"I Hop to the Beach" is truly a treasure. It has been remodeled to a mid-century darling with tons of amenities. Everything is brand new, including appliances, furniture, fun decor, and paint. Just open the windows or step out onto the wrap-around deck to feel the salty air and hear the waves break along the emerald beaches of the forgotten coast. Our landscape consists of rolling sand dunes and wild sea grass, with views of the gulf from the interior and exterior balconies, the bay from the Master bedroom, and even the lighthouse from the upper bonus room. We are 150 yards from the beach and our location allows year round sea breezes to travel directly through the upper and lower levels of the home.
The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, with beautiful granite counters, new stainless fridge, stove and sink. There are loads of counter, drawer, and cabinet space, plus a dish-washer, cute dishware, plenty of barware, and everything useful for cooking and entertaining. The laundry has a separate entrance that serves as a mud-room and closet, with a brand new large-capacity washer and dryer.
The main level bedroom suite is has a queen bed + a separate bathtub/shower en suite. The upstairs Master Bedroom on the loft is HUGE, with a king bed, glass doors and curtains that close off to the rest of the home, extra large dressing room/closet, bathroom with a shower, and storage galore. Be aware that the stairs going up are narrow and the balcony has openings that are not friendly for a tiny pet or small children. The third bedroom we call the art room. It is just off the loft, with a twin bed and two walls of windows with gorgeous views of the island, gulf, and lighthouse in the distance. The views outside from the Master Bedroom are peacefully divine. The bedroom setup in the home are perfect for two couples wanting some seclusion - one suite upstairs and one on main level. The living area has brand new tongue-n-groove walls, perfectly adorning the A-frame style walls and a large Smart TV to watch Netflix or regular cable.
The brand new couch can turn into a bed, and there are two stylish and plush twin daybed cushions stacked in the corner that are super soft and fun for kids to watch tv or sleep.
Outside, there is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water, a fish cleaning area, and loads of adirondack chairs for porch sittin'. Enjoy the boogie boards tucked away in the outdoor changing room. There is also plenty of open parking for your boat and cars.
There is a tranquility of St. George Island beach life that includes stepping around turtle nests and finding huge shells along the shores in the early mornings. There are so few cars that you actually notice when one drives past and may likely send a little wave to passerbys. During the day, rent a bicycle and ride anywhere on the island, whether it is to the grocery, the beach, liquor store, restaurants or the lighthouse. And during the colder months (when turtles are gone), as your evening progresses, feel free to dig a fire pit on the shore, roast some hotdogs, and watch the Milky Way come to life in a way you won't forget.
When we purchased the home, we wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of our crazy lives, and we found out quickly that our children are enthralled with the place. Forget the fast pace of other beaches...St. George Island is the perfect git away!
