Doesn’t get much better than this!
This is a great place! It’s not perfect, but unless you’re expecting ultra luxury everything, it’s pretty darn good. The location is almost ideal next to the Waialae country club and away from the noise and traffic. A lot of the basic necessities are there (like soap, shampoo, salt, pepper, cooking oil, soy sauce, maps, a Frommer’s guide, a cooler, beach hats and more stuff we didn’t use) . Nice hosts, very quiet, classy house in a classy neighbourhood but you definitely need a car to get around.
I think someone complained about the sheets and towels but they were fine, unless you’re expecting luxury linens.
I don’t think you can get any better than this without spending two or three times as much money.
Getting in and out of the driveway is tight and the shower curtain rod could stand to be replaced. Minor issues.
I suppose I may have difficulty staying there again if it’s too popular but it’s just really nice
Thank you for your gracious review. We enjoyed having you as guests
Kahala Guest Suite
My wife and I generally enjoyed our nine-night February/March stay at the Kahala Studio.
Positives: Location was good with beach access only a couple of blocks away (Waialae Beach Park) albeit on the windy side of the island which prevented us enjoying this area much of the time. Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach was a fairly short drive away. The home where the rental studio was located is in an upscale neighborhood and only a short drive to the Kahala Mall. We found dining options a bit challenging in the area with mostly fast food and basic chain restaurant options. Chili's was about the top of the line in that area. A 'Whole Foods' store was adjacent to the mall as well.
Limited parking was provided on the property which was a nice amenity considering the neighborhood's parking challenges.
Negatives: The studio was promoted as 'Luxury' accommodations which really didn't accurately portray the unit's décor or amenities. Bed linens and accessories should have been much better quality and bathroom towels were stale and had an pungent odor.
The photos of the property on VRBO are a bit deceiving in that a wide angle lens makes the unit look much larger than it actually is.
Furnishings are a bit sparse and uncoordinated.
We felt that the unit was somewhat dark and a little claustrophobic with only one entrance nearly blocked by huge plants and most windows faced a very close outside wall. There was no outside patio or area to enjoy the beautiful outdoors or a mini grill to cook out.
The small kitchen was adequate but cookware, china and glassware needed to be upgraded. The couch or sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable with no end tables, coffee table or table lamps.
We did find the owner friendly and accommodating and the unit probably had a fairly decent value considering the cost of nearby resort accommodations. The Studio has a lot of potential but at this point we would suggest that one should manage one's expectations based on reality.
Kahala area is the most exclusive area of Honolulu and there are many great restaurants so I'm not sure why you think Chili was the "top of the line" in the area. The wide angle photo was posted to give you a wide view of the room, not to deceive anyone. Most guests would tell us the room shows exactly how the photos are. Yes, there are various levels of luxury. For all the guests we've had to date, all have considered the price paid (approx. $180 each night) for the room, location, linens, cookware, parking is of exceptional value. Kahala Hotel is a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk away, the luxurious rooms are $500 - $1000 a night. I think are you perhaps used to that level of accommodations and rates. That is true reality.
Very nice updated accommodations.
Everything you need, including laundry. I cooked several meals and always found the utensils I needed. It is a short 2 minute walk to Kahala Beach and 5 - 10 minute drive to Waikiki. Great location and private. Owner is on the premises so they were very responsive when texted. Would highly recommend a stay here
Beautiful home in a perfect location!
I recently stayed in this lovely suite in January and both my husband and I absolutely loved it! The room had everything we needed, studio style, allowing us to stay comfortably in a great location. We were able to walk to the beautiful Kahala Beach every morning and sunset as well as enjoy shopping just a short 5 minute drive to the Kahala mall. The suite had everything we needed for cooking meals (full kitchen) and was super convenient with a designated parking space. Paul was very attentive and accommodating throughout our entire stay. Would definitely stay here again. Mahalo!
The room is nice and clean and well appointed. Paul the host is very nice.
It could use a new bed as the current one is very wobbly and noisy. Needs a range hood/exhaust fan over the stove for cooking.
Overall a nice little place, but found it a bit over priced since there is no view of any kind.
We have never received any complaints regarding the bed. The price for a hotel room with view in the Kahala area is in the range of $400 - $1000 a night so it's quite a bargain for a nicely appointed room in Kahala.
Thakyou Paul and Susie,
We had a wonderful time in your suite. There was everything we needed at our finger tips and your hospitality was exceptional.
The suite was well positioned for us as our son got married just a short walk down the beach. The public transport was handy also. We couldn't fault it and would definitely recommend it to our friends.
