About Tony Akin
I live in the Houston Heights which is a beautiful 100 year plus neighborhood and have a life long love of old homes. After 15 years in this neighborhood I've renovated 3 homes. I decided to branch into the vacation rental market in Galveston and feel fortunate to have rescued and revived 3 wonderful old homes that are all available for your Galveston getaway.
Tony Akin purchased this House in 2010
Why Tony Akin chose San Jacinto
This house is across the street from one of my other houses and it was quite a mess when I purchased it. Saying it needed some 'TLC' was an understatement! I knew it had potential and after a year long renovation it has emerged as a charming beachside cottage. The Galveston City Council just gave the home a Landmark Commission Award for renovation which was a huge honor and made all the sweat equity worth it. You will love it!

Dance nationals fun week
We were a group of 7-3 adults and 3 kids ages 15,11 and 6 in Galveston for dance nationals competition. We had a great meeting with Ron when we arrived. He shared a lot of great suggestions for eating, sight seeing and info on the house. The house was so cute, bright fun colors. The house was fully equipped with everything needed for our 6 night stay. Kitchen is stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. They even had coffee in the pantry! Plenty of room for us to watch tv and sit comfortably in the living room. We all ate our meals at the big dining table and we did puzzles on the big dining table. We never felt on top of each other. The bedrooms were perfect for our group. My daughter son in law and 6yr old granddaughter were comfortable in the bedroom with the queen bed and bunk beds. 2 bathrooms were great. Full washer and dryer came in handy. We needed to iron some costumes, no problem, ironing board and iron in the house! The beach is a short block and half from the house, we all walked a couple of times to enjoy the sand and sea. Water hosed the sand off our feet with the front porch faucet, nice to have so we didn’t track in sand. We used the folding chairs, little water boards, sand toys on our beach trips all provided in the house.
I could go on and on about our stay. I’m so thankful we were able to spend our trip at Sunny Days by the Sea.
Grandchildren Fun - School’sOut !
This house was perfect for everything we wanted. Ron met us when we arrived and made us feel very welcome. It was close to the beach and so easy to go back and
forth. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The washer and dryer was an added bonus to keep sand to a minimum. We loved that our little dog was welcome to join us. The grandkids already are planning our next trip to Sunny Daze.
Sunny Daze weekend
Sunny Daze was a perfect home for our weekend. We were leaving on a cruise Sunday so we wanted to get in town ahead of time. We walked to the beach, explored downtown Galveston and the Strand. The house was clean and well stocked. Very charming! The management was accommodating at check in as our flight was delayed. Would definitely return to this home!
The house was perfect distance from the beach and several restaurants. The house is adorable and had everything we needed. I would recommend to anyone and plan to stay there again one day!
We loved staying at Sunny Daze. The house was very clean, and was stocked with everything that we needed. The location is fantastic, its close to the Strand, close to the Pleasure Pier, and only a short walk to the beach, and the fact that you can see the ocean from the 2nd floor balcony was very nice as well. The only problem that we encountered was that after several of us showered in the upstairs shower, it started leaking water down in the kitchen (directly below the shower). It wasn't that big of a deal since there was a shower we could use on the 1st floor, but it is something that needs to be fixed nonetheless.
Overall it was a wonderful house, and we had a great vacation. We will absolutely consider staying here again the next time we visit Galveston.
This house was perfect for our us, our two young boys, and both sets of grandparents. We were easily able to walk to the beach and Denny’s for breakfast. We are already planning next year’s stay!
Sunny Daze is conveniently located in the Historic San Jacinto District, a beautiful turn of the century neighborhood. You can walk, bike or drive to all the island has to offer. On foot or bike you can easily access the wonderful old homes in the historic neighborhoods and along Broadway Ave. The beach is a block away and wonderful restaurants are walking or biking distance. The Pleasure Pier, Schlitterbahn Water Park and Moody Gardens are between 10 and 15 minutes by car. The Strand, with lots of restaurant amd shopping options, antiquing and art gallerys, is accessible by bike or car. Shykatz Cafe is great for breakfast and lunch and is a short 3 blocks (north) down the street.
