocean Center, and our Road to Hana Tour with Valley Isle Excursions. We did a whale watch through Pacific Whale Foundation and had a wonderful experience!!
Very nice place with great ocean view, private balcony and comfy bed (firm with foam pad). We have a hard time finding suitable beds including our own beds at home, but this was great ! The place was across the street from The Fish Market, which was very popular with take-out. (We did the first night) Get the take-out, fix your own cocktails and have your meal on your private balcony. The ABC store was 2 blocks down the street and the beach was next door. Limited swimming opportunities due to coral reefs and high surf. Water inside the reef was only a foot or two deep. Very close to bus stops and the bus runs every hour in both directions. We went into Lahaina frequently for only $2 each way or $4 for day pass. Highly recommend Baby Beach. Get off at Cannery Mall and walk half mile. The pool was unheated (79 degrees) but the hot tub was great (100 degrees). We had a great time despite some rain !
Great location, great value!
We loved sleeping to the sound of the ocean just meters away. The location was perfect for walking to beaches, resorts and restaurants, as well as several grocery stores and shops when we preferred to stay in and cook at home. Lahaina town is a short 10 min drive south, but we really enjoyed heading minutes north to Kahana and Napili for the farmers market and beautiful cove beaches. If proximity, feeling at home, and a gorgeous ocean view is what you're looking for, this is it.
The sun deck is the best part of this older unit.
Decent size unit with mini kitchen but full sized stove and fridge. We managed well but suitable for one chef at a time. Most of our time was spent watching and listening to the waves crashing in. The bedroom was at the rear of the unit so the waves could not be heard there. We would consider this first floor (10 ft off the ground) unit again. Nothing fancy but totally comfortable.
We did see a whale breaching from our deck despite being very early in the season. We stayed Nov 12-20,2017
