Why Dan Hedberg chose Ocean Grove
Situated on Wesley Lake near a foot bridge that transports you to Asbury Park. Sunrise and sunset reflect up and down the lake, giving great views morning and evening. The Delaware Ave. fire lane runs next to our house, added to our yard gives spacious room between our neighbor to the east. The yard gives room for the kids to play under your watchful eye from the overlooking deck. Three blocks from the town center and the Great Auditorium, and 3 short blocks futher to the ocean, puts you in a peaceful setting. Come once and you will be back. NJ Transit train station in Asbury Park is a 5-minute walk from the house.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Comfortable Home, Lovely Location
We very much enjoyed our stay in this comfortable home with its lovely porch and lake views. It is perfectly located for easy walking to restaurants and shops in both Ocean Grove and Asbury Park. Having bathrooms on both floors allowed for comfort and privacy. We will definitely keep it in mind for future stays.
It was good except for the parking
Good clean accommodations but Asbury Park charges for parking... so everyone parks in Ocean Grove...leaving no room for residents when they return home.
Very unique and historical!
My family of six stayed at the historic lakefront estate for two nights. It was well furnished with a warn inviting atmosphere. Close to beach and unique shopping in Asbury Park. History of Ocean Grove was also very interesting. Wish we would have had more time to explore!
Nice location, house needs some work
Our group was 2 families (2 adults, 2 kids each), stayed for a week in August. Dan was a great host; met us at check-in to walk us around the house; very nice. The house, however, was a bit of a disappointment. It was clean, but starting to fall apart a bit. No major issues, just rough around the edges. Renters get the 2nd and 3rd floors. Parking is tough, so we had to park temporarily in fire zone to unload. Have to carry all gear past roadside house to this house which sits behind, then up to 2nd floor; not a major deal but not convenient. 2nd floor has bedroom with queen bed, 2nd bedroom with twin + trundle, large bathroom with washer/dryer. 3rd floor has bedroom with double bed, 4th bedroom with two twins, and smaller bathroom with shower. wall unit a/c in all bedrooms. Kitchen is very small and NO living room. thankfully, the covered 2nd floor porch was there. Porch has a nice view over the lake onto a few restaurants. We had our coffee and after-beach cocktails on the porch, but a few days it was really hot out there. Disappointed in not having a living room to sit. It is a long walk to the beach; 1/2 mile. Thankfully, there was a wagon available to use.
I wouldn't shy away from this house, just wanted to give an honest review of the limited space and fact that it is in need of some upgrades/renovations.
We welcome all comment that are designed to help us improve our guests experience.
Yes, our 125 year old Victorian, houses our guest 2nd and 3rd floor accommodations, which is a great value for the space. It is centrally located to the town centers of Ocean Grove and Asbury Park. It is a pleasant 6 block walk to the beach, right past the Great Auditorium. and the 'tents'. Trains to NYC are to the west 4 blocks away.
The kitchen was use by 15 guys in our church's men's retreat. It's a nice space with a love seat, a table with 2 leaves, a good size island and a ROKU television. It opens to a sitting room with a custom full size couch on one side and the deck overlooking Wesley Lake, on the other.
We have a new marketing tool.
When parking is scarce in the summer you can always find a place close to the house to unload your gear, the Delaware Ave fire lane's, No Parking Zone.
We will continue do our best to provide a place for your family to find your own spot to get away from the challenges of life. We accept the challenge to do better. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know.
Hope to hear from you soon.
My family enjoyed a wonderful week in this charming house. Dan was a terrific host, meeting me there and making sure I knew where everything was. The porch was well-used by all of us, from morning tea to afternoon naps. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. I loved that the linens and towels were provided.
Dan was great to communicate with beforehand, quickly answering my questions. The directions to the house were extremely helpful, as it's not right on the street (making it more private and quiet).
The area is lovely and completely walkable, and we put in many miles during our week. It was an easy walk to the beach and boardwalk, as well as to the towns of Ocean Grove and Asbury Park. One highlight was seeing the full moon rise up from the ocean. Another was the ice cream in OG, which is not to be missed! Be sure to visit the farmers market on Sunday, just on the other side of the lake.
We are already dreaming about a return visit next summer!
My husband and I spent the weekend in this Ocean Grove Victorian for the NJ Marathon weekend. We were greeted by Dan, his daughter, and granddaughters who live on the first floor of this large home. The second and third floors were spacious and clean. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the house but there was definitely enough space to accommodate a family. You do have a view of the lake and directly across from the home you have access to the revitalized restaurants, beer garden, and shops in Asbury Park.
