Why karina chose Amapas
SEA BREEZE has a superb location and a unique quality design with attention to detail that stands out amongst the competition. The proximity to the beach, cafes, bars and restaurants in the old town area and the ease of access to them all, with no hills to negotiate, along with its relaxing shared rooftop plunge pool area make this the ideal place to stay.
What makes this Condo unique
Ideal location; shared rooftop lounge/bar/plunge pool; modern, clean & well appointed apartments with ease of access and attentive management.
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
Great location, property good with some shortcomings, but after-stay service poor.
The location of this unit could not be better, and it is modern and well decorated. I at first thought the layout with an external corridor that separates the living from bed area was cute, but this was problematic, along with a few other items.
Because there is an outside corridor that separates the bedroom from the living area, the noise in the bedroom at night can be bad, with street noise, barking dogs, etc. Also, it means you need to be fully/reasonably clothed to go from bedroom to living area, even within your own unit, since the corridor has visible neighbours.
Other reviews had commented about the small bathroom, but I thought it would not be a big deal for a short stay, but the two of us did in fact consider it a problem. There is no counter space, not even a space to hang towels, wet swimsuit, etc., therefore we were having off door handles and over the door,.therefore the bathroom size and layout was a problem.
All this would have still been "ok" and I would have given 3 stars, but it is the post-stay service that moved it to a 2. I executive in a company and travel internationally 4+ months of the year, and I have never had the situation that resulted with this stay. Specifically, the manager decided to withhold a portion of my security deposit, claiming a broken iron and soiled towels. I replied to the manager that the iron was already broken but I did not think it was necessary to report it. Had I know there would be a unilateral deduction from my security deposit, I would have. As for the towels, I have no idea what they were referring to because we were two professional adults who used towels to shower, and at the beach. There was no other usage of towels therefore I have no idea what the concern might have been. What made the issue go from being "of concern" to unacceptable is the fact I sent 4 emails to the manager to inquire on the so-called damaged items, including mentioning the iron already being broken, but I received NO RESPONSE to any of my emails. While I won't get into the specifics of what they deducted from security deposit, I assume the fact they had my security deposit meant they believed they could act however they wanted, and had no obligation to respond to my inquiries. The fact 4 emails went without response is unacceptable, and this is what moved the rating to a 2.
If it had not been for the security deposit issue I would still recommend the unit, but I cannot.
Thanks for your feedback and apologies for the delay in responding via the VRBO messaging app to your security deposit concerns (as mentioned, your responses had not been forwarded to my regular address due to a misconfiguration). The majority of your security deposit has been returned to you after the relevant deductions. I won't cover any noise issues - the level varies, but staying during Peak season (Dec 16 - Jan 5) anywhere in the Old Town of PV can be problematic for light sleepers, though we haven't had many complaints so far. I have asked the building manager to address the lack of towel hanging space in the rear units, although the heavy soiling on the towels for which you were charged the replacement cost was not the result of them being hung in the various locations you mention and it was beyond normal wear & tear. After checking with the manager she is adamant the iron was broken during your stay, if not, then it serves as a reminder to others to report any such damage immediately so there is no room for confusion - using the iron on your day of departure and leaving the board out certainly gave the appearance of the damage being related to your stay. Regarding privacy, there is a narrow view of part of the outside passageway from the very corner of the kitchen space in the above unit - it has not been a concern for anyone so far, but we are going to assess the need for a roller blind in the passageway opening which will address this issue. You have been offered one free night of accommodation with us on any future booking of 6 nights or more at any time of the year, the value of which exceeds the amount deducted from your security deposit for this stay. Regards, Andrew.
Great Place to Stay
We stayed at the Sea Breeze for almost six weeks and were thrilled with the accommodations. Bright and beautiful. Excellent kitchen. Walking distance to everything in the old city. Karina, the property manager, was fantastic - prompt, friendly and accommodating. The other staff were great as well.
The only thing missing was the view, but then, it is only a three minute walk to the beach, so we really didn’t care!!
Good location. Great condo and amenities for the price. Just as advertised.
We stayed at the condominium from February 14-20. Although, things were clean and new there are many things that need to be worked out.
For starters the tv in the bedroom had no internet connection so it was unusable we were told they were working on getting it fixed, it was not fixed during our stay. The small roof top pool needed to be "rebuilt" so it was not available, our cleaning service never happened and there was not a broom or scrub brush available in the unit to do any independent cleaning, not to mention there was only one kitchen towel available the entire week, there were no extra garbage can liners and removing garbage from our room and where to put it was unclear.
The bathroom layout is very strange and tight.... if you are a large person do not rent these units because you will not be able to get into the toilet room from one of the entries. I weigh 125 and am 5'7 and my husband is 5'11 and 215# and it was awkward for both of us.
Although the location is convenient to the beach this condo is surrounded by less than desirable views and at times I felt "watched" by the many windows looking in.
During the day there was very loud construction going on like "sledgehammer loud" and at night there was a non-stop barking dog along with loud partying going on from the surrounding area.
And last but not least the furniture in the kitchen/living area was extremely uncomfortable for tv viewing. Overall, I feel this unit is overpriced currently until all their issues are worked out.
Diamond in the rough
I was the first occupant of this unit. Overall, this property has good bones. Recently gutted and re-constructed, there were very few flaws in the physical building. The electrical outlets were plentiful and the decor all blended spendidly. Unit 302 is on the back half of the floor and has a very nice balcony that overlooks downtown (to the north), which also means it was quite quiet from the street in the front. The new elevator started working on my last day which would have been nice. Overall, it is a nice layout for a one bedroom condo. But there is room for improvement. I pointed out the lack of a lightbulb in the only reading lamp in the front room and was told it is a special bulb and they did not replace it during my 10 day stay, so I had no reading light. The WIFI was spotty in the front room and non-existent in the bedroom. EVERY time I used a device I had to re-connect it to the wifi. This also means I couldn't use my devices in bed as there was no wifi in the bedroom. The layout is interesting, but the toilet is in a cramped room such that the front door of the bathroom doesn't open all the way because it is hitting a towel rack. I weigh 224 pounds and couldn't fit through the front door of the bathroom. Overall, I gave it 4 stars as I liked the decor and the location.
Thanks for the review. We will take a look at the Wi-Fi problem - I suspect it may be a faulty Access Point in the unit (it's firmware was recently updated) as you certainly should not have to reconnect devices each time and coverage should have been better than what you experienced.
While the apartments are not huge, they are comfortably sized for most and we have not had any other comments similar to yours regarding the toilet space. Not to say we can't make improvements if necessary, but firstly if you could please provide a little more context to your physique by telling me your height that would be helpful..?
Apologies regarding the bulb, we will make sure to keep spares onsite in future.
Again, thanks for your review, we do welcome all viewpoints and strive to make improvements to our accommodation & service offering where practicable.
An amazing location, just steps away from the vibrant Los Muertos beach with the best swimming, restaurants/cafes, and bars available in the Old Town of Puerto Vallarta. Easy access to everything, and very accessible to all ages and abilities.
